What does it take to hold federal police accountable for using excessive force? That question is once again being raised with cases being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. And it’s coming to the Justices in the form of a petition from Kevin Byrd, a Texas mechanic who was almost shot to death by a federal officer in a dispute over a purely personal matter.
Kevin is not fighting alone. The Institute for Justice (IJ) represents him in his U.S. Supreme Court appeal.

The linked site explains the situation well. But the site is more of a commercial site than a news site. So I thought it best to put this post in Chat instead of News.
Federal officers can MURDER people and get away with it. This is nothing new.
Just ask Lon Horiuchi.
From the article (scary stuff):
But when Lamb appealed to the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, his victory turned into a defeat because, according to that court, federal officers are entitled to absolute (not qualified) immunity, meaning they cannot be sued at all simply by virtue of being employed by the federal government.
Probably a three-judge panel.
But SCOTUS ruled people have a right to self defense even against LEOs. So does that automatically mean a shootout when the feds raid our places?
Anyone involved in the Federal Government sees civilians as their enemies.
When the law no longer provides protection, other games begin
” meaning they cannot be sued at all simply by virtue of being employed by the federal government”
Because by being employed by FedGov, they have been transformed into Beings of Light, with Divine Rights.
Yup, Yessirree, that’s what my ancestors were rebelling for back in 1770, the establishment of a new nobility...the federal bureaucrat.
Ruby Ridge.
Our ancestors would be shooting by now.
This story is crazy. It sounds like a federal officer can do virtually anything they please to the public but state and local law enforcement must walk on egg shells. Makes you wonder why Pelosi is expanding the capitol police to far-flung parts of the country.
Fools make threats.
An eye for an eye. Must mean that Citizens can threaten to shoot Fed Agents in self defense.
Let me guess, “Plummer v. State” (a made up citation) and “John Bad Elk” (which doesn’t come close to saying what the retards on the internet think that it does.
This is completely false. I am a Border Patrol Agent and I can not even tackle someone who runs from me without being investigated. They will not even charge people who assualt Border Patrol agents because “they were only trying to avoid arrest”. Some agencies may get away with using force, but if you are a Border Patrol Agent one better be doing everything by the book.
a man was just acquitted for shooting at police during a riot- claimed he was ‘shooting in self defense’- of course the man wasn’t a trump supporting conservative- i think he was muslim if i remember right?
In some ways this case is worse than Ruby Ridge. With Ruby Ridge the federal officer can claim that he was just doing his job.
But here the federal officer was off-duty. His actions had absolutely nothing to do with his job. Yet the appeals court ruled that he still has immunity from lawsuits. That’s both shocking and disgusting.
That all depends on how stupid they want be.
Perhaps I can clear up a bit of confusion here (please correct me if I’m wrong, 98).
A federal officer (or any officer) can be investigated and disciplined for misbehavior. And he can be arrested if that misbehavior is criminal.
But according to the article, that officer cannot be personally sued, even if his actions had nothing at all to do with his job.
I want each and every one of them to know that this is exactly the case. Your not getting my gun before my life and I know that it is the only thing keeping everyone else the least bit civilized when around me.
