Democrats' strategy of spending millions to boost pro-Trump candidates in Republican primaries appeared to pay off Tuesday as the party ended the night with a clean sweep of the races in which it chose to meddle. All six of the Republican candidates who seemingly benefited from the meddling in their primary victories fell to their Democratic opponents. Those races include a number of key House and gubernatorial races, as well as the New Hampshire Senate race.

President Joe Biden on Thursday defended his economic policies as data showed consumer prices continued to climb in October. “It will take time to get inflation back to normal levels – and we could see setbacks along the way – but we will keep at it and help families with the cost of living,” Biden said in a statement. The Labor Department’s consumer price index rose by 0.4 percent from September. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) is up 7.7 percent year-over-year. Food prices at home rose 0.4 percent in October, which is lower than the 0.7 rate in August and...

Credit: Genome Biology and Evolution New research indicates that a type of octopus appears to have evolved independently to develop something resembling a shell, despite having lost the genetic code that produced actual shells in its ancestors and relatives. Paul Ryan wants to make one thing crystal clear: He is for any Republican not named Donald Trump in 2024. “That new swing voter in American politics is the suburban voter, and it’s really clear the suburban voter doesn’t like Trump, but they like Republicans,” the former House speaker said during a recent appearance on Fox Business. “So I think anybody not named Trump, I think is so much more likely to win the White House for us.” Which is blunt! Ryan’s assessment comes even as Trump appears not only likely to run again, but is making preparations for what...

He’s beauty and he’s grace… In a social justice stunt, a transgender man recently won a beauty contest in New Hampshire that the Miss America organization put on, supposedly to support young females. Brían Nguyen, a 19-year-old biological male, has become the first transgender titleholder within the Miss America Organization. Now women are even being replaced in the pageant world by men. Can you guess which one is Brían? Nguyen was crowned ‘Miss Greater Derry 2023,’ despite being a man and despite the fact that there were plenty of other more-than-worthy females competing in the pageant. Despite beautiful women competing...

The yield on the 10-year Treasury is on track for its biggest daily decline since 2009 U.S. stocks traded sharply higher on Thursday with the Dow up more than 850 points, as investors cheered a softer-than-expected reading on the October consumer-price index. Meanwhile, Treasury yields and the dollar retreated on expectations that the Fed might opt for a smaller interest-rate hike in December, with the yield on the 10-year note on track for its biggest daily drop since 2009.

Thousands of people have protested across Greece amid a general strike against price hikes. Public and some private sector workers walked off the job for 24 hours on Wednesday to protest against rising inflation rates. The strike disrupted services around the country, with state-run schools shut, and some public hospitals running with reduced staff. Most trains and public transport were reduced to a minimum and 60% of flights were cancelled at Brussels airport. Staff at supermarkets, shopping centres, and hospitals also joined the strike. In the UK, the country’s largest nursing union announced its first strike in its 106-year history....

Asked by the Pharisees when the Kingdom of God would come, Jesus said in reply, “The coming of the Kingdom of God cannot be observed, and no one will announce, ‘Look, here it is,’ or, ‘There it is.’ For behold, the Kingdom of God is among you.” Luke 17:20-21The Kingdom of God is among you! What does that mean? Where is the Kingdom of God and how is it that it’s among us?The Kingdom of God can be spoken of in two ways. At the final coming of Christ, at the end of time, His Kingdom will be permanent and...

Former House Speaker Paul Ryan, R-Wisc., said Republicans should have "done better" in Tuesday's midterm elections, calling former President Trump a "drag on our ticket" that contributed to the party's disappointing results. While interviewed from his home in Janesville, Wisconsin by local station WISN 12 News on Wednesday, Ryan said he was happy to see Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis' landslide re-election victory and that Republicans would have to reflect on why that dominant performance did not materialize elsewhere. "I think we're going to have to do a lot of soul-searching and head scratching, looking through and parsing the numbers as...

Herschel Walker barnstormed the state of Georgia for the last year hunting for enough GOP votes to get elected to the U.S. Senate. But the one person he could have really used help from was Gov. Brian Kemp. The governor has proven to be the most popular Republican in the state. He routed former Sen. David Perdue in a Donald Trump-sponsored GOP primary by more than 50 points and, after seeing Republicans outmanned on the ground in 2021, plowed millions into his own get-out-the-vote operation to give Democrats a run for their money. It’s not that Kemp wouldn’t offer his...

Commuters and visiting tourists faced serious disruptions on Thursday as metro workers in Paris went on strike, with a third of lines completely closed and most others working only at peak hours. "It's very complicated, there's no transport," said commuter Claude Miamo, a receptionist. She had waited a long time to find a train to get into Paris, only to find her metro line closed. "I'm going to take an Uber, it's an additional expense but I have no choice, I have to go to work." The CGT union had called on workers nationwide to walk off the job in...

MADISON, Wis. — Fresh off a win in his re-election bid, Democratic Gov. Tony Evers on Wednesday focused on abortion and education as his main priorities for his second term. During a visit to O’Keeffe Middle School in Madison Wednesday afternoon, Evers said he would continue pursuing a lawsuit Attorney General Josh Kaul filed earlier this year in the wake of the U.S. Supreme Court decision curtailing abortion rights. We have extensively discussed China’s fifth-generation fighter – the J-20 Mighty Dragon, which is now based at all regional theater commands in China to deploy in times of war quickly. It has radar-evading characteristics allowing it to join the exclusive club of stealth fighters to challenge F-22s and F-35s. China seems to be pumping out more J-20 models each month. Now Beijing’s air force is raising the stakes with its sixth-generation fighter on display at the Zhuhai Airshow. This is again to match the planned American Next-Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) fighter. When it looks like the United States Air Force...

If there’s a clear lesson to come out of Tuesday night’s bizarre midterm election, it’s that Republicans can no longer be content with defensive victories or defensive politics. To win political power and do what must be done to save the country, Republicans will have to go on offense, present a compelling vision for the future, and engage culture war issues like abortion and critical race theory without apologies. When they do that, they win. But it stands in stark contrast to the perennial advice of Beltway GOP consultants, who think it best to avoid major culture war issues like...
