Shipments to China’s neighbors in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) led growth with a 34% year-on-year gain, reaching a new monthly record of US$54 billion seasonally adjusted. China’s leadership in digital infrastructure is an import driver of the export boom in developing Asia, we reported earlier this year (“Digital infrastructure propels new SE Asian Tigers,” February 5, 2023). Exports to India rose in lockstep with shipments to Southeast Asia, reflecting China’s growing presence in...

I always loved Wings Wild Life, Mumbo was and is sexier than John Lee Hooker or Elmore James. Tomorrow - a beautiful little bit of pop. Dear Friend - an enigmatic hymn to yearning for reconciliation with John Lennon. It was recorded for Ram but I'd be guessing the intense emotions of the breakup delayed it. The Lovely Linda underpinned both albums. A marriage that lasted. Ram on. Read on ........ for more ...... please .......

A California state judge on Thursday ordered Calvary Chapel Church, San Jose, in Santa Clara County to pay $1.2 million in fines for violating COVID-19 restrictions on masking, social distancing, and gatherings. The term “transphobia” is incredibly loaded, as most accusatory modern terms are. It wrongfully suggests that the person arguing against the idea of gender fluidity is only doing so because they are uncontrollably afraid of people with gender dysphoria. I’ve yet to see anyone’s fight-or-flight instincts get triggered when someone who is transgender gets near them, but there’s an incredibly strong possibility that the people who are transgender haven’t had that experience with anyone either. While I have no doubt that they’ve encountered emotionally-based resistance, I’m betting it’s never been a complete and total panic that resulted in violence or...

If virtually everyone is expecting a recession, and most people start acting accordingly, do you think that will make an economic downturn less likely or more likely? Needless to say, the answer to that question is obvious. Right now, banks all over the country are getting really tight with their money, large corporations are laying off workers at a frightening pace, and consumers are cutting back on their spending. In other words, it really is starting to look a lot like a recession out there, and economic conditions are only going to get even more harsh in the months ahead....

The Polish archeologists said the unique archaeological discovery has great artistic and historical significance for the Old Dongola region. They explained the murals have retained their natural colors and...

NORTH CONWAY. N.H.—Vivek Ramaswamy isn’t making much of a dent in the polls yet, but judging from the audience reaction at a packed Masonic lodge in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire, it won’t be long. Everyone was paying close attention. There was no sense in the room of skepticism over why this 37-year-old guy—out of nowhere and standing there with his doctor wife—had the temerity to run for president. They got it. He had done his homework and then some. Several people during the lengthy question session prefaced theirs with “I voted for Trump but I’m going to vote for you.” Others...
