  • Ida Hit Crushes Crude Output In Gulf Of Mexico, Ranked Worst In 16 Years

Hurricane Ida’s disruption to the U.S. offshore energy production in the Gulf of Mexico is the worst in 16 years. It has already stressed domestic and global supply chains, further testing the Federal Reserve’s “transitory” inflation narrative. Gulf Coast hurricanes usually cause minor disruptions in offshore oil and gas production, but this time around, output from the region has been significantly reduced due to Ida’s 150 mph winds that damaged platforms and onshore support facilities. What this will mean is a long recovery for offshore energy production to return. Reuters notes 79% of the region’s offshore oil production remains offline....

Harry Reid renews call for filibuster to be abolished: 'We need to get the Senate working again' Former Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called for the filibuster to be abolished Wednesday in light of the new restrictive Texas abortion bill, arguing that the country “need[s] to get the Senate working again.” “The sanctity of the Senate is not the filibuster. The sanctity of the Senate — in government as a whole — is the power it holds to better the lives of and protect the rights of the American people,” Reid wrote in a column published by the Las...

    — Patients started adjuvant therapy faster, had shorter hospital stays compared to open resections Patients with locally advanced colon cancer who underwent minimally invasive surgery (MIS) were able to start adjuvant therapy more quickly than those undergoing open resections, researchers found. In an analysis involving over 34,000 stage III colon cancer patients, those who underwent MIS experienced a reduction in the median time to return to intended oncological treatment (RIOT) versus open surgery (6 vs 7 weeks, respectively, P<0.001), median length of hospital stay (5 vs 6 days, P<0.001), and 30-day readmission rates (4.2% vs 4.7%, P=0.039), reported David T....

Shame–where have you gone? We often hear people say, “Doesn’t (some lost soul who’s making a fool of themselves) have any shame?” No, they don’t. But I rarely hear anyone say, “Don’t I–or we–have any shame?” I mean, think about this: We are supposedly intelligent beings, and we certainly consider ourselves pretty smart, for the most part. And yet we are being ruled by utter fools! So who is the bigger fool? I can see the folly of the typical intellectual, left-wing fool. They have rejected a connection to God–the Source of wisdom. So all they have left is their...

“Does a ‘complex network of cells, and proteins that defends the body against infection’ sound scientific to you? Didn’t think so,” said CDC spokesman Jonathan Growsky. “Science is doing what we say to do without question, not magically getting healthy while your body functions as designed. That's just superstitious nonsense” Growsky continued, “How can we expect the human body to keep track of every microbe it’s ever killed, and know how to kill it again quickly if it ever returns? It is as nonsensical as it sounds.” The CDC no longer recommends worrying about your physical fitness level, eating a...
  • 'My university sacrificed ideas for Ideology': Portland State professor pens scathing resignation letter claiming school has become a 'social justice factory whose only inputs are race, gender, and victimhood'

A Portland State University professor has resigned in a scathing public letter in which he slammed the university for not allowing any type of thought that didn't suit its liberal agenda, calling it a 'social justice factory' that drives 'intolerance of divergent beliefs'. Peter Boghossian was a full-time assistant professor of philosophy at Portland State University until his resignation letter was published on Wednesday. He shared the letter with Bari Weiss, a former New York Times columnist who quit her role at the paper after claiming to encounter the same refusal to consider non-liberal ideas that Boghossian describes at PSU.

Biden delivered remarks Wednesday from the White House in recognition of labor unions, saying “ when unions win, workers across the board win.” The president weaved the discussion on the work unions have historically done with his administration’s work so far and overall economic plan. He said in the economy they are building, “everybody is mad at me” because employers are having to compete for workers, and raising wages, instead of workers competing for a scarce number of jobs. “My measure of economic success is how families like mine growing up, working families busting their neck, how they are doing,”...

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is being criticized for her use of the term “menstruating persons” as she lashed out at Texas Gov. Greg Abbott over his new six-week abortion ban. The far-left New York congresswoman called Abbott “deeply ignorant” on Tuesday over the Lone Star State’s new law that prohibits almost all abortions after the six-week mark — including pregnancies that are the result of rape or incest. “I don’t know if he is familiar with a menstruating person’s body. In fact, I do know that he’s not familiar with a female or menstruating person’s body because if he did, he...

Dear Governor Inslee, Attorney General Ferguson, and Secretaries: As you know, Liberty Counsel is a national non-profit litigation, education and public policy organization with an emphasis on First Amendment liberties, and a particular focus on religious freedom and the sanctity of human life. Liberty Counsel has engaged in extensive litigation in the last year regarding civil rights violations ostensibly justified by “COVID-19,” and has had great success holding both government entities and private actors accountable. SARATOGA SPRINGS — A group of Black Lives Matter activists were detained by police outside of City Hall on Tuesday night as they were protesting ahead of a City Council meeting. Beatty said several officers, including Saratoga County sheriff's deputies, came outside and grabbed some of the others who were gathering, bringing them into the police station at the ground floor of City Hall. Andrew Beatty, a Saratoga Springs resident who often attends BLM events, said they were gathered outside of the Lake Avenue entrance after they heard that activist Lexis Figuereo had allegedly been arrested at a different location...
  • Scientists Created a New Kind of Metal Where Electrons Flow Like a Fluid

In metals, electrons are normally expected to be diffusive in their movement, operating as individual particles – in other words, they don't gain momentum as a group. In a new study, scientists have now discovered a type of metal where electrons actually do flow in a fluid-like way – like water in a pipe – by interacting with quasiparticles called phonons, which emerge from vibrations in a crystal structure. This causes the electrons to shift from diffusive (particle-like) to hydrodynamic (fluid-like) behavior in their movement. The metal superconductor that causes this behavior is a synthesis of niobium and germanium called...

People with disabilities can be particularly vulnerable to the impacts of climate change — so why shouldn't they be at the forefront of climate activism? When Cecile Lecomte joined the anti-nuclear movement nearly two decades ago, she was a national climbing champion and quickly began to apply her sporting skills to environmental activism with treetop protests. But for the last three years, scaling trees has been a very different endeavor. Lecomte lives with rheumatoid arthritis, a chronic inflammation of the joints. It's a painful, progressive disease with acute flare-ups. "This, of course, makes me see the world a little differently,"...

Former California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger believes the atmosphere around this year’s gubernatorial recall election is “exactly the same” as it was in 2003 — when the acclaimed action movie star became the first person in state history to win a gubernatorial race in a recall election. Next week, Gov. Gavin Newsom faces a recall election that was brought on by heavy criticism of his coronavirus pandemic measures, including stay-at-home orders and mask mandates. If more than half of voters support his recall, the Democrat will be removed from office and replaced by the top-polling candidate among his potential replacements. The...

The Biden administration tightened its masking guidance after a prominent teachers union threatened White House officials with publicly releasing harsh criticism, internal emails show. The National Education Association sent a draft statement to White House officials that included harsh criticism of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's masking guidance, the emails show. But the teachers union ultimately published a version with a much softer tone, and the CDC clarified its guidance to indicate that everyone should be masked in schools, regardless of vaccination status. The new emails show further coordination between the White House and teachers unions just months...

New York (AFP) - Solar power could account for nearly half of the United States' electricity supply by the middle of the century, according to a government study released Wednesday. The report, released by the Department of Energy, said solar could account for much as 40 percent of the power supply by 2035 and 45 percent by 2050, up from its current level of just three percent. However reaching this level would require the United States to quadruple its annual solar capacity additions, the department said in a statement. This future also depends on extensive public investments, as well as...
