BOONE COUNTY, Ky. (WXIX) - A local BBQ spot has stopped selling Bud Light amid the beer brand’s decision to partner with a trans social media influencer. Guy Cummins owns Smokin’ This And That BBQ in Florence. It’s a “small mom and pop” restaurant, Cummins says, with favorable reviews and some national acclaim. Recently, however, the restaurant drew criticism after Cummins authored a Facebook post saying he would no longer sell Budweiser or Bud Light. “Smokin’ This And That BBQ will no longer be serving Budweiser or Budweiser Light due to inappropriate labels. This kind of behavior and or marketing...

Was the American Revolution an act of rebellion against God and the Bible? Many today claim that it was. For example, John McArthur (Pastor of Grace Community Church and host of the national radio program “Grace to You”) asserts: People have mistakenly linked democracy and political freedom to Christianity. That’s why many contemporary evangelicals believe the American Revolution was completely justified, both politically and scripturally. They follow the arguments of the Declaration of Independence, which declares that life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness are Divinely endowed rights. . . . But such a position is contrary to the clear...

AB InBev, the brewer behind the Corona, Budweiser and Stella Artois beer brands, has hailed record full year volumes in 2022, as well as the strong performance of its premium portfolio. The business claimed this success was “driven by the investment in [its] marketing capabilities”. While sales and marketing investment fell in 2022 compared to the year prior, CEO Michel Doukeris told investors today (2 March) the company will continue to invest behind its brands as they “deserve” because their “power” drives growth at the business. Across the full year, volumes grew by 2.3% to reach an “all-time high”, the...

Big Tech has a great big dream of destroying the internet. And it’s mostly a reality. The vision of the internet was an open universe while Big Tech’s vision is the internet reduced to the feed on a few proprietary apps preloaded on your locked phone. Trying to censor the internet of the 90s or the 00s was a laughable proposition, but censoring today’s internet is laughably easy. Want to eliminate a site from the internet? Just wipe it from Google, ban a point of view from Facebook, a book from Amazon, or a video from YouTube. It’s still possible...

Sun, April 9, 2023 at 1:17 AM PDTU.S. officials think classified U.S. documents about Ukraine's war effort that appeared on-line are likely real and the result of a leak, but that some of the documents may have been altered before they were posted, a senior U.S. official said on Saturday. The official described that as the government's "working theory" pending investigation and review. The documents, posted in recent days as photos on Twitter and Telegram, outline Ukraine’s military strength, the state of the conflict, casualty figures and the burn rate for the HIMARS long-range rocket systems that the U.S. provided to Ukraine....

BAGHDAD — In a move that has drawn criticism, the Iraqi Prime Minister’s Council, the 9th and 10th of April have been declared holidays exclusively for Christians in honor of Easter. In contrast, Islamic holidays apply to all Iraqis. While such decisions have been issued in the past, it has always been without the inclusion of other ethnic or religious components, resulting in allegations of racism. Joseph Sliwa, former Syriac Member of the Iraqi Parliament and current Deputy Head of the Bethnahrin Patriotic Union (Huyodo Bethnahrin Athroyo, HBA), has criticized the decision via social media. He tagged Prime Minister Muhammad...

A week after causing controversy with their sponsorship deal with transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney, Bud Light has yet to post anything new on social media. The decision to work with Mulvaney appeared to anger some loyal customers including country singer Travis Tritt, who made the decision to remove all of the products from his tour bus and Kid Rock, who angrily shot at several cases of Bud Light. The beer giant's last tweet came on April 1, when they posted: 'Beers on us? Must be game time. For a chance to win, cheer on your team with #EasyToEnjoySweepstakes in the...

‘Many saints and doctors of the Church, including St. Augustine and St. Thomas Aquinas, have taken it as a revealed truth that Judas was reprobated,’ wrote Cardinal Dulles in 2003VATICAN CITY (LifeSiteNews) — The Vatican’s daily newspaper has once again questioned whether Judas is in Hell, in contradiction to the Catholic Church’s consistent teaching on the matter. On March 29, L’Osservatore Romano published an article entitled “Our brother Judas,” written by Father Simone Caleffi. The article presented Judas to readers as an individual beset by difficult circumstances who should merit pity and favorable attention. “What could be more despairing than...

