Police are warning Frederick County residents of a growing scam involving fake street performers, known as buskers, stealing personal information. The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office in a news release urged residents to be on the lookout for “fake” buskers asking for money through cash and electronic credit or debit donations who are using credit card skimmers to steal personal information. Buskers are people who perform music or other entertainment for monetary donations. Fakers act like they’re playing the violin, for example, when they’re actually imitating the action while a soundtrack plays from a hidden device, police warn. They may pretend...

Video showed Duryea, in an orange suit and with an axe in his left hand, buffeted by winds and spraying water as he was lowered toward the car through falling snow. After slowly spinning and swinging past the car, he was able to grab hold on the passenger side, open the door and disappear inside. About two minutes later, with water surging around the vehicle and over the precipice about 50 yards (meters) downstream, Duryea emerged and signaled to the helicopter, which then hoisted him and the motionless driver from the water. It was unclear how the car got into...

Brother Dave Wilkerson used to tell one of the most fantastic stories. It was about this 82-year-old woman who was living by herself in one of the New York boroughs. One night, she heard someone start hammering on the front door. Her bedroom was at the top of the stairs; she looked down and saw a man kick open her door. What do you do? You're 82 years old; this man's about to steal everything you have. She just started crying out, "Acts 2:38, Acts 2:38, Acts 2:38." The man froze then got down on the floor, spread his arms...

Pope Francis is sharply responding against the European Commission's controversial efforts to make its communications more inclusive after leaked internal guidelines drew backlash for trying to "cancel Christmas," telling staff to "avoid assuming that everyone is Christian" and celebrates Christmas. The Religion News Service (RNS) reports internal communications of the European Commission were leaked last week by the Italian daily Il Giornale. The 30-page document, titled "Union of Equality," advised members to "avoid assuming that everyone is Christian," especially during the winter holidays. (snip) Francis, 84, spoke to reporters Monday on a plane returning to the Vatican from his trip...

“. . . Made in the likeness of men” (Philippians 2:7). Christ was fully God and fully man. In his Systematic Theology theologian Charles Hodge wrote, “The Scriptures teach that Christ had a complete human nature. That is, He had a true body and a rational soul. By a true body is meant a material body which in everything essential was like the bodies of ordinary men. . . . It is no less plain that Christ had a rational soul. He thought, reasoned, and felt.” Hodge’s assessment is correct, for Christ was given all the essential attributes of humanity....

he theme is “Western civilization at the crossroads.” Far be it from me to doubt that the West is on the precipice of something enormous. But “crossroads” implies a map. Do we have one? Is a piece of paper showing the way forward—whether predictive or hopeful—even possible? I’ve noticed that a lot of people more or less “on my side,” or who see things basically as I do, are extremely confident that they know what is going to happen next. Their certainty is entirely independent of what they think they know. Some believe that the end—the collapse of present ruling...

So Russian President Vladimir Putin, by himself, and United States President Joe Biden, surrounded by aides, finally had their secret video link conference for two hours and two minutes – with translators placed in different rooms. That was their first serious exchange since they met in person in Geneva last June – the first Russia-US summit since 2018. For global public opinion, led to believe a “war” in Ukraine was all but imminent, what’s left is essentially a torrent of spin. So let’s start with a simple exercise focusing on the key issue of the video link – Ukraine –...

Deputy Prime Minister and Nationals Leader Barnaby Joyce has tested positive for COVID-19 after arriving in the United States. Mr. Joyce told ABC Radio England he had been experiencing mild symptoms and chose to get tested. "Look obviously (I am) very frustrated I'm going to be locked up in a room by myself for 10 days, but that's part of the process," he said. "It's probably developing, I'm probably very much in the early stages--but I'm more worried about being in a room by myself to be honest." Mr. Joyce is fully vaccinated against COVID-19...

It seems as though ABC News journalists are still capable of feeling shame. How else to explain the network’s attempt to make everyone forget their initial (and very excited) coverage of Jussie Smollett's claims that a MAGA-loving mob assaulted him on a frigid Chicago night? In 2021, ABC is attempting to bury the story. The actor's elaborate 2018 accusations — and thus ABC’s reporting — quickly unraveled and the Empire actor is now on trial for lying. On Monday, Smollett offered convoluted testimony in his own defense. Usually, a celebrity criminal trial would be of interest to the tabloid-loving ABC....

A father and son were arrested Wednesday on suspicion of starting a massive California wildfire that destroyed many homes and forced tens of thousands of people to flee Lake Tahoe communities earlier this year, authorities said. Mark Reichel, the attorney for both men, said they were arrested Wednesday afternoon and that reckless arson means starting a blaze by accident but “to such a degree that it was considered reckless.” Authorities allege they caused homes to burn and people to be seriously injured in the fire that began in August. The Caldor fire scorched more than 346 square miles (897 square...

Jussie Smollett, the C-list actor best known for his role as Terry Hall in The Mighty Ducks, is finally on trial in Chicago for allegedly staging a hate crime against himself in January 2019. He is charged with counts of felony disorderly conduct for lying to police about the phony attack, which was widely and credulously "condemned" by Democratic politicians, journalists, celebrities, and other liberals. Hardly any have bothered to amend their statements or even remove their initial reactions from social media platforms. The following is a (non-exhaustive) list of all the libs who immediately believed Smollett's absurd story about being...

It was Baldwin's first public appearance since Monday night, when he was seen on video lunging at a tabloid reporter with an umbrella in hand outside Allen's Upper East Side townhouse. New York Post's Jon Levine attempted to quiz the actor about his recent claim that he did not pull the trigger and fire the shot that killed cinematographer Halyna Hutchins during the filming of his low-budget Western, Rust, in October. Baldwin refused to engage, and his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, repeatedly asked the journalist to leave and 'please go away,' and trained her cellphone camera on him. When Levine would...

It turns out that going from America First to America Last has real world consequences. President Trump’s critics often complained his America First policies were damaging our alliances and rewarding our enemies. The exact opposite was true: like President Ronald Reagan before him, Trump delivered peace through strength. Biden has diluted American power, and as a result, our allies no longer trust us and our enemies no longer fear us. American weakness always invites the wolves, and the wolves have returned. Just in the last 11 months, America has ceded a tremendous amount of power, credibility and prestige. Biden’s shameful...
