A crash and shooting are under investigation after police say a Philadelphia Water Department employee fired a shot at another vehicle following a crash in South Philadelphia Tuesday morning. Investigators say a Philadelphia Water Department vehicle and civilian vehicle were involved in a crash at 24th Street and Passyunk Avenue, shortly after 9:30 a.m. Both drivers exited their vehicles and were involved in a physical altercation. That’s when police say a passenger in the water department vehicle pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the civilian’s vehicle, striking the driver’s side mirror.

Hospitals in Texas have reported an increased number of full intensive care units (ICUs) as the delta variant of the coronavirus continues to ravage communities. According to data released Monday, 42 Texas hospitals reported that their ICU beds were filled to capacity between Oct. 8 and Oct. 14. The data is released by the federal government's Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) on a weekly basis and accounts for about 200 Texas hospitals that have more than four ICU patients or four staffed ICU beds. Other hospitals with smaller ICU departments also reported data to HHS.
