Rep. Maxine Waters told a group of homeless people to “go home,” dropped an f-bomb, and then tried to intimidate a reporter out of writing a story about it. Last week, a group of homeless people were misled by social media rumors and showed up at an event by the organization Fathers and Mothers Who Care. Hundreds of people arrived believing that the organization was handing out Section 8 housing vouchers. Waters, who was in attendance, told the crowd of desperate people to “go home.” “We don’t got no home, that’s why we’re here!” one of the people responded. “What...

I have been meditating for the past few days on Psalms 142 and 143. I was interested in what King David was going through when he said, “When my spirit was overwhelmed within me, then you knew my path. In the way in which I walk they have secretly set a snare for me. Look on my right hand and see, for there is no one who acknowledges me; refuge has failed me; no one cares for my soul” (Psalm 142:3-4, NKJV). David actually cried to the Lord, “Attend to my cry, for I am brought very low… Bring my...

While speaking to reporters on Thursday, Sen. Joe Manchin (D-WV) urged the Biden administration to reconsider its reported plans to lift Title 42 and expressed his opposition to ending Title 42. Manchin added that, “If anything, we ought to be looking at permanency on Title 42,” and that doing so might push Congress to fix immigration policy. Manchin stated, “I think they should reconsider. I sent a letter. I’m against removing Title 42. If anything, we ought to be looking at permanency on Title 42, and having a good — maybe that would get us to — spur us to...

“‘Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish but to fulfill’” (Matthew 5:17). The ceremonial law governed the form of Israel’s worship. When Jesus died on the cross, He fulfilled that law as well as the judicial. Sacrifice was the heart of all Old Testament worship, and as the perfect sacrifice, Jesus brought all the other sacrifices to an end. While He was on the cross, “the veil of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom” (Matt. 27:51). Christ Himself became the new and perfect way...

The government insists it will ban so-called conversion therapy for gay or bisexual people in England and Wales-but not for transgendered people. It comes hours after it had said it would drop the ban entirely. The announcement that it would explore "non-legislative measures" to prevent the practice prompted a furious response from LGBT groups and many MP's. According to NHS England, conversion therapy tries to change someone's sexual orientation or gender identity. A senior government source has told the BBC the ban will feature in the next Queen's Speech...

In the week since Biden Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson was questioned about her pattern of reduced sentencing in grisly child pornography cases, two narratives have developed. The first view holds that the question of sentencing, and the implication that Judge Jackson is soft on child pornography offenders, is “disingenuous,” “a smear,” and “meritless to the point of demagoguery.” According to this narrative, such claims distort the rate at which judges routinely depart from the sentencing guidelines and do not distinguish the harm between the production of child pornography and mere possession of it. This view also seems...

COLOMBO, April 1 (Reuters) - Police imposed an overnight curfew in several parts of Sri Lanka's main city of Colombo early on Friday after protests over the government's handling of the country's worst economic crisis in decades turned violent, an official said. Hundreds of protesters gathered near President Gotabaya Rajapaksa's private residence in a Colombo suburb late on Thursday and were broken up by police using tear gas and water cannons, a Reuters witness said. Amal Edirimanne, a senior superintendent of police, said a curfew had been imposed in four police divisions of Colombo, the country's commercial capital.

Gas prices have skyrocketed across the U.S., jumping above $4 a gallon in most states. Now, local leaders are trying to find ways to help their residents cope with the price hikes, with Chicago announcing it had established a $12.5 million program to provide transportation relief for low-income residents. On Thursday, Mayor Lori Lightfoot announced that in order to combat increasing gas prices she would be launching the Chicago Moves program, which will provide 50,000 prepaid gas gift cards worth $150 each along with 100,000 prepaid cards for public transit worth $50 each.

President Biden released a video message to mark International Transgender Day of Visibility on Thursday, saying that transgender people are “made in the image of God” and that their parents should affirm their gender identity. Biden, who as a senator backed an array of anti-LGBT legislation, slammed what he called “hateful bills” in several states that restrict transgender participation in girls’ sports and limit discussion of sexuality and gender identity. “To everyone celebrating Transgender Day of Visibility, I want you to know that your president sees you — Jill, Kamala, Doug, our entire administration sees you — for who you...

Step 1: Offer a premium fixed price for gold to domestic Russian banks who can't sell their gold internationally due to sanctions, encouraging domestic gold flows into Bank of Russia. Step 2: Strengthen the Ruble internationally by insisting on energy payments in Rubles, turning fixed price into a premium internationally as well, encouraging international gold flows into Russia. Step 3: Turn the Ruble into a credible gold substitute at a fixed rate. The 5000RUB window closes June 30. Does Russia declare the Ruble convertible to gold after that? At what rate? Rather than speculate on the Ruble, just buy the...

There are several historical referents we should keep in mind about the Ukraine war. First, no-fly zones. Lots of Westerners are calling for NATO aircraft to establish a no-fly zone above Ukraine to stop Russian bombing of Ukrainian cities. That is a terrible idea. Russian planes can still launch missiles from the nearby airspace of Russia and Belarus. No nation in history has declared a no-fly zone against an adversarial nuclear power. No-fly zones are best known from the 12-year air block over Iraq in between the two Gulf Wars. NATO also imposed a no-fly zone over Bosnia and Herzegovina...

The Federal Election Commission has fined Hillary Clinton's 2016 campaign $8,000 and the Democratic National Committee $105,000 for obscuring their funding of the "Steele dossier," a 2016 opposition research report that sought to highlight alleged links between Donald Trump and Russia. The bipartisan election commission also dismissed a complaint against Christopher Steele, the author of the dossier that caused a firestorm of allegations and investigations that shook the early months of Trump's presidency. The campaign mislabeled Steele's work as "legal services" and "legal and compliance consulting" in campaign filings, the FEC concluded...... Steele's report concluded, based on anonymous sources, that...

Indicted Former House Speaker's personal campaign fund never topped $3.4 million before Gov. Pritzker came along. No single person or labor union has donated more to Madigan than the $10.17 million that our billionaire governor stuffed into indicted former House Speaker Michael Madigan's campaign war chests. ... Pritzker has gone from being the jolly beneficiary of Madigan's legislative might to desperately trying to distance himself from the indicted political boss in every which way — from kicking the former House Speaker's wife off the Illinois Art Council to "accepting the resignations" of top Illinois Tollway officials he appointed after a...

Vice President Kamala Harris went viral once again, this time for remarks she made during a White House event alongside Jamaican Prime Minister Andrew Holness. During Wednesday's event, Harris and Holness touted relations between the U.S. and Jamaica and offered highlights of what was discussed in their meeting. However, the vice president raised eyebrows when she attempted to explain how the U.S. was going to assist the Caribbean nation from the negative impacts of the pandemic. "We also recognize just as it has been in the United States, for Jamaica, one of the issues that has been presented as an...
