U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland will appoint a special counsel to determine whether criminal charges should be filed against former President Donald Trump in connection with two pending investigations, according to reports Friday. News of the planned appointment of the special counsel, which was reported by The Wall Street Journal, came three days after Trump announced plans to run for president in 2024. The Republican faces multiple criminal investigations. NBC News reported that the special counsel, whose name has not been announced, will make decisions for two Department of Justice investigations of Trump. One is focused on whether Trump broke...

The Iranian regime is one of the world’s most truly evil, yet it is treated with kid gloves. Most recently, this November 16 Reuters story caught my attention. Michael Holden reports from London: Iran’s intelligence services have made at least 10 attempts to kidnap or even kill British nationals or individuals based in the United Kingdom regarded by Tehran as a threat, the head of Britain’s domestic spy agency said on Wednesday. Ken McCallum, Director General of the Security Service known as MI5, said while Tehran was using violence to silence critics at home, its “aggressive intelligence services” were also...

Los Angeles County is, once again, “strongly recommending” individuals mask up, well over two-and-a-half years after the start of the Chinese coronavirus pandemic. Los Angeles County officials cannot seem to take universal masking off the table, as they are now urging individuals to mask up in indoor settings. They are attributing this to the rise in their seven-day average of coronavirus cases, which reportedly jumped from 65 cases per 100,000 two weeks ago to 86 per 100,000 last week. Now, they are reporting 100 new cases per 100,000.

Schedules screening of new movie The Black Student Union at the University of California-Santa Barbara has announced a special screening of a new movie – and has asked white students not to come. The Daily Mail said the BSU has announced a free screening of a movie called "Wakanda Forever" but its promotions describe it as "a 'black-centered' activity that would ideally not be inclusive of other races – meaning it was potentially illegal."

Are there any decent Democrats out there anymore? Are they sick and tired of what the fascist far left has been doing to this country? Have they become thoroughly disgusted by the lies, deception, cheating, and gaslighting promulgated by their side in a headlong pursuit of power? The election two years ago highlighted the fatal flaw in our constitutional republic — a flaw that only has been made worse this time around. Our system isn't designed to withstand it if one side loses its moral underpinnings in favor of a lust for power and is willing to do anything to...

Guess what happens when a population stays home from work and school to avoid communicable illness. When they mask up, physically distance, and use good handwashing techniques to slow down the spread of viral illness. The transmission of communicable illness decreases. But viruses don't just go away. They mutate and stack up in line, waiting for their chance to infect an immunologically weaker population. We are currently "paying the immunity debt" as a consequence. With isolation being replaced by socialization, the next-in-line viruses are spreading. Many of us have been relatively healthy for a couple of winters. But now we...

Many of the billionaires lining up against President Donald Trump’s 2024 campaign share more in common than exorbitant wealth. Perhaps it isn’t a surprise that ruling class members with China links are lining up against a populist that says he wants to “launch an all-out campaign to eliminate America’s dependence on China.” Take the Murdochs, for example. Their New York Post mocked President Trump’s campaign roll-out with the headline: “Florida Man Makes Announcement.” Perhaps Trump should respond by highlighting a more shocking headline – this one from Crikey in Australia, “Murdoch empire borrows US$100m from state-owned Bank of China.” The...

What is going on in the governor's race in Arizona? The media have called it for Katie Hobbs, after the Nov. 14 Monday night "drop," supposedly raising the total counted to 99% of the expected final total. According to NBC News, the remaining uncounted vote total is estimated to be 25,494, far above the margin of 16,644 that we are told separates Hobbs from Kari Lake. It's reasonable to assume that there are areas where Lake won with 75%, and these would be the uncounted areas, where it's possible that corrupt election officials might be holding back and delaying, or...

It was a conversation I had with some peers in French class that landed me in trouble with the officials at Randolph Union High School in Vermont. Someone overheard me telling my friends that a dude doesn’t belong in the girls’ locker room, and they reported me to the co-principals, even though the male student didn’t hear me and wasn’t in the class. The controversy didn’t start in French class, though; it started when the school allowed a male who identifies as a girl to compete on our girls’ volleyball team. When the male student entered our locker room, we...

