Resignation and Pope Emeritus, another mess is brewingA new Motu Proprio to regulate the "emeritus papacy", a canonical problem effectively left open by Benedict XVI, is expected soon. What according to his predecessor was to remain an exception, for Francis it would become an institution along with all the problems that this entails because by its very nature only one person can assume the title of “pope.” The proposed hypothesis of retirement at 85 would be a blow to the heart of the Petrine office. After thunder comes rain. For now, we are still only hearing thunder, but the roaring downpour...

It was up to CENTCOM’s Gen. Kenneth McKenzie to address the press today and call an official end to the U.S. military presence in Afghanistan. The commander-in-chief did issue a statement Monday praising the “unparalleled results” of the airlift of Afghan refugees and American citizens. We always knew the Biden administration would frame this bug-out as a great victory, even though President Biden assured us we wouldn’t be seeing images like those of the fall of Saigon. The president will address the nation Tuesday afternoon.

Below are several Free Republic links from barely 48 hours ago reporting the US Embassy and State department told Americans in Afghanistan to stay away from the airport or leave the area or, as reported by Lara Logan, US citizens were turned away from the airport. WHY?? Did the state department/embassy not know the last plane out would be leaving a day early?? Will the RINO's demand answers to this and other reports, such as busloads of American women not being allowed into the airport today?? WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON??!!!

I'm greatly saddened to hear of the passing of L. Neil Smith, the estimable science fiction author and lifelong lover of liberty. Neil was probably one of the most ardent and tireless advocates of the individual right to keep and bear arms in my lifetime. A literal brother-in-arms to all of us who believe in the supremacy of the individual, rather than the State. A man who greatly and positively influenced a generation or more of libertarians. I extend my condolences to his wife, Cathy, who is Neil's equal in her love and pursuit of individual freedom, and as strong-willed...

SPARTA, Wis. — Fort McCoy's Facebook page lit up in the hours after officials there announced that thousands of Afghan refugees would be coming to the Army base. In an instant, the website turned into an impromptu public forum as news spread that the largest airlift in U.S. history would affect a pair of blue-collar communities in western Wisconsin. Some people wanted to know how they could donate blankets, warm clothes or canned goods to desperate strangers. Others worried that their community would face problems rooted in a chaotic withdrawal that, until a few days ago, was 7,000 miles away....

Why does government seem to control so much of our lives now? What significant changes happened in the past 15 years that created a social shift and allowed government to influence almost every facet of our activity? Why has the previously ordinary become so complex? Why is it more difficult to be comfortably invisible and just live out the creed of pursuing ‘life, liberty and happiness’? What is behind all this? We were not sleeping, we were wide awake. Perhaps distracted, yes; but we were wide awake when something shifted. A Fourth Branch of Government was quietly created, and technology...

Alexandria police responded to an animal complaint regarding pigs running loose at a home on July 29. They had responded to around 15 animal complaints since June 3. Neighbors said animals have repeatedly escaped their enclosures at the home and have made “loud and continuing noises.” Animals housed at the home included pigs, dogs, chickens, guinea pigs and lizards. Police say they observed multiple animal pens on the property that did not appear sturdy enough to house animals. They also saw two pigs running through the yard on July 29. They say Clemmer did not assist officers in trying to...

Former President George W. Bush and first lady Laura Bush will appear in Shanksville, Pa., on Sept. 11 to commemorate the passengers of United Airlines Flight 93 who lost their lives 20 years ago. Bush will deliver the keynote address at the Flight 93 National Memorial, the Bush Center said in a statement. Passengers of United Flight 93 tried to regain control of the plane from hijackers before crashing into a field in Shanksville. The hijacking was part of an orchestrated attack on the U.S. that also targeted the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in...

I propose an idea of a covid invitational debate, which would be hosted by conservative leaders of alternative social media. This would have to be hosted by conservatives for three purposes. 1.Because debate would never be allowed by big tech liberals. 2.Because alternative voices are silenced. 3.In order to educate the public there needs to be a true platform of ideas and facts. It could be jointly live streamed, on social media platforms. The debate could be held at a location such as with C-PAC. The topics could be vaccines, alternative treatments, lockdowns, business and industry concerns, legislation and budgeting....

Department of Environmental Conservation Commissioner Basil Seggos said that while cougars “may look cute and cuddly when young, these animals can grow up to be unpredictable and dangerous.” New York has seen other notable cases involving dangerous animals in private residences, including Ming, a 400-pound tiger that was removed from a Harlem apartment in 2003. Ming’s owner, Antoine Yates, was arrested and sentenced to five months in prison for reckless endangerment. Ming died in 2019 at the Noah’s Lost Ark Exotic Animal Rescue Center in Ohio. Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said the cougar’s case “is currently under investigation and no...

Kamala Harris thinks that U.S. citizens in rural America don’t own copiers or scanners, can’t drive to or are not near an office supply store, and can’t take a cell phone photo of their government-issued ID. Isn’t it marvelous to have a Vice President who is so in touch with the people? With Joe Biden crashing and burning like the Hindenburg, his own party might decide not to wait for his corporeal demise (his mind left the planet quite some time ago) and remove him from office sooner rather than later. In any event, sometime before 2025, Harris could take...

My headline about sums it up. This is what is so infuriating about the Kabul arrangement, and our so-called political and military leaders MUST be held to account. WHERE ARE THE RESIGNATIONS?We must not stop calling-out those who KNOWINGLY placed our Marines into a Kill Box, the result of which was NOT a surprise. Why did Biden agree to have 9/11 TERRORISTS manning the checkpoints for our Marines on that street in Kabul? We shall honor these Marines by continuing to seek accountability for their deaths. NEVER STOP!Team TaliBiden GIFTING THOSE WHO ATTACKED US ON 9/11 with thousands of weapons...

Rep. Madison Cawthorn (R-N.C.) is describing those in law enforcement custody for allegedly storming the Capitol on Jan. 6 in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying President Biden's election victory as "political hostages" while repeating false claims that the 2020 election was "stolen." Cawthorn made the remarks over the weekend during an event with supporters that was streamed on Facebook by the Macon County Republican Party. During the event, which included a question-and-answer session with constituents, Cawthorn cast doubt on Biden's legitimate electoral victory over former President Trump and warned of violence "if our election systems continue to be...

It’s payback time. And like the famous “Devil’s Brigade” of Second World War fame, they know full well they may not survive the coming battles. According to British media reports, 40 of the bravest men in the world — elite Special Air Service elite troop — have asked to stay in the wartorn country to avenge the deaths of their fallen comrades. The 13 US Marines killed in a suicide bomb at Kabul airport in Afghanistan. One source told the Sunday Mirror: “The Marines who died were from the 24th Marine Expeditionary Force. “That unit has given assistance to the...

ALBANY, New York (LifeSiteNews) — Healthcare workers in the state of New York ordered to get the COVID-19 jab will not have the option of a religious exemption, thanks to emergency authorization passed late last week. In Thursday’s decision, a New York State Department of Health board unanimously approved a COVID-19 mandate for all New York healthcare personnel. In passing the measure the board also scrubbed the option for a religious exemption, effectively forcing the more than 450,000 healthcare workers in the state to get the jab whether they have religious objections to the abortion-tainted injection or not.
