U.S. officials think 'leaked' documents about Ukraine may be real

U.S. officials think classified U.S. documents about Ukraine's war effort that appeared on-line are likely real and the result of a leak, but that some of the documents may have been altered before they were posted, a senior U.S. official said on Saturday.

The official described that as the government's "working theory" pending investigation and review.

The documents, posted in recent days as photos on Twitter and Telegram, outline Ukraine’s military strength, the state of the conflict, casualty figures and the burn rate for the HIMARS long-range rocket systems that the U.S. provided to Ukraine. Some of them carry a March 1 date.

“We are aware of the reports of social media posts, and the Department is reviewing the matter,” Pentagon spokesperson Sabrina Singh said on Friday.

The Justice Department has started its own probe, said a spokesperson on Friday. “We have been in communication with the Department of Defense related to this matter and have begun an investigation," said the spokesperson. "We decline further comment."

The documents seem to reveal what the U.S. has learned via signals intelligence — intercepted electronic communications — about Russian plans and operations. A former U.S. intelligence official said there could be serious fallout if a stream of signals intelligence on Russia has been exposed.

Russia now knows with certainty their comms are cracked, crypto compromised.

No wonder the Ukrainians seemed to be waiting in ambush, with enough numbers/force any time Russia moved an armored unit. They also knew when the missiles/drones were coming and what the targets were.

Will Ukraine continue to be so lucky?

All comms and crypto are compromised, not only Russian.
Regarding this “leak”, I still think it is a spy game.

“All comms and crypto are compromised, not only Russian.”

No.

Not US NSA algorithms. US military COMSEC is rock solid.

“.. I still think it is a spy game...”

After 21 of our top intelligence officials signed a false document stating it was Russian collusion and continued in various ways to take down Trump, I don’t trust or believe anything they say. They play games with the well being of this nation. Shame!!!!

There is too much politically damaging information for it to be a Spy Game run by Uncles Sam.

Besides, that level of competence is like nothing we have seen in the last 50 years. These guys just aren’t that clever.

Gone are the days that US intelligence agencies were all about deceiving our adversaries. Today it seems their main target for deception is the US general public. By the way, representative governments are supposed to be “deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed” (-Declaration of independence) so when the US public is generally deceived, the public can’t in principle give informed consent, meaning that the powers that government wields cannot possibly be just.

Could be the work of Ukrainian dissidents tired of seeing a generation of men fed into the Donbas meat grinder.

Those presentations were generated and consumed in Wash DC.

Ukrainian dissidents never saw them until they were posted.

It’s the work of US dissidents, insiders tired of the bullshit neocons and neolibs.

The biggest damage is not on the ground in Ukraine. The big damage is in the US public perception. And it’s likely to be fatal damage to the US/NATO war effort.

The depth and breadth of the lies told are sobering.

Classic modified limited hangout. Only admit something that’s undeniable, then deflect.

Let them post short segments of the docs showing the purported altered entries on FR and the folks that took about 2 hours to destroy Dan Rather’s GWB national guard story will determine whether fiddled with or not.

Of course the won’t do that because those folks aren’t owned by the Deep State.

The “leaks” are grossly inaccurate on composition and disposition of the Ukrainian forces.

Pentagon’s and media reaction is telling as well.

Like they didn’t know within minutes of discovering the documents out on the internet.

No problem!

Simply the planned result of the government, at every level, being a cesspool of diversity, wokeness, inclusiveness, and ardent anti-American hatred for the former Nation and its freedoms & liberties...

Too clever by half, this is obviously a disinformation campaign be a run by our US government. There’s no doubt based on the timing that they are hoping to pull off a cheap deception of the Russians.

Its not that secret. USA has all its satellites over Ukraine, the area is surrounded by every advanced US monitoring capability. If a Russian tank moves, the USA sees it and passes that info to Ukraine.

Real or not they were deliberately leaked by someone or a party of a political group with intentions.... Be it to create what we're seeing in the media now, how gov. leaders etc. are responding and ultimately if or not the documents are indeed real. Either or it's sufficient to ‘affect’ the targets the leakers wanted to hit.

Russia needs to end this insane war and withdraw from Ukraine. All of it.

Putin’s delusions of a resurgent Soviet Union are over. Accept it.

Bradley Manning Part II. The only question is, will “IT” transition from a “she” to a “he” or vice versa, to get a shorter prison sentence?