A gym fanatic was left trapped under weights for 33 minutes while he waited for emergency services to free him. The man, aged between 25 and 35, was working out at Snap Fitness in Spring Hill, Brisbane, Australia at 5:47 am on Thursday when he got into trouble. Firefighters did not arrive until 6:20 am to rescue him, with paramedics arriving shortly afterward. It took six minutes to extract the man from under the weights. By this point, the man was unconscious and required CPR. He was taken to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in critical condition. There were no...

WASHINGTON — The Defense Department spent more than $2.6 billion between May and October of this year replenishing stocks of key weaponry and equipment dispatched to Ukraine to support its ongoing fight against Russia — but it will still take “multiple years” for the US to be fully resupplied, according to a fact sheet obtained by The Post. “Replacement contracts are expected to deliver over multiple years, as many capabilities delivered to Ukraine, such as advanced munitions, have two-to-three-year production times,” the Pentagon said. The money comes from a pot of more than $14 billion Congress approved earlier this year...

Disney has faced a series of problems with its theme parks and films, as well as its Disney+ streaming service that has exclusive rights to Disney movies and TV shows. Axios reported that Disney has lost over $4 billion from its streaming service during Fiscal Year 2022. Disney’s customers have reported widespread dissatisfaction over Disney’s rising prices and issues with park cleanliness and rides malfunctioning, contributing to its falling stock prices. Disney’s stock has lost 41% of its value on the year, an alarming dip for investors who have repeatedly raised concerns about the company’s business model. Disney’s senior executives...

The story of FTX's downfall is complicated, convoluted, and unbelievably stupid. And the only thing dumber than the people who fell for a 27-year-old tech bro’s promise of wealth and unimaginable riches has been the corporate press’s coverage of the crypto exchange’s implosion. The short of it is this: FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried is almost certainly a conman and a thief. He opened a “bank” (a crypto exchange), accepted deposits of real money, helped himself to customers' deposits without their knowledge, and then distributed mountains of cash to friends and, more importantly, Democratic coffers. Indeed, Bankman-Fried ranked as the Democratic...

MSNBC co-host Mika Brzezinski said Friday “Morning Joe” the Republican Party is the party of “inhumanity” in policy and behavior. Brzezinski said, “I ask again and again who raised you, men and women in the House and the far right? I mean, would your mothers like your behavior today? This party, when it comes to policy, and I have talked about this before, it is not exaggerating, calling it the party of inhumanity. A party that has no sense of empathy or humanity when it comes to policy or behavior.” She added, “This is a party, and I’m talking about...

The electric grids at most risk of supply shortfalls are in Texas, the central US system stretching from the Great Lakes to Louisiana, New England and the Carolinas, the North American Electric Reliability Council said in its seasonal assessment Thursday. Severe weather may stress grids by causing demand to soar while supplies of natural gas, coal and back-up fuel oil are all tight, leaving little room for error, according to the report.

MINNEAPOLIS -- Sen. Amy Klobuchar said Thursday she would call a Senate hearing to probe Ticketmaster after the Taylor Swift ticket fiasco this week left many fans frustrated and empty handed. This comes as the company canceled the general public sale of tickets originally scheduled for Friday "due to extraordinarily high demands on ticketing systems and insufficient remaining ticket inventory to meet that demand." Swift fans sought tickets earlier this week with pre-sale codes and credit card exclusives, a rollout that was beset by technical problems. Klobuchar, who chairs a Senate subcommittee focused on consumer protection and anti-trust, said she...

Al Roker revealed he has been hospitalized for blood clots in his leg and lungs after sparking concern over his “Today” show absence. “So many of you have been thoughtfully asking where I’ve been,” the meteorologist captioned Friday Instagram photos of flowers and an NBC News mug. “Last week I was admitted to the hospital with a blood clot in my leg which sent some clots into my lungs,” he continued. “After some medical whack-a-mole, I am so fortunate to be getting terrific medical care and on the way to recovery.”
