Bovino spoke too soon. He makes it sound like the guy came at them with a gun and was subsequently tackled.
Obvious from vids he was recording other agitators. He got mixed up in that scuffle but never drew a gun.
I’ve watched every available video of the event several times. What happened is quite obvious, just as it is obvious that Bovino lies without conscience.
Did he brandish this weapon or just have it on him? I can’t tell from the videos or these statements.

The guy who was arrested after they shot him in the leg.
The morons who came out to block the arrest of this targeted individual included a true idiot who came packing a throw down, and drew it on BP agents who had already pepper sprayed the fool. Should have been enough— but no- the bozo drew, and paid with a defensive shot which killed him.
