Summary
- Abrego ordered released on bail after wrongful deportation
- Trump administration brought him back to face criminal charges
- Defense lawyers fear deportation to third country despite release
- Noem says U.S. will continue to seek his deportation
Aug 22 (Reuters) - Kilmar Abrego, the migrant whose wrongful deportation in March to his native El Salvador made him a symbol of President Donald Trump's aggressive immigration policies, was released from criminal custody in Tennessee on Friday, his lawyer said.
Abrego, 30, was deported to his native
El Salvador in March despite a 2019 immigration court ruling that he not be sent there due to a risk of persecution by gangs. He was flown back to the U.S. in June to face criminal charges of transporting migrants living illegally in the country.
His case drew attention as the Trump administration for months took no apparent steps to bring him back despite an official's acknowledgement that his deportation was an "administrative error" and a federal judge's order to facilitate his return.
Abrego has pleaded not guilty. His lawyers have urged Nashville-based U.S. District Judge Waverly Crenshaw to dismiss the charges, arguing prosecutors improperly
targeted him in retaliation for filing a lawsuit challenging his wrongful deportation.
Crenshaw last month affirmed U.S. Magistrate Judge Barbara Holmes' order for Abrego to be
released from pre-trial custody, finding he was neither a danger to the community nor a risk of flight.

Exactly how was he wrongly deported, what a bunch of ass clowns. See what happens when one of their family is murdered, raped, robbed, or killed in a car crash because of some illegal driving

Exactly how was he wrongly deported
He was deported to the wrong country, his native El Salvador, because he convinced a judge that he feared retribution from a rival gang, which sort of contradicts the narrative that the MD father of the year isn’t really a gang member.
The concern that the dems and left are showing for this guy will, I hope be yet another albatross for them.

Liberals like to claim Trump is a king, but he couldn’t even keep this thug in jail after saying he’d never be free.

Exactly how was he wrongly deported, what a bunch of ass clowns. The immigration judge ordered he be removed but not to his home country of El Salvador.
I say fine, pick him up and send him to Afghanistan. I hear they have tasty ham sandwiches.

The headline lies. Garcia was not “wrongly” deported. He was deported to the wrong place. But the difference is merely factual and why would a modern news agency care about facts?

They spring back to the total BS “wrongly deported.”
Like backward school children.
A child trafficker and a thug who drove illegals and was stopped by the police on the road at night is a person to be deported.
