Fasting before and during exposure to Salmonella enterica bacteria protects mice from developing a full-blown infection, in part due to changes in the animals' gut microbiomes, according to new research. When people or animals develop an infection, they often lose their appetite. However it remains controversial whether fasting protects a host from infection, or increases their susceptibility. In the new study, mice were fasted for 48 hours before and during oral infection with the bacteria Salmonella enterica serovar Typhimurium, a common cause of foodborne illness in people. Fasting decreased the signs of bacterial infection compared to fed mice, including nearly...

The number of COVID-19 cases per day in the US has surged by more than 40% from the previous week amid the spread of the highly contagious Delta variant, the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention head said Thursday. CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky said the seven-day average for new cases daily was 89,463 on Thursday, up 43% from the week before. “Across the board, we are seeing increases in cases and hospitalizations in all age groups,” Walensky said at the White House’s COVID-19 briefing. Walensky said that new hospitalizations had increased by about 41% from the previous week, with...

A Spanish company has devised a system to extract drinking water from thin air to supply arid regions where people are in desperate need. "The goal is to help people," said Enrique Veiga, the 82-year-old engineer who invented the machine during a harsh drought in southern Spain in the 1990s. "The goal is to get to places like refugee camps that don't have drinking water." The devices made by his company, Aquaer, are already delivering clean, safe water to communities in Namibia and a Lebanese refugee camp.

President Joe Biden reacted to the news of the death of AFL-CIO Union President Richard Trumka on Thursday at the White House, calling him a “very close friend.” “He was more than head of the AFL-CFO, he was a good, close, personal, friend,” Biden said at an event at the White House. The president said that Trumka died during a camping trip with his grandsons, reportedly of a heart attack. “At least he was with people who adored him,” Biden said shortly. Trumka was 72. “We’re sorry for your loss, Mr. President,” one White Hosue reporter replied after Biden finished...

WASHINGTON, D.C.—President Biden has called on Governor Andrew Cuomo to resign. According to sources in the White House, Biden was extremely upset with the way Cuomo reportedly treated women, as he's "taking up all the broads" in the area and "not leaving any women for the rest of us." "Listen, man, you can't just go around harassing women without checking with me first," Biden said sternly. "I mean, what if I called dibs on that hot blonde or the chick with the nice fruity-smelling shampoo? It's like, slow down, buster! The rest of us need some women to harass too."...

The woman who would replace Andrew Cuomo in the event that he is impeached or stands down, which is becoming increasingly likely, is Lieutenant Kathy Hochul, the granddaughter of Irish immigrants who was handpicked by the embattled governor and has now turned against him. Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, 62, would become the first female governor in New York's history if she replaces Cuomo. Throughout the pandemic, she has taken a quiet backseat to her boss's very public profile after being cherry-picked by him in 2014. She won another political role in 2011 by replacing Rep. Chris Lee, her married male...

The current expansion in prevalence of infectious Sars-CoV-2 variants is highly problematic because it erodes natural Ab-based, variant-nonspecific immunity in the non-vaccinated part of the population. The high infectivity rate that results from this expansion not only further enhances the expansion of these variants but may also drive natural selection of viral variants that are featured by an even higher level of infectiousness. Erosion, therefore, of natural Ab-based, variant-nonspecific immunity promotes breeding and transmission of more infectious viral variants in the non-vaccinated part of the population. On the other hand, mass vaccination promotes natural selection of increasingly vaccine immunity (VI)-escaping...

The damage COVID-19 did worldwide is immeasurable. Earlier this summer, the Chinese Communist Party celebrated its centenary. World leaders congratulated Beijing. The reality is that the world should treat the Chinese communist party with as much disdain as they would Nazi Germany. Every Chinese diplomat should be treated as a pariah. No university should accept Chinese money any more than they would Nazi funds. After all, few if any political movements in the modern era have killed more. Deaths attributed to Mao Zedong and his successors outstrip Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. The millions who died under COVID-19 should be...

A Baylor College of Medicine professor of pediatrics and molecular virology is urging lawmakers to make criticizing Dr. Anthony Fauci a federal ‘hate crime’, which would then be punishable with extended jail time. Welcome to Orwell’s 1984. In a July 28 paper in PLOS Biology titled “Mounting antiscience aggression in the United States,” Professor Peter Hotez writes that a “band of ultraconservative members of the US Congress and other public officials with far-right leanings are waging organized and seemingly well-coordinated attacks against prominent US biological scientists.” ... To combat what he calls “antiscience aggression,” Hotez suggests a number of ideas,...

Chief White House medical adviser Anthony Fauci on Wednesday said the U.S. could see up to 200,000 daily COVID-19 cases in the fall. "Remember, just a couple of months ago, we were having about 10,000 cases a day," Fauci told McClatchy in an interview. "I think you're likely going to wind up somewhere between 100,000 and 200,000 cases."

President Joe Biden will sign an executive order on Thursday encouraging 50 percent of all auto sales by 2030 to be electric vehicles, according to Biden administration officials. The executive order will rely on commitments made by two of the nation's largest auto manufacturers, General Motors and Ford, as well as Chrysler parent company Stellantis N.V., according to the Wall Street Journal. Executives at the companies have tied the 50 percent voluntary target to the fate of the Senate's more than $1 trillion infrastructure bill, which will provide federal funding for manufacturing and research as well as a network of...

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (AP) — Florida hospitals slammed with COVID-19 patients are suspending elective surgeries and putting beds in conference rooms, an auditorium and a cafeteria. In Georgia, medical centers are turning people away for lack of space. And a Louisiana hospital had to postpone an organ transplant. “We are seeing a surge like we’ve not seen before in terms of the patients coming,” Dr. Marc Napp, chief medical officer for Memorial Healthcare System in Hollywood, Florida, said Wednesday. “It’s the sheer number coming in at the same time. There are only so many beds, so many doctors, only so...

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), who is recovering from a recent coronavirus infection, said he urged former President Trump to be more vocal about the COVID-19 vaccine. “I’ve urged him to be aggressive and say, ‘Take the vaccine,’” Graham said in an interview with The Associated Press, which reported he urged Trump to "speak up." Graham told the AP he spoke to Trump on Thursday, adding the former president has checked in with him every day since Graham's infection was discovered earlier this week.

From "profecy update" Highly Vaccinated Iceland And Gibraltar Destroy Covid Vaccine Passport With Rising Cases Highly Vaccinated Iceland & Gibraltar DESTROY COVID-19 Vaccine Passport Narrative, – Vaccinated People Are The Biggest Spreaders It’s been drilled in our heads that this a “Pandemic of the Unvaccinated.” The mainstream media and health overlords have painted a picture that castsunvaccinated individuals as lepers of society. Dirty people responsible for all of the world’s problems. Super spreaders taking up valuable space in the hospital. But that narrative is falling apart thanks to the world’s most vaccinated countries. Let’s take Gibraltar first. Located on the...
