HEADQUARTERS, Thursday Morning, Dec. 11. At 6 o'clock this morning 143 guns opened on the devoted city of Fredericksburgh, and up to the latest moment the firing continued without interruption. Its destruction appears certain. The enemy opened their fire at 7 o'clock, but thus far have done no serious injury. Gen. FRANKLIN's grand division is crossing the river three miles below the city, having constructed bridges there with but slight opposition from the enemy. The gunboats are shelling the enemy fifteen miles down the river. HEADQUARTERS, Thursday Morning, Dec. 11 -- 9 A.M. Everything last night was bustle and activity,...

A new city analysis shows that a huge chunk of high-income earners fled in 2020. Yet progressives refuse to hear the alarm bell: They’re pushing to “tax the rich” yet again instead. The study by the city’s Independent Budget Office shows a 10% plunge in taxpayers who made over $750,000, and 6% of those with incomes between $150,000 and $750,000. These now-former New Yorkers will no longer pay hefty taxes to the city or state, leaving significantly less revenue to fund progressives’ pet projects. Kathryn Wylde of the Partnership for New York City calls the trend “ominous.” Clearly, many taxpayers...

Yes, there is a lot of ruin in great nations. But even America is by now running low on it. Are we sure that there is all that much ruin left in the United States? We are $31 trillion in collective debt. The new normal is $1.5 trillion budget deficits. The military is politicized and short of recruits. We trade lethal terrorists for woke celebrity athletes as if to confirm our enemies’ cynical stereotypes. Our FBI is corrupt and discredited, collaborating with Silicon Valley contractors to suppress free speech and warp elections. We practice segregation and racial discrimination and claim...

As my last post reported, the Official Party Line from our government holds that we have this “100% Clean Electricity” thing about 90% solved. As the government-funded NREL put it in their August 30, 2022 press release, “[a] growing body of research has demonstrated that cost-effective high-renewable power systems are possible.” But then they admit that that statement does not cover what they call the "last 10% challenge” — providing for the worst seasonal droughts of sun and wind, that result in periods when there is no renewable power to meet around 10% of annual electricity demand. That last 10%,...

Twitter CEO Elon Musk caused a stir Sunday when he declared that his increased political involvement "must be done for the future of civilization." The comment came after a Twitter user named Gali wrote how he thought Musk "getting too political is a mistake." "Must be done for the future of civilization, without which nothing matters," Musk responded. Many Twitter users praised Musk for the move and agreed the world is facing a major inflection point. YouTuber Nuance Bro tweeted directly to the initial post, "I think you just don’t get it @Gfilche prob for the same reason you unfollowed,"...

This is what all of us 70+ year olds, and those yet-to-be, have to look forward to!! This is something that happened at an assisted living center. The people who lived there had small apartments but they all ate at a central cafeteria. One morning one of the residents didn't show up for breakfast so my wife went upstairs and knocked on his door to see if everything was OK. She could hear him through the door and he said that he was running late and would be down shortly, so she went back to the dining area. An hour...

Searches for a Speaker alternative to House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (Calif.) are slowly building momentum as he faces opposition that threatens to sink his bid. On one side, McCarthy’s fiercest detractors are teasing that there are people interested in being a viable GOP consensus substitute for the current minority leader. On the other, members say preliminary conversations are happening among Republicans and Democrats about a possible contingency candidate if McCarthy cannot win the gavel after multiple ballots in the new GOP-majority House next month. Neither side will name names, fearing that anyone mentioned as a candidate would get intense...

The August test actually generated more energy than scientists predicted, and damaged some equipment. Using the world's largest laser, consisting of 192 beams and temperatures more than three times hotter than the center of the sun One adjustment that helped: Researchers made the fuel capsule about 10 percent bigger and now it's up to the size of a ball bearing. That capsule fits in a tiny gold metal can that researchers aim 192 lasers at. They heat it to about 100 million degrees, creating about 50 percent more pressure inside the capsule than what's inside the center of the sun....

On Friday, December 2, 2022, a father, Ariel Eliyahuo, and his two-year-old daughter returned to their Woodland Hills home in Los Angeles, California. An average-sized coyote can be seen approaching the two-year-old. It knocks the child down, then attempts to drag the girl off by her legs. Only the quick action of her father, who ran at the coyote, yelling, drove off the animal. The coyote did not leave the area until the father threw a water bottle at it.The action fits very well as a predatory attack. Young children are reasonably close to the size of prey that a...

Disturbing evidence reveals UK special forces’ war crimes in Afghanistan: Report Tala Michel Issa, Al Arabiya English BBC Panorama has released disturbing evidence of war crimes reportedly committed by a squadron of Britain’s special forces in Afghanistan, revealing a suspicious pattern of unlawful killings during night raids. Newly obtained military reports seen by the BBC suggested that one SAS unit, which was in Afghanistan between 2010 and 2011, killed around 54 people during a six-month tour of the country and that former UK special forces head General Sir Mark Carleton-Smith failed to pass on evidence to a murder inquiry. Whatever happened to “All the news that’s fit to print,” and “Democracy dies in darkness,” the respective mottos of the two most influential newspapers in the country, The New York Times and The Washington Post? Every morning, these august organs set the narrative for newsrooms across the country, and yet, time and again, we see them ignore stories that don’t suit their own agenda as propaganda purveyors for the Democratic Party and the security state. This has been obvious in their non-coverage of Elon Musk’s Twitter Files, four batches over 10 days so far, which have revealed a chilling censorship...
