CNA Newsroom, Aug 27, 2022 / 10:52 am A federal appellate court on Friday blocked a push to force doctors to perform abortions or sex-reassignment surgeries. The decision was made on religious freedom grounds. “This ruling is a major victory for conscience rights and compassionate medical care in America,” Joseph Davis, counsel at the legal group Becket, said on Aug. 26. “Doctors cannot do their jobs and comply with the Hippocratic Oath if the government requires them to perform harmful, irreversible procedures against their conscience and medical expertise,” he said. The court case is known as Franciscan Alliance v. Becerra....

A Federal Reserve official said the agency's new real-time payments system FedNow is slated to launch as early as May 2023. FedNow has been in development for around a decade and is supposed to allow banks to send payments to each other in real-time, thus allowing bank customers to send real-time payments to each other as well. The system, which will operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, is expected to be less expensive than wire transfer or debit card transaction fees. But while FedNow has been in development, other banks and the cryptocurrency industry have been looking...

Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has addressed the Chairman of the Russian Legislative Assembly Mr. V.V. Volodin, supporting the initiative to pass a law completely banning the promotion of sexual perversions. There is a moral consensus in Russian society, sustained by the Orthodox Church, that family is the union of man and woman, as it is stipulated by the Constitution of the Russian Federation. Without the affirmation and protection of family values, the future of the institution of family is in jeopardy. There is also no doubt that the goal of preserving the nation, proclaimed by President of...

The document also sidelined the express desire of Ireland’s young Catholics to maintain the traditional doctrine of the Church, despite 500 such faithful having...

President Biden on Tuesday made a passionate plea for an assault weapons ban, invoking the school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, to push Congress to pass such a ban. Biden said during remarks in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., that parents had to use DNA to identify their children’s bodies following the mass shooting at Robb Elementary School in May when an 18-year-old killed 19 students and two teachers.

“I will not be participating in a debate the first week of September, but look forward to having a productive discussion about how we can move forward and have a real conversation on this once Dr. Oz and his team are ready to take this seriously,” he added. Surgeons implanted a pacemaker with a defibrillator to regulate Mr. Fetterman‘s heartbeat after he suffered a stroke last spring. The health woes has raised concerns about his ability to return to the campaign trail. He has held two brief rallies in the past week. An Oz campaign aide said last week that...

Democrats are feeling stirrings of optimism about November’s midterm elections. It’s a remarkable shift of mood for a party that had been bracing for heavy defeats only a few weeks ago. Share Tweet ... More Democrats are feeling stirrings of optimism about November’s midterm elections. It’s a remarkable shift of mood for a party that had been bracing for heavy defeats only a few weeks ago. President Biden’s party colleagues believe they have a strong chance of holding on to control of the Senate, at least. That’s partly because Republican candidates are struggling in key states such as Pennsylvania, Georgia...

Let me take you back in time, ladies and gentlemen. It's 1987. I am at the time working at KFBK in Sacramento, California and I have created this term, invented this term "Gorbasm", to describe the reaction of various people, primarily in America, but around the world, to the prospect that nuclear holocaust is at hand because Ronald Reagan is in the White House, but only Mikhail Gorbachev can save the day, can save the world, can save the planet! He's reasonable. Reagan has an itchy trigger finger, right there poised above that button. Now all the time previous, from...

President Biden on Tuesday forcefully condemned attacks on the FBI from some Republicans in the wake of the bureau’s search of former President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property. Speaking at an event on public safety in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., Biden vowed his own support for law enforcement while casting conservatives as anti-police due to their stances on the Jan. 6, 2021, attack at the Capitol and more recently the events at Mar-a-Lago.

Chinese military researchers recently called for the destruction of Elon Musk's Starlink satellites, an extraordinary threat for a state to make against a private foreign enterprise. In December 2021, China filed a complaint with the United Nations, claiming that two of Musk's Starlink satellites had nearly collided with the Tianhe module of its Tiangong Space Station -- in April and October of 2021-- and that Chinese astronauts had been forced to maneuver the module of the station to avoid the collision. Starlink is part of Elon Musk's SpaceX and the satellites are part of a plan to make internet coverage from...

We saw this breakdown coming well over a year ago. America’s relationship with the leadership of the Solomon Islands was already beginning to decline by then, despite the longstanding partnership we had previously established with them and our naval presence in the region. But China has been pushing hard to disrupt America’s ties to the Indo-Pacific region and they have been courting the Solomon Islands as part of their bid to control the Pacific. Not even a month ago, China was structuring a bid to purchase a deepwater port in the islands, clearly planning to develop their own naval military...

Fox News anchor Brian Kilmeade said Tuesday on FBN’s “Kudlow” that suburban white women were “freaked out” by the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade, hurting Republicans in polling for the midterm election. Kilmeade said, “Well, the three things the Democratic Party is polling well in, coronavirus still, which is inexplicable; abortion because they are pro-choice and a lot of the zero tolerance, when it comes to these states has a lot of people freaked out. I think the 15 weeks seems to be – even if you’re the most pro-life person, your neighbor probably isn’t – so how do...

Eric Adams, The mayor of New York City is standing in front of television cameras every day to slam Texas Governor Greg Abbott for bussing illegal migrants to his city. The buses are paid for by Texas taxpayers and the goal is to highlight the Biden border crisis. The indignant mayor doesn’t mention Arizona Governor Doug Ducey in his rants about how anti-American and unpatriotic Abbott is for moving illegal migrants away from the overcrowding at the border. Interestingly enough, he also has not mentioned that the City of El Paso is sending buses to NYC, too, and being reimbursed...

Late last week, California regulators approved a ban on gasoline-powered vehicles by the year 2035. The ban is unrealistic and a major overreach. There is no doubt that California is influential. The Golden State has the fifth largest economy in the world, and one in eight U.S. residents call the state home. Unfortunately, the 2035 car ban is starting to seep out to other states. Already, as many as 17 other states are looking to follow California down this disastrous road. If this mandate is not stopped, Americans will suffer the consequences.Families struggling with massive inflation will feel more pressure...

Jeremy Boland, Assistant Principal of Cos Cob Elementary School: “Believe it or not, the open-minded, more progressive teachers are actually more savvy about delivering a Democratic message without really ever having to mention politics.” • Boland: “So, it's subtle. They [teachers I hire] will never say, ‘Oh, this is [a] liberal or a Democratic way of doing this.’ They'll just make that the norm -- and this is how we handle things, it's subtle…That's how you get away with it.” • Boland: “The conservative [teacher], who is stuck in her ways. I’ll never be able to fire her, and I’ll...
