HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) - Democrats in Pennsylvania’s state Senate sued Friday evening in a state court to block a Republican-approved subpoena seeking voter information and to put a stop to what Republicans call a “forensic investigation” of last year’s presidential election. Democrats had said they would sue within days after the Republican-controlled Senate Intergovernmental Operations Committee voted Wednesday to issue a subpoena. The subpoena seeks detailed state election records, including communication with counties and the names of who voted in last year’s presidential election, their birth date, address, driver’s license number and the last four digits of their Social Security...

General Mark Milley, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, prevented Donald Trump from invoking the Insurrection Act against Black Lives Matter during their 2020 riots. Milley, according to Bob Woodward and Robert Costa’s new book, ‘Peril,’ drastically minimized the riots to Trump, suggesting that they were mostly centered upon the use of “spray paint.” Despite the violent protests spreading across the country like wildfire, Milley insisted that they had only impacted two cities and were peaceful, echoing CNN’s absurd description of the riots as “fiery, but most peaceful.” “They used spray paint, Mr. President, that’s not an insurrection. It has two bedrooms and one bathroom. There’s also a private garden and roof deck. The story of the unique building, called a “spite house,” dates back to when a man returned home from the Civil War and learned his brother had taken the property. So the man built the tiny house to block sunlight from his brother’s home. (Image Credit: CL Properties)

What does it take to hold federal police accountable for using excessive force? That question is once again being raised with cases being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. And it’s coming to the Justices in the form of a petition from Kevin Byrd, a Texas mechanic who was almost shot to death by a federal officer in a dispute over a purely personal matter. Kevin is not fighting alone. The Institute for Justice (IJ) represents him in his U.S. Supreme Court appeal.

The study, led by scientists at the University of Bath and including collaborators from Bristol, Cambridge and Germany, used fossils and analysed genetic differences between modern snakes to reconstruct snake evolution. The analyses helped to pinpoint the time that modern snakes evolved.Their results show that all living snakes trace back to just a handful of species that survived the asteroid impact 66 million years ago, the same extinction that wiped out the dinosaurs. The authors argue that the ability of snakes to shelter underground and go for long periods without food helped them survive the destructive effects of the impact. In...

In one of his first moves after surviving the recall, Gov. Gavin Newsom took his boldest steps yet to fix California’s housing shortage by signing a package of bills that will transform the state by getting rid of single-family zoning and making it easier to build the housing the state so desperately needs.Of the three housing bills Newsom signed Thursday, the most consequential is Senate Bill 9 because it will allow up to four units of housing on a single-family lot.Another, Senate Bill 10, creates a voluntary program that makes it easier for cities to upzone any urban or transit-adjacent...

Regarding immigration, there’s a lot going on now, including the ongoing Biden Border Surge and the Afghan Resettlement Plan. But don’t take your eyes off Congress. Something being cooked up there would make the current situation even worse – much worse. It’s a proposed amnesty for illegal aliens, to grant them legal status. It's attached to the gigantic 3.5 trillion dollar budget reconciliation bill. Sneaky, huh?

Topical teaching regarding how the vaccine is being used to cause a major division within the Church preventing the body of Christ from executing the primary mission that the Lord instructed each of us to do.This teaching will also discuss the primary purpose of the vaccine, why Christians must be aware but not divided, and the biblical posture that each of us should take regardless of the decision that has been made on an individual level.

Surpassed only by water, tea is the second most consumed beverage worldwide. When boiled tap water is used to brew tea, residual chlorine in the water can react with tea compounds to form disinfection byproducts (DBPs). Researchers measured 60 DBPs in three types of tea, unexpectedly finding lower levels in brewed tea than in tap water. However, they also detected many unknown DBPs with uncertain health effects. Although disinfection is important to ensure drinking water safety, a downside is DBP formation. Tea contains about 500 compounds, including polyphenols, amino acids, caffeine and others, that can react with chlorine to form...

just saw videos today of an abortionist admitting Regeneron is created by dissecting the liver out from a fetus with a live heart. This liver is then used to "humanize" a mouse for further ingredients. How can we possibly support such a demon drug? Certainly not for the right reasons, but Joe did the right thing.

Pfizer recalled its anti-smoking drug Chantix due to high levels of an ingredient that is tied to an increased risk of cancer. In a notice posted to the Food and Drug Administration’s (FDA) website on Thursday, Pfizer said it was recalling Chantix 0.5 mg and 1 mg tablets to the consumer level due to the presence of N-nitroso-varenicline. Long term ingestion of N-nitroso-varenicline can be associated with a “theoretical potential increased cancer risk in humans,” the notice said. However, there is no immediate risk to patients taking the drug. The company said it is undertaking the recall as a precautionary...

Quantum mechanicsResearch updateWave–particle duality quantified for the first time 01 Sep 2021 Complementarity A new twist on the double-slit experiment. (Courtesy: Shutterstock/Andrey VP) One of the most counterintuitive concepts in physics – the idea that quantum objects are complementary, behaving like waves in some situations and like particles in others – just got a new and more quantitative foundation. In a twist on the classic double-slit experiment, scientists at Korea’s Institute for Basic Sciences (IBS) used precisely controlled photon sources to measure a photon’s degree of wave-ness and particle-ness. Their results, published in Science Advances, show that the properties of...

Researchers at the University of California-Riverside are working on a way to grow edible plants that carry the same medication as an mRNA vaccine. Thanks to a $500,000 grant from the National Science Foundation, researchers are now looking accomplish three goals. First, the team will try to successfully deliver DNA containing mRNA vaccines into plant cells, where they can replicate. Next, the study authors want to show that plants can actually produce enough mRNA to replace a traditional injection. Finally, the team will need to determine the right dosage people will need to eat to properly replace vaccinations. Giraldo and...

A judge ruled Friday that prosecutors can't argue that a man who shot three people during a protest against police brutality in Wisconsin is affiliated with the Proud Boys or that he beat up a woman months before the shootings, bolstering his position as he prepares for a politically charged trial. Kyle Rittenhouse is set to stand trial beginning Nov. 1 on multiple counts, including homicide. The 18-year-old argues he opened fire in self-defense after the men attacked him. Prosecutors signaled that they plan to show infrared video from an FBI surveillance plane that proves Rittenhouse chased down the first...

[…]ConclusionADE has been observed in SARS, MERS and other human respiratory virus infections including RSV and measles, which suggests a real risk of ADE for SARS-CoV-2 vaccines and antibody-based interventions. However, clinical data has not yet fully established a role for ADE in human COVID-19 pathology. Steps to reduce the risks of ADE from immunotherapies include the induction or delivery of high doses of potent neutralizing antibodies, rather than lower concentrations of non-neutralizing antibodies that would be more likely to cause ADE.Going forwards, it will be crucial to evaluate animal and clinical datasets for signs of ADE, and to balance...

Twenty-fourth Week in Ordinary Time Luke 8:4–15 Friends, in today’s Gospel, Jesus explains the purpose of the parables: "Knowledge of the mysteries of the Kingdom of God has been granted to you; but to the rest, they are made known through parables so that they may look but not see, and hear but not understand." The use of the word "para" in the New Testament signals the failures to see at various levels. The great metaphor here is blindness, a blindness which is identified with disobedience. The parables of Christ are meant to highlight and point out this blindness, this...
