LOS LUNAS — Valencia County commissioners on Thursday approved in a 3-2 vote a measure that opens the door to oil and gas exploration in the county following hours of raucous testimony from some of the more than 150 protesters and supporters who filled the Los Lunas Transportation Center. The measure authorizes a new “natural resource overlay zone” that allows developers to apply for exploratory surface and subsurface mineral development in the county without changing existing zoning on targeted properties. That could potentially expedite the permitting process to extract natural resources like oil and gas. More than two dozen people...

It may be known as the "Chinese Halloween," but the annual Hungry Ghost Festival — also called the Zhongyuan Festival by Taoists and Yulanpen Festival by Buddhists — is more than just a celebration of all things spooky. During the month of the festival, ghosts are believed to break free from the afterlife and walk among the living, and Hungry Ghost Festival celebrations include everything from planning a ghost-feeding ceremony to folding joss paper ingots. And while the festival includes some similarities with the Western traditions of Halloween, it has more in common with Día de los Muertos, or Day...

Poor seed harvests and supply chain issues are causing a temporary shortage. If you've not checked your "What Are We Running Low On Now" bingo card lately, give it a look to see if you have the Dijon mustard square. According to reports from both Canada and France, the condiment could be in short supply for the next few months, as a result of environmental factors and the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. Canada is one of the world's biggest exporters of mustard seeds, and drought-like conditions in the western part of the country led to a poor harvest this season. According...

At least 260,000 American troops — or about 13 percent of the 2.1 million total force — are not fully vaccinated despite a Biden administration vaccine mandate for the military, and many of them could face discharge.According to the Department of Defense website, at least 268,858 service members as of July 13 are still not in compliance with Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s August 2021 mandate for every member of the military to be fully vaccinated with two doses of a vaccine. That figure does not count the thousands who have not taken any doses.Only about 20,000 of the more than...

"And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." "And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us. And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger." "And another angel came and stood at...

.....Speaking to CNBC’s Hadley Gamble on Friday, Prince Turki Al-Faisal said Biden was coming in as a “much diminished president” compared with when he was inaugurated in January 2021.“As an example, on energy issues, he came in with a policy to stop completely fossil fuel usage not only in the United States, but worldwide, and now he is finding himself having to rely on fossil fuels as a means of meeting the energy shortage that has come about, not only because of the Ukraine war, but also because of U.S. policy itself that shut down pipelines and stopped issuing ......

CNN primetime host Don Lemon is demanding the media cover Republicans differently than Democrats, suggesting they are a danger to society and cannot be “coddled.” It’s a refreshing change for the liberal media to just flat out admit their bias. Lemon’s comments came amidst an appearance on “New Day” Thursday morning as the discussion pivoted to covering conservatives in the media. The CNN anchor said he believes giving equal time and coverage to both political parties is a ‘false equivalency.’ “We sit around and we talk about these things and we want to give this false equivalence to Democrats and...

Trump-Endorsed Arizona Gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake pulverized her primary opponent, RINO billionaire wife Karrin Taylor Robson, while celebrating the first anniversary of her campaign launch on Wednesday, June 1. Lake has previously called out Karrin’s terrible liberal record of support for transgender restrooms, abortion, and gun control, her anti-America comments, and her affiliations with the Arizona swamp. Because of this and many other reasons, Karrin Taylor Robson refuses to defend her positions in a debate Lake.It doesn’t matter how much of her husband’s money she spends — Arizona does not want another Open-Borders, Globalist RINO. Greece on Thursday scored a win in its fight to protect their right to the term 'Feta' as Europe's top court reprimanded Denmark for not blocking local companies from using the name for sales outside the European Union. Greece claims feta as part of its cultural heritage because it has made the sheep and goat milk cheese for 6,000 years. The Luxembourg-based Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) agreed with its assertion.

The calls and text messages are relentless. On the other end are doctors and scientists at the top levels of the National Institutes for Health, Food and Drug Administration and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. They are variously frustrated, exasperated and alarmed about the direction of the agencies to which they have devoted their careers. “It’s like a horror movie I’m being forced to watch and I can’t close my eyes,” one senior FDA official lamented. “People are getting bad advice and we can’t say anything.” That particular FDA doctor was referring to two recent developments inside the agency....

After the 2018 killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi Joe Biden promised in 2019 to make Saudi “the pariah that they are.” At the time, Mike Pompeo called that "an enormous mistake." But that was before the US needed to replace the oil from the SPR that Biden was selling to China and others (In my opinion Biden is intentionally draining the SPR to remove the US petroleum safety net). Now Biden arrives in Saudi with a fist bump for MBS, ready to get on his knees and beg for more oil. Joe would have Americans believe it is...

Mars Inc. has been sued by a consumer who claims that Skittles candies are unfit to eat because they contain a known toxin that the company had pledged six years ago to phase out. In a proposed class action filed on Thursday in Oakland, Calif., federal court, Jenile Thames accused Mars of endangering unsuspecting Skittles eaters by using “heightened levels” of titanium dioxide, or TiO2, as a food additive. The lawsuit also said titanium dioxide will be banned in the European Union next month after a food safety regulator there deemed it unsafe because of “genotoxicity,” or the ability to...
