Listen to this article 0:00 / 2:41 1X BeyondWords Angelina Jolie is on the ground in Yemen to aid refugees. Jolie, 46, emphasized the need to support all displaced families and refugees as she arrived in the capital city of Yemen on Sunday amid the ongoing conflict between Ukraine and Russia. The U.N. refugee agency said it hopes that Jolie’s visit would draw attention to growing humanitarian needs in Yemen, the Arab World’s poorest country, ahead of the annual High Level Pledging Conference for Yemen on March 16. "I've landed in Aden, to meet displaced families and refugees for UNHCR...

In the days before Russia’s all out invasion, white Z’s started showing up on Russian military hardware. Now they are everywhere. What started out as curious markings slapped in white paint on Russian tanks and trucks has now become a symbol of Vladimir Putin’s own version of World War Z. Now, the “Z” has become akin to a new “swastika” or symbol of hatred and is showing up everywhere supporters of Russia’s uninvited invasion of Ukraine can be found. Kamil Galeev, a Galina Starovoitova Fellow at Woodrow Wilson Center, has been curating examples of the creepy character’s use on Twitter....

I have included a "How to prep" website because I had to list a valid link. But here's a few questions I have and want to get your input of how you're preparing. First, I have always been a "prepper lite". Food storage, extra food, life straws, ammo, defense, a garden, dried foods, frozen meats, gasoline, LPG, AWD fuel efficient SUV, items to barter with, etc. I always thought we were sufficiently prepped until Covid happened, then I realized, there's far more thought involved, especially when living up North in PA with heat, ample supplies of food, water, coffee, first...

The California legislature is now pushing to make our state the most COVID restricted in the country. This, despite Governor Newsom stating he’s moving to treat the virus as endemic. There are 8 bills in all and every one is a misinformed boondoggle. Here’s how NPR summarizes the various bills lined up in Sacramento. I’ve added my comments in brackets: -SB 871 would require all children 0 to 17 to get the COVID-19 vaccine to attend child care or school; -SB 866 would allow kids 12 to 17 to get the COVID-19 vaccine without parental consent; -SB 1479 would require...

Russia’s ministry on trade and industry is recommending the country’s fertilizer producers temporarily halt exports. Reuters says it’s a sign that sanctions imposed after Russia invaded Ukraine might impact other countries. Many major international shipping companies suspended virtually all cargo shipments to and from Russia to comply with sanctions. The Russian ministry says, “We have recommended Russian producers temporarily suspend export shipments of Russian fertilizers until carriers resume their work and provide guarantees that Russian fertilizer exports will get fully completed.” Russia produces 50 million tons of fertilizers every year, 13 percent of the world’s total. The country is a...

Pray For The Peace of JerusalemTitus 1I1 Paul, a servant of God and an apostle of Jesus Christ to further the faith of God’s elect and their knowledge of the truth that leads to godliness— 2 in the hope of eternal life, which God, who does not lie, promised before the beginning of time, 3 and which now at his appointed season he has brought to light through the preaching entrusted to me by the command of God our Savior, 4 To Titus, my true son in our common faith: Grace and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus...

By the end of 2022, we are going to witness very serious shortages of food in many parts of the globe. In fact, World Bank President David Malpass is openly admitting that we are now facing “a huge supply shock” as a result of the war in Ukraine. Of course we were already moving into a global food crisis even before the war erupted. According to the UN, worldwide food prices in February 2022 were 20.7 percent higher than they were in February 2021, fertilizer prices have gone absolutely nuts, crop production is down all over the planet due to...

An experimental new type of cancer treatment has yielded some impressive results in mice: the eradication of advanced-stage ovarian and colorectal cancer in the animals as little as six days. The new therapy has only been tested in mice so far, so let's not get too excited just yet. However, the early signs are promising, and human clinical trials could be underway by the end of the year. The treatment involves tiny 'drug factory' beads that are implanted into the body and deliver a continuous, high dose of interleukin-2 (IL2) – a natural compound that enlists white blood cells in...

Russia’s currency sank to a record low Monday as traders struggled to get access to the ruble. The ruble fell to 137 to a dollar, a decline of more than 10% from Friday’s close, as traders say that the ability to buy and sell the Russian currency has become more limited as fewer banks want to settle transactions against it in the offshore market.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Public transit systems straining to win back riders after being crushed by the COVID-19 pandemic are getting a $3.7 billion boost to stay afloat and invest in new fleets of electric buses. With mask restrictions fading and workers beginning to return to offices, the Biden administration said Monday it was awarding $2.2 billion in coronavirus relief funding to 35 financially strapped transit agencies in 18 states. The money would be used to prop up day-to-day operations, including staffing and payroll as well as cleaning and sanitization to limit the spread of illness in public transportation. A federal...

Vladimir Putin’s invasion of Ukraine marks the end of the West’s Era of Illusions. It was an era in which Western elites obsessed about solving climate change because the climate crisis was far more dangerous than issues of war and peace and the stability of the international system. They even convinced themselves that climate change causes war, so climate change policy could double as national security policy; and, for many years, the annual round of kumbaya UN climate talks was the apogee of international relations. In a BBC World Service interview, presidential climate envoy John Kerry expressed concern about the...

Russia's invasion of Ukraine appears to have ground to a halt with no significant territory captured despite a weekend of heavy fighting, with Kyiv's men claiming to have taken out dozens of helicopters and recaptured a city this morning - sparking hopes that the unlikeliest of victories may be on the cards. Putin's men renewed their bombardments on Mariupol, Chernihiv, Mykolaiv and Kharkiv this morning as his forces also tried to surround Kyiv in preparation for an assault, but have not significantly advanced their frontline since the city of Kherson and nuclear power plant at Zaporizhzhia were captured last week....

YouTuber ‘The Quartering’ is putting up a massive $10,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of the person or group responsible for a series of swattings involving podcast host Tim Pool. 2022 has been a crazy year so far, but for Timcast host Tim Pool, it’s been a dangerous one, to say the least. So far, Pool has had to deal with five separate swatting incidents with armed police showing up to his studio and now even his own personal home. With the dangers appearing to escalate, fellow YouTuber TheQuartering is stepping up to help his friend by...

Rare and decorated bone and ivory items from the biblical period and ancient bowls dating back some 1,500 years, bearing spells and incantations in Hebrew, were uncovered in the home of a resident of the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood of Jerusalem, suspected of illegal trade in antiquities. ..... The incantation bowls, known as the “swearing bowls” were used as a kind of amulet in ancient times, and date back to the 8th-4th centuries CE. It was common practice to bury them under the house floor for protection. Inside the bowls, magical inscriptions were written in the Babylonian-Aramaic language. The inscription in...

Dr. Yuval Noah Harari, an official WEF contributor, details what Mr. Schwab means by “it’s you who are changed,” explaining that “in the past, many tyrants and governments wanted to [hack millions of people], but nobody understood biology well enough,” Harari says at the start of the video.“And nobody had enough computing power and data to hack millions of people. Neither the Gestapo nor the KGB could do it. But soon, at least some corporations and governments will be able to systematically hack all the people,” he goes on to say, adding, “We humans should get used to the idea...
