10 Things You Should Know About California’s Gasoline Powered Car Ban and 10 Things about Electric Vehicles Advocates Ought to Know
Power the Future ^ | 08/30/2022

Posted on 08/30/2022 6:02:48 PM PDT by SeekAndFind

Late last week, California regulators approved a ban on gasoline-powered vehicles by the year 2035. The ban is unrealistic and a major overreach.

There is no doubt that California is influential. The Golden State has the fifth largest economy in the world, and one in eight U.S. residents call the state home. Unfortunately, the 2035 car ban is starting to seep out to other states. Already, as many as 17 other states are looking to follow California down this disastrous road. If this mandate is not stopped, Americans will suffer the consequences.

Families struggling with massive inflation will feel more pressure if states continue to follow California’s wrong turn. Below are 10 reasons why:

1.EVs are powered by fossil fuels. According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA), fossil fuel-based power plants—coal, oil, or natural gas—create about 60 percent of the nation’s electrical grid, while nuclear power accounts for nearly 20 percent.

2. The batteries of EVs rely on cobalt. An estimated 70 percent of the global supply of cobalt emanates from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, a country with deplorable working conditions, especially for children.

3. A study released earlier this year by an environmental group showed nearly 1/3 of San Francisco’s electric charging stations were non-functioning. The population of San Francisco represents roughly two percent of California.

4. Supporters of the California law admit there will be a 40 percent increase in demand for electricity, adding further strain to the grid and requiring increased costs for power and infrastructure.

5. According to one researcher, the strain of adding an EV is similar to adding “1 or 2 air conditioners”  to your home, except an EV requires power year-round.

6. Today, 20 million American families, or 1 in 6 have fallen behind on their electric bills, the highest amount ever.

7. Utility companies will need to add $5,800 in upgrades for every new EV for the next 8 years in order to compensate for the demand in power. All customers will shoulder this cost.

8. The average price for an electric vehicle is currently $66,000, up more than 13 percent in just the last year, costing an average of more than the average combustible engine. Meanwhile, the median household income is $67,521. The average for African American families is $45,870, and Hispanic households are $55,321.

9. A 2022 study found that the majority of EV charging occurs at home, leaving those who live in multi-family dwellings (apartments) at a real disadvantage for charging.

10. The same study also noted that many charge their EVs overnight when solar power is less available on the grid.

Why would the prog be going on about barring the sale of new gas-powered cars in 2035 when the world is going to collapse in 10 years or so?

Oil is less than 1%. Using coal and NG for EV’s extends our oil supplies keeping prices lower.

I give up on humanity.

We should be eradicated, every last one of us.

We are merely fleshy cockroaches.

EV’s use 10% of cobalt production. Portable devices use 30%.

none of that matters

there will be fascist tactics implemented to make gas cars unaffordable and unavailable

no gas car loans

car manufacturers will stop making gas cars or just limited quantities as exorbitant prices

banks and car manufacturers will happily go along cuz they know the penalties for not complying

its ev bus or bike

gas cars for the rich only

Another SF failure. Tesla charging stations are above 95%.

“If this mandate is not stopped, Americans will suffer the consequences”

The “ mandate” is going to be stopped by nature. Conversion of transportation at scale to batteries is not a possibility. It’s like a law against tides.

One researcher! EV’s can be charged at night when demand is low. AC demand is highest during afternoon peaks.

oh and by the way

once they fully implement green energy for electricity

charging EVs will be too expensive too

so bus bike foot

or maybe a flintstone car

they promise the jetsons

we get the flintstones

Here’s something to know: The scam climate change excuse can shut down fossil fuels long before any deadline.
The first weeks of Biden’s acceptance of being the resident of the White House he stepped on businesses working in fossil fuels. Shut down construction of major pipeline, no fracking, difficult to get oil leases and so on.

Business told to invest in years ahead profit possibilities for oil leases that will expire in time for destruction of fossil fuels will not invest.

Now, auto makers and dealers told there will e an end to gas powered vehicles will shrink and recoil from investing.

Like being told a long time ago: You are being put in charge of our 8 track cartridge division. The earlier guy retired after we closed the pet rock division. His dad ran Edsel for Ford Motor. He went into typewriters after that.

Gavin Newsome’s mandatory “EV by 2035” law will make sense once you understand that California’s progressive Democrats don’t want you to own a car of any sort.

They don’t want you to live in a single family home. They don’t want you to use energy unless it’s produced by wind or solar.

That pretty much means no air conditioning in addition to no cars. “Green” energy simply can’t supply the amount of electricity for you to live a 1st world lifestyle and they know it. They aren’t stupid. They don’t want you to live a 1st world lifestyle because if you do then you are killing mother Earth.

While we’re talking electric power grid stress, my area just got over a 26 hour power outage after a thunderstorm.

Having more of these is not pleasant. Michigan power place (DTE) proudly gave BS ads for 2-3 years with the PBS wimp sounding CEO saying “The cost of moving to all climate change friendly sources would be too much to handle on our costumer’s monthly bills all at once so we are phasing in increase month by month as we go to our clean energy future together.”

Way up at the top end of my anger meter for that stuff.

“2. The batteries of EVs rely on cobalt. “

Half of the Tesla’s sold do NOT use cobalt.

The industry is moving away from using cobalt.

No one knows how to play chess any more. They double down on one stupid idea that is logistically IMPOSSIBLE and will hurt humans. And not “save the planet” which we don’t have the power to “save” and doesn’t need “saving.”