COMMENTARY BY Portrait of Katrina Trinko Katrina Trinko @KatrinaTrinko Katrina Trinko is editor-in-chief of The Daily Signal. Send an email to Katrina. In California, “stranger danger” may be about to acquire a whole new meaning. Forget warning kids. It’s the parents in California who will need to be terrified of strangers if a new bill passes. Snuck into AB 665, legislation ostensibly about extending mental health care to lower-income California youths, is a provision that effectively would terminate parents’ rights over their kids as soon as they turn 12. The California Family Council warns that this bill “would allow children...

Belmont Abbey College plans to eventually end reliance on federal aid as part of a new campaign called “Made True.”Leaders of the small Catholic college located in a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina, in February launched a $100 million capital campaign toward building up the school’s endowment and reducing federal aid, with the goal of one day eliminating the latter once and for all. “First and foremost, the federal government has historically used the funding to mandate policies inimical to Catholic education. These policies have often risen to the level of serious moral violations to the freedom of conscience of...

Linda Rantz is proof that one person can and does make a difference. In 2021, Rantz moved with her husband from a solidly blue state to Missouri. The couple immediately became involved, volunteering in their new state, hoping to find a way to fix our broken elections after the 2020 election. After spending a great deal of time canvassing in her state, the passionate activist and Osage County resident quickly began working to build relationships with local clerks in her state. “I kept hearing Mike Lindell saying, ‘We gotta get rid of the machines! We gotta get rid of the...

An old Lutheran church, that has mass in German once a month, is being destroyed by fire right now a few blocks from Harvard Square. A sixth alarm has sounded, streets are closed, and some homes may be evacuated. Given that it is Easter Sunday, I can't help but speculate about anti-Christian terrorism. My mother's whole family and half of my Dad's were descended from German Lutheran immigrants. I know all about Massachusetts, and Cambridge, but this was an active and faithful congregation, please pray for them.

Defeating Russian President Vladimir Putin in Ukraine is the "best deterrence" for keeping Chinese President Xi Jinping out of Taiwan, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chair Michael McCaul, who traveled to Taiwan this weekend, said in an interview that aired Sunday. "I've talked to the prime ministers and the presidents of Japan, South Korea, and Taiwan, and what's happening in Ukraine will determine what happens in Taiwan and the Pacific," the Texas Republican said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "I believe the best deterrence to Chairman Xi is a failure for Putin in Ukraine." Weapons for Taiwan are also necessary to...

WASHINGTON, April 9 (Reuters) - Fox News said on Sunday it has reached a settlement with a Venezuelan businessman Majed Khalil, ending a defamation case in which Khalil said he was falsely accused on air of helping to rig the 2020 U.S. presidential election against Donald Trump. Khalil had filed a defamation suit against the news outlet and former host Lou Dobbs, arguing in filings that they had fabricated claims he and other Venezuelans were involved in "orchestrating a non-existent scheme to rig or fix the election" against the former Republican president. Afghan refugees who were rescued and brought back to the US have been accused of being racist and sexist towards those helping them, a bombshell report has found. Some of them are said to have launched verbal abuse at staff and even turned their noses up at accommodation they were given. The claims emerged in a State Department report that looked at the resettlement of around 73,000 Afghan evacuees brought in last year and in 2021. It found agencies were battered by an influx of challenges including the speed of arrivals, the pandemic as well as housing, staffing and cultural...

One of the foremost colleges at the University of Oxford cancelled its annual St George’s Day celebration for 2023 – and will celebrate the end of Eid instead. Magdalen College, which was founded almost one hundred years before the English Reformation and was named after St Mary Magdalen, has a long tradition of celebrating the April 23 feast of England’s patron saint. The event customarily featured a banquet in which all academics, staff, dons, and students were invited to dine together from a “special English menu”. College members in the past were invited to “a formal hall and high table...

Following archaeological investigations in the Hessian Ried, initial indications show the canal may have been dug much earlier than previously estimated: It is thought the Roman military created the artificial body of water during the conquest and development of the Ried, located on the right bank of the Rhine, in the 1st century AD. The land ditch, which merged into today's Schwarzbach stream near Trebur, probably served to supply materials and goods to the Roman fort and its nearby civilian settlement in Gross-Gerau. With the new funds in hand, further research is now getting underway...Both written records and corresponding findings...

A systematic review of 2,168 studies that looked into the adverse effects of wearing masks during the COVID-19 pandemic has found that the practice led to negative health consequences, including itching, headaches, and restriction of oxygen. “We found significant effects in both medical surgical and N95 masks, with a greater impact of the second,” states the review, published in the “Frontiers in Public Health” on April 5. A meta-analysis of multiple studies found that headache was the “most frequent symptom” among mask wearers, with a prevalence of 62 percent for general mask use and up to 70 percent when using...
