When the prospect of prison hangs over one’s head many people start talking… According to the latest reports, Devon Archer, a former Hunter Biden business associate, who was convicted for a financial scheme which defrauded a native American tribe of roughly $60 million is now seeking a plea deal. Archer has managed to avoid sentencing for years now, but now that the gavel is about to come down Devon Archer is reportedly looking to plead for no prison time or some sort of reduced sentence. Now this is merely speculation, but stay with me here… I am willing to bet...

The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board estimates that just 3% of Washington’s cannabis shops are majority Black owned, while Seattle doesn’t have any that fit that description. While former Sonics star Shawn Kemp is the namesake of a recently-opened shop in Seattle, he only owns a 5% stake in the business. Mosqueda further pointed out that communities of color were disproportionately targeted for marijuana-related arrests prior to legalization, despite roughly equal levels of use among all racial demographics. After marijuana was legalized, “Black people were largely left out of ownership opportunities,” she noted. In San Francisco, newly-registered cannabis firms...

I thought this was a fascinating thread by Michael Caputo. Caputo has been in the political world for over 30 years, working in various capacities, from President Reagan to President Trump. He's been around the block and knows how the deep-state operates, inside-out. Caputo was one of the innocent Trump affiliates targeted by Mueller, where they demolished him financially, and created enough stress to cause cancer. Durham is bringing justice to the criminals who tried to ruin him. Caputo's perspective on how the deep-state works carries weight. He posted this short three-tweet thread, responding to Hans Mahncke's tweet about the...

WALNUT CREEK — BART police arrested a man on a no-bail theft warrant Monday night following a major delay aboard the system, officials said. Officers initially responded about 5:15 p.m. for a report that a male was holding a female hostage on board a train at the Walnut Creek station and that he had a gun. BART said Tuesday that that report was discovered to be unfounded. The police response and subsequent investigation led to trains being shut down for about an hour, according to the agency. The suspect was taken to the Martinez Detention Facility.

Bronco fever hasn't abated; buyers are still clamoring for the world's most recent hardcore off-roader. We'd normally consider this a good problem for Ford to have, but these aren't normal times and the Bronco isn't a normal vehicle. Two years of industry disruptions have dropped continuous bombs on delivery times, on top of Bronco-specific ailments like the defective tops that led to huge backups last summer — and all this for a rig that some buyers first signed up to buy in 2020. Automotive News reports that the chip shortage is biting especially hard into Bronco deliveries at the moment,...

OTTAWA—The federal government says the RCMP is working with financial institutions to “unfreeze” bank accounts locked by emergency orders that targeted people who organized, participated in, or donated to the so-called Freedom Convoy blockades. Isabelle Jacques, assistant deputy minister of finance, told a Commons standing committee Tuesday that the RCMP began “sharing information” — related to the end of “unlawful” blockades — with banks and financial institutions as of Monday that should lead to affected accounts being “unfrozen.”

The Supreme Court today rejected a request from over 2,000 health care workers in Maine to stop the state’s COVID vaccine mandate that would make them lose their jobs if they don’t get the COVID vaccine despite their religious objections to it. Some of the health care workers are Christians who object to the COVID vaccine because the vaccines were made with or tested on cells from babies killed in abortions. The high court in October rejected an emergency request by the same plaintiffs seeking to prevent Maine from enforcing the mandate against them, and conservative justices dissented from the...

VATICAN CITY, Feb 14 (Reuters) - Ukraine is open to a Vatican mediation of its conflict with Russia and wants Pope Francis to visit as soon as possible, even in the current situation, Kyiv's new ambassador to the Holy See said on Monday. Speaking to Reuters in a telephone interview from Kyiv, Andriy Yurash, said the Vatican was considering its response to invitations from both political and Catholic Church officials in Ukraine for a visit. Yurash, 53, noted that last April, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy told an Italian newspaper that the Vatican would be an ideal place for negotiating an...

Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA) said Tuesday on MSNBC’s “All In” that the upcoming vote in Congress to sanction Russia for their invasion into Ukrainian territory will expose if Republican lawmakers are “appeasers” of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Guest-host Alex Wagner said, “President Trump’s comments today calling Putin’s moves genius probably haven’t helped anything. You are really convinced that next week when you guys are back in session, Republicans are going to play ball with Democrats and effectively work to further the Biden foreign policy agenda, the national security agenda?”

Authorities in India's southern state of Karnataka demolished a 20-foot-tall statue of Jesus, which had been standing in the village for 18 years, claiming it was built on land earmarked by the government for an animal pasture. The administration in the Kolar district said last week's demolition of the statue next to St. Francis Xavier's Church in Gokunte village. The Karnataka High Court had ordered the destruction, but local Christian leaders said the case was still pending. Bengaluru Archbishop Peter Machado condemned the statue's demolition, stating that the church possessed ownership documents for the land where the statue sat. According...

Embattled Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón's staffers say he was shamed into changing his stance on 'outlier' juvenile sentencing because of a bombshell report that suggested one of the criminals he advocated for had little remorse. He flip-flopped on his famously reformative approach to justice last week after jailhouse audio recordings obtained by Fox News captured transgender pedophile Hannah Tubbs bragging about her light sentence in a juvenile facility. Tubbs was sentenced to two years in jail for molesting a 10-year-old girl inside a restaurant bathroom. After the top prosecutor became aware of troubling comments Tubbs made in...

Moscow, February 21, Interfax - Kiev is continuing to harass parishioners and clergy of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate, Russian President Vladimir Putin said. "Kiev is continuing to prepare a crackdown on the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate," he said in an address to the Russian nation. Putin noted that this is not an emotional but a document-based assessment. "The Ukrainian authorities have cynically turned the tragedy of the church split into an instrument of state policy. The current leadership of the country does not respond to the requests of the Ukrainian citizens to repeal...

Microsoft has revealed it operates a planet-scale distributed scheduling service for AI workloads that it has modestly dubbed "Singularity". Described in a pre-press paper [PDF] co-authored by 26 Microsoft employees, Singularity's aim is described as helping the software giant control costs by driving high utilization for deep learning workloads. Singularity achieves that goal with what the paper describes as a "novel workload-aware scheduler that can transparently preempt and elastically scale deep learning workloads to drive high utilization without impacting their correctness or performance, across a global fleet of AI accelerators (e.g., GPUs, FPGAs)." The paper spends more time on the...

China has doubled down on its response to accusations from the Morrison government over its military conduct, delivering a stern warning to Australia. On Monday, Beijing rejected claims from Canberra it had acted in a dangerous manner by shining a laser at an Australian aircraft in waters off the Northern Territory and instead flipped the accusations, saying it was Australia who was in fact the aggressor towards its naval vessel. And on Tuesday, in response to Prime Minister Scott Morrison insisting Australia's air force had every right to be in close proximity to the vessel, China's foreign ministry spokesperson Wang...

In a report by Bakersfield ABC affiliate KERO-TV, gas station customers expressed being overwhelmed by the extremely high gas prices. They’re too damn high,” one customer told reporters, adding it’s made commuting much more difficult as she normally fills her tank three times a week. Another customer remarked he’s paying over $110 to fill up his 25-gallon tank, with yet another customer saying his 30-gallon tank would cost $150 to fill up. In addition to high demand, the expensive fuel cost is directly correlated to the price of crude oil hitting $99 a barrel as fears increase the Biden administration...

On Tuesday, an overwhelming 97.9 percent of the prosecutors in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office union (ADDA) voted YES to endorse the recall of Soros-funded L.A. District Attorney George Gascón. These people are “front-line prosecutors tasked with implementing George Gascón’s policies,” ADDA noted in a press release about the vote. The vote occurred after more than 30 cities within the County of Los Angeles issued votes of no confidence in the District Attorney amid a skyrocketing crime wave in the city.
