I’ve spent exactly 25 seconds in the company of Tom Brady, during a grip-and-grin moment at a Tony Robbins event. He and his then Patriots teammate and receiver Julian Edelman were posing for photos with gobsmacked attendees. My twin 14-year-old sons and I were waiting our turn. When we stepped up for the photo, Brady unconsciously put his arm around the shoulders of one of my sons. To me, the gesture spoke volumes about who Tom Brady really is. A lot of fans despise Brady, perhaps because he’s so successful, and in our society, we love to tear down those...

Sens. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) reintroduced legislation Tuesday that would carve out liability protections for online platforms that have child sexual abuse content. The Eliminating Abusive and Rampant Neglect of Interactive Technologies (EARN IT) Act was advanced unanimously through the Senate Judiciary Committee in the summer of 2020, but was not given a floor vote before the end of the legislative calendar.

Parents have been denied the right to know the rate of adverse reactions to the Covid-19 vaccination in children.A High Court judge in the UK has sided with government policy to keep secret the number of children who have suffered adverse reactions—including any who have died—as a result of having the vaccine.A mother, identified only as EF, had asked the UK’s Office of National Statistics (ONS) to release the data so that parents can make an informed decision about having their child vaccinated. After the ONS refused, EF took legal action to force it to reveal the numbers, and she...

SEN. TED CRUZ: "The Democrats are so casually racist that they'll make that promise, and not only that, it ends up being insulting to African American women ... When Biden starts out by saying he has a quota system, he diminishes the achievements of those African American women."

Steve KirschJan 30Credit to UCSF Professor Aditi Bhargava for bringing this particular UK FOIA request to my attention. I haven’t seen it anywhere else, so I thought I’d share it with you in case you missed it as well. The request was:Please supply deaths caused solely by covid 19, where covid is the only cause of death listed on the death certificate, broken down by age group and gender between feb 2020 up to and including dec 2021.Here is the most interesting part of the full response which covered nearly two years since the very start of the pandemic: the number...

Toronto, ON—Jewish organizations in Canada reject and condemn a new Amnesty International report that demonizes Israel and calls into question its right to exist. The report, to be published Tuesday, ignores the right of Jews to their ancestral homeland, where they have lived for thousands of years. It denies Jews the right to self-determination and seeks to delegitimize the world’s only Jewish state using unfounded and unsubstantiated smears. The report ignores ongoing terrorist violence directed at Israelis and minimizes the violence perpetrated by Palestinian terror organizations. Notably, the report disregards the reality of Israel being the only democratic state in...

ICYMI, the Biden administration is giving out 400 million free N95 respirators. Here’s the offer:Here’s what they aren’t telling you about these free N95 respirators:An N95 respirator will “work” for around 2 hours in a hospital or similar setting with filtered airAn N95 respirator will “work” for around 30 min outdoorsIf you have facial hair, forget it. It will not seal. If you were expecting at best 1% protection before, it is now 0%.So if 200M Americans receive two respirators each, they get around 4 hours of protection. And that only works if the respirators are fitted perfectly with no...

Whoopi Goldberg ‘is in deep s–t’ and should be fired, ABC insiders claim There is growing fury inside ABC over Whoopi Goldberg’s controversial Holocaust claims, with insiders insisting that her apology isn’t enough and demanding that she be fired. On Monday’s edition of “The View,” Goldberg, 66, alleged that the Holocaust was “not about race,” claiming Nazis and Jews were both white. She doubled down on the claim on “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” on Monday after stating via Twitter, “I stand corrected.” However, sources tell Page Six that staffers and fellow hosts on “The View,” as well as...

California lawmakers are weighing a bill that would ban sales of cigarette filters and other single-use tobacco and cannabis products — such as single-use vape pods or cigarillo tips. Supporters of the bill point to the damage that such products do to both human health and to the environment, with cigarette butts accounting for nearly a third of the trash picked up by volunteers during the annual Coastal Cleanup Day. The bill would specifically ban the sale or furnishing of single-use filters made of any material, attachable single-use plastic tips that are commonly used on cigarillos, and single-use e-cigarettes or...

Biden spokesperson Jen “The Ginger Goebbels” Paski and the White House always have an excuse for bad news. Perhaps they watched John Belushi in “The Blues Brothers” for help with “It wasn’t my fault!” excuses. (Bloomberg) — The White House is lowering expectations for this week’s U.S. jobs report, saying that brief absences of workers due to omicron could overstate the number of unemployed people for last month. Several White House officials have teed up Friday’s report with warnings, saying that the week when surveys were taken for the January payroll numbers was the height of illness absences in the...

