Facebook placed a 'fact-checking' label on a post written by a top economist stating that the United States is now in a recession - a move he termed 'Orwellian'. Two consecutive quarters of negative growth is the standard definition of a recession, and Phillip Magness, the research and education director at the American Institute for Economic Research, posted on Facebook a commentary about the country now being in a recession. The post - which is no longer visible - was marked by Facebook's fact checkers as being misleading.

The Gospel today is not merely a warning against greed, it is an instruction on income and wealth given by Jesus to help us root out greed. As the Gospel opens the problem of greed is presented, and then a prescribed perspective about wealth is offered. Lets take a look at both parts of this gospel.I. The Problem that is Portrayed – The text begins: Someone in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, tell my brother to share the inheritance with me.” He replied to him, “Friend, who appointed me as your judge and arbitrator?” Then he said to the...

Vanity of vanities. All is vanity! For so it is that a man who has laboured wisely, skilfully and successfully must leave what is his own to someone who has not toiled for it at all. This, too, is vanity and great injustice; for what does he gain for all the toil and strain that he has undergone under the sun? What of all...

The New York Times reported Friday that Fox News has not had Donald Trump on its network in over 100 days, which the paper said was part of a larger strategy to eliminate the former president as a major GOP player. The decision to shun Trump has been made at "the highest levels" of Fox's parent company, and is backed by its billionaire chairman, Rupert Murdoch, and his son, company CEO Lachlan Murdoch. Both are Republicans, but are said to have to developed a strong distaste for Trump. Earlier this month, the Murdoch-owned newspapers the New York Post and The...

‘Ron DeSantis would love to have her on the debate stage to take Trump down,’ strategist saysRep. Liz Cheney’s steely and forceful demeanor during the House Jan. 6 select committee’s public hearings has proved she is her father’s daughter. So it is no surprise the Wyoming Republican is not ruling out a presidential bid — even if to play a spoiler role.“At this point, I haven’t made a decision on 2024,” she told CNN’s Jake Tapper on Sunday. “I’ll make a decision on 2024 down the road.”“Her presidential primary prospects are limited. But she could make Trump’s life miserable during...

The 388-article proposed charter, up for a vote on Sept. 4, could destroy the country’s economy and democracy. The citizens of Chile will soon vote on a proposed constitution that’s being heralded as one of the most progressive in the world. The 388-article charter was drafted by a left-wing convention called in the aftermath of violent protests of October 2019. If voters approve it on Sept. 4, it could destroy Chile’s economy, democracy and integrity as a nation. One of the first things the new constitution would undermine is the independence of the judiciary. The proposed constitution would create a...

Fox News' shadow ban of former President Donald Trump shows it is feeding into anti-Trump propaganda of the House Jan. 6 Select Committee "liars" over the Trump truth-tellers, Trump's attorney Rudy Giuliani told Newsmax."I don't get how they're buying into the Jan. 6 committee fraud — I mean, completely fraudulent committee," Giuliani told "Saturday Report." "Look, the people on the Jan. 6 committee are the same ones that told us that there was Russian collusion. Trump and I — and the people that Fox apparently is banning — said there wasn't any Russian coalition. The people running the Jan. 6...

Back when Democrats were freaking out about the “Don’t Say Gay” bill that was on the table, conservatives started calling these teachers introducing sexuality into their kindergarten classes “groomers.” And it struck a nerve. Word went out in the media that “groomer” was an anti-LGBTQIA+ slur that insinuated gay and trans people were pedophiles. This editor keeps this tweet on hand because it so well defines groomer: Don't make me tap the sign pic.twitter.com/Qu3ON6t4I2 — Joseph (@Hockeyjunkie88) April 6, 2022 We especially like that “isolating them from their family” line because so many teachers featured by Libs of TikTok say...

Owning a private jet is one of those far-fetched luxuries the average person can only dream about during a five-hour domestic flight cramped up in economy class. For the uber-wealthy, a private jet is not just a luxury, but it can also be a pretty lucrative business. Celebrities can enjoy traveling anywhere on a moment’s notice, and when they themselves aren’t in the air, they can rent the jet out for others to use. Experts estimate that an hour of flight time aboard a private jet introduces about two tonnes (also known as metric tons) of carbon dioxide into the...
