The ConstitutionThe Founders view of the jury as being of paramount importance in defending liberty is easily seen when examining the words of the Constitution. There are only 14 words describing freedom of speech and of the press in the Constitution. But there are 186 words describing trial by jury in the Constitution. It is guaranteed in the main body in Article 3, Section 2, Paragraph 3, and in two amendments, the Sixth and the Seventh. No other right is mentioned so frequently, three times, or has as many words devoted to it. It is plain that the Founders viewed...

Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D-Mich) vetoed legislation that would require the removal of dead people from the voter rolls at least 45 days prior to each election day. State Sen. Michael MacDonald (R) said "if we want people to have faith in our elections we need to take steps to reduce opportunities for fraud. One of these steps is to remove the names of deceased persons from the voting rolls. How do we provide safe and secure elections in our state if the governor can't even agree that we should be ensuring dead people aren't on our voting rolls?" Gov. Gretchen...

A Minister in the Singapore government has suggested the creation of an internet kill switch that would prevent minors from reading questionable material online – perhaps using ratings of content created in real time by crowdsourced contributors. "The post-COVID world will bring new challenges globally, including to us in the security arena," said Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen at a Tuesday ceremony to award the city-state's 2021 Defense Technology Prize. "For operations, the SAF (Singapore Armed Force) has to expand its capabilities in the digital domain. Whether for administrative or operational purposes, I think that we will need...

DENVER (AP) — A federal judge issued a restraining order against a suburban Denver county’s policy allowing parents to opt their children out of a mask mandate at school, finding the rule violates the rights of students with disabilities who are vulnerable to COVID-19. U.S. District Judge John L. Kane on Tuesday called the Douglas County Board of Health order that allowed parents to opt their children out of mask-wearing a violation of the Americans with Disabilities Act, which guarantees equal access to education for all. Kane’s order came after the Douglas County School District filed a federal lawsuit challenging...

Attorney General Merrick Garland on Wednesday clashed with Republican senators over the Justice Department's efforts to crack down on violent threats against school boards, with one GOP member telling the former judge, "Thank god you're not on the Supreme Court." Sen. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) made the remark during a heated exchange in which the senator tried to tie the Justice Department's new school board policy to an incident in Loudoun County, Va., where a teenager was accused of sexually assaulting a fellow student in a school bathroom. "This testimony, your directive, your performance is shameful," Cotton said. "Thank god, you're...

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (AP) — The board of the Alaska Railroad has voted unanimously to rescind a requirement for all of its employees to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Initially, railroad employees were supposed to be vaccinated by Dec. 8 to comply with vaccine requirements ordered by President Joe Biden that, in part, required vaccination for employees of contractors doing business with the federal government. The railroad is a federal contractor, the Anchorage Daily News reported. An email sent to railroad employees last Friday said the railroad must meet the standard. But Tuesday’s board decision followed legal challenges that have been filed...

Women across the UK are boycotting nightclubs this week for a so-called "Girls Night In" to highlight the issue of drink spiking - and many say they know change is needed through personal experience. Earlier this month, Mia Davson, a second-year student at Loughborough University, attended her first sports social event of the new term with her cheerleading squad. The 20-year-old had decided not to drink a lot and was enjoying her night out when she suddenly felt unwell. She turned to her friend for help before collapsing on him. Mia is only able to piece together what happened next...

President Joe Biden argued Tuesday the United States is “on the right track” under his leadership, during a campaign speech for former Gov. Terry McAuliffe in Virginia. “We’re on the move but we’re on the right track, we’ve got more to do,” Biden boasted during his address, urging Virginians to support McAuliffe for governor. The president ignored Americans struggling with increased inflation, high gas prices, and supply chain shortages, and promoted the free things he wanted to give Americans. He argued Americans were enjoying increased household wealth, more manufacturing, and a high stock market. Take a look at the stock...

A Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) wasn’t having it and erupted on Merrick Garland for writing the threatening letter ‘citing news reports’ claiming parents were a danger to school board members. The news reports were referring to Scott Smith, the father a teenage girl who was raped by a boy wearing a skirt in a girl’s bathroom on campus at a...

Chicago Public Schools’ latest enrollment drop was spurred largely by students leaving the city for schools in the suburbs, downstate or entirely out of the state, plus children moving to city private schools, parents opting for homeschooling or kids falling off the district’s radar, new data released Wednesday shows. The number of students falling into one of those categories totaled almost 26,000 and left CPS hanging on by a thread to its status as the third-largest district in the nation. The school system suffered its 10th consecutive year of falling enrollment, now down to 330,000 from last year’s 341,000, according...

Workplace chat software like Slack is probably the single most effective tool for making companies go woke. Organizing workers was a difficult challenge in companies that did not have unions. But while companies closely monitored union organizing, they actively encouraged the use of workplace chat software that made it all too easy for leftists to network, identify opponents, get them fired, and use those incidents to radicalize the company. The second most effective tool is the identity politics affinity group. Affinity groups or ERGs have become a popular tool by HR departments to organize internal woke caucuses. Corporate affinity groups...

Let's cut straight to the chase, as this doesn't need to be a long post. Like many other Normals when Obamamania hit in 2008, I was cautiously optimistic that he would use the presidency to be the President he promised to be. And like many others, I quickly realized he was just another cheap politician who was greasing the skids to take the title of worst president (Off the top of my head, the economics of Hoover & FDR, a foreign policy that made Dubya look like Bismark, and regarding divisiveness, the big difference between Barry O & James Buchanan...

Following the alarming recent news that China successfully tested a nuclear-capable hypersonic missile in August, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki made some notable remarks in the daily press briefing on Monday, October 18th, “we have made clear our concern about the military capabilities that the PRC continues to pursue, and we've been consistent in our approach with China"…"We welcome stiff competition, but we do not want that competition to veer into conflict, and that is certainly what we convey privately as well." Living a good portion of my early life during the Cold War as the child of an...