U.S. Sen. Rand Paul’s re-election campaign announced on Monday they have raised $3.8 million for Kentucky’s junior Senator’s 2022 re-election campaign in the final quarter of 2021. The fundraising haul brings Paul’s total raised to $14 million throughout the entire year and leaves him with $8 million cash on hand, according to his campaign. Paul garnered 89,508 donations in the last quarter of 2021, and over 250,000 donations during the course of the year. “Individuals from every corner of the commonwealth, along with those who stand for liberty nationwide, continue to support Dr. Paul’s movement,” said Jake Cox, Deputy Campaign...

OTTAWA—As truckers continue to march on Canada's capital to very politely ask for their human rights back, Trudeau is doubling down on his position. In a fiery speech this week, Trudeau demanded truckers follow his example and get vaccinated like he did, so they don't catch COVID like he did. "Listen, I have COVID right now, and trust me—you don't want this," said Trudeau in his classic Trudeau girly voice. "I know you all are all deplorable evil disgusting racists, and there's no avoiding that. But if you would just get the jab like me, you could at least avoid...

MEXICO CITY (AP) — Mexico’s central bank says remittances — the money migrants send home to their relatives — grew by 27.1% in 2021 to total about $51.6 billion for the year as a whole. That is a record amount, despite the coronavirus pandemic, and would surpass almost all other sources of Mexico’s foreign income, including tourism, oil exports and most manufacturing exports.

Earth has officially been joined in its orbit around the Sun by a new trojan asteroid. Named 2020 XL5, this chunk of rock is only the second object of its type ever to have been conclusively identified. Its discovery suggests that perhaps Earth trojans may be more common than we knew, and offers new insights into these mysterious rocks. Like the first trojan, astronomers predict that 2020 XL5 will hang around for at least 4,000 years before zipping off to parts elsewhere. "The discovery of a second Earth trojan asteroid may enhance our knowledge of the dynamics of this elusive...

WASHINGTON (AP) — Sen. Joe Manchin declared Tuesday that President Joe Biden’s vast social and environment bill is “dead,” using his strongest language to date to underscore that any revival of Democrats’ top domestic priorities would have to arise from fresh negotiations. “What Build Back Better bill?” Manchin said Tuesday, using the legislation’s name, when reporters asked about it. “There is no, I mean, I don’t know what you’re all talking about.” Asked if he’d had any talks about it, he added, “No, no, no no. It’s dead.”

A second consecutive plunge in revenues and a multibillion-dollar loss are hardly a surprise but the last two years leave the balance sheet looking very stretched, so stretched the valuation is less attractive and the risks are higher now that they were in 2019. As such it is time to admit that a chunk of the money sunk into the shares at nearly £36 a pop is gone and move on. This may seem perverse at a time when travel restrictions are easing, the prospects for improved bookings for the key summer season are improving and this column continues to...

The City of Oakland is due to become the latest city in California to require vaccine proof to enter restaurants and other similar establishments on Tuesday, leaving many owners worried about increased financial hardships. The Proof of Vaccination Ordinance, authored by City Councilman Dan Kalb, had been introduced and passed just last month. Under the ordinance, proof of vaccination will be needed for restaurants, bars, coffee houses, and other places where food and drink is served, as well as theaters, concert venues, indoor entertainment venues, gyms, senior facilities, and any large indoor event.

Speculation circulating online in 2020 has resurfaced on social media claiming that UK Labour Party leader Sir Keir Starmer was responsible for failing to prosecute Jimmy Savile, the late TV and radio presenter revealed after his death to be one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders. Starmer was the head of the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) at the time of the incidents, but he was not the reviewing lawyer for the case, the CPS said and a report on the handling of the cases showed.

KATY, Texas — From a secluded spot in her high school library, a 17-year-old girl spoke softly into her cellphone, worried that someone might overhear her say the things she’d hidden from her parents for years. They don’t know she’s queer, the student told a reporter, and given their past comments about homosexuality’s being a sin, she’s long feared they would learn her secret if they saw what she reads in the library. That space, with its endless rows of books about characters from all sorts of backgrounds, has been her “safe haven,” she said — one of the few...
