Rep. Liz Cheney (R-WY) on Tuesday lectured fellow Republican lawmakers at the opening of the House Select Committee to Investigate the January 6th Attack on the Capitol, urging them to remember “our children are watching.” “I pray that we all remember our children are watching. As we carry out this solemn and sacred duty entrusted to us, our children will know who stood for truth and they will inherit the nation we hand to them: a republic, if we can keep it,” Cheney said.

During a recent endocrinology course at a top medical school in the University of California system, a professor stopped mid-lecture to apologize for something he’d said at the beginning of class. “I don’t want you to think that I am in any way trying to imply anything, and if you can summon some generosity to forgive me, I would really appreciate it,” the physician says in a recording provided by a student in the class (whom I’ll call Lauren). “Again, I’m very sorry for that. It was certainly not my intention to offend anyone. The worst thing that I can...

A majority of Americans have taken at least one of the Covid-19 injections that, as so-called “vaccines,” are supposed to protect the population from the disease. Yet we’re seeing spikes in cases again, particularly the Delta Variant, and the CDC has reinstated their face mask guidelines. According to The Post Millennial: The CDC is expected to announce a reversal in their masking recommendations on Tuesday, instructing even vaccinated Americans to once again wear masks indoors, as the Delta variant continues to make its way through parts of the US. The agency recommended just two months ago that those who had...

In May 2021, 56 percent of Russians polled by the independent Levada Center agreed that Stalin was a “great leader” — double the figure in 2016, when the Stalinization of mass consciousness had already been a clear trend for several years. To people outside of Russia, it might seem deeply shocking and incomprehensible that Stalin’s popularity is growing at such a pace. Yet it is an entirely natural consequence of the policy advanced and sponsored by the Russian state of historical amnesia. Attitudes to Stalin in Russia are intrinsically tied to the Soviet Union’s victory in World War II, over...

Democrat tricks, dishonesty, lies, and bad conduct should be met with the authority and ruthlessness of the rule book. That rule book being the Texas Constitution. After the legislative session, Governor Abbott called a special session to wrap-up a laundry list of legislation that our representatives were unable to complete. At some point, a cadre of Democrats abandoned their voters and skipped town, bringing the session to a halt. From my perspective, the most important task the legislature needs to accomplish is redistricting as the future stability of Texas is dependent on it. Though the Democrats derailed the legislature, the...

Improvements to school ventilation systems and doubling down on disinfection and social distancing measures are not going to be enough. As schools across Pennsylvania and the country gear up for the return of students, the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Tuesday is expected to issue recommendations that everyone in K-12 schools wear a mask, regardless of their vaccination status. Media reports out of the regular updates from the public health government agency were signaling changes to the schools masking guidelines. “New CDC recommendations will say everyone in K-12 schools should wear a mask, regardless of their vaccination...

President Joe Biden’s Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stepped on House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (D-CA) January 6 Commission launch Tuesday with a scheduled mask recommendation announcement. Twitter was buzzing Tuesday morning with clips from Democrat and Republican messaging in an attempt to frame the commission debate on the morning of the first committee hearing. “It’s clear at this point that Nancy Pelosi has cherry-picked the members to serve on this committee. She has pre-written a narrative. Only members who will stick to her talking points are allowed to serve on this committee,” Rep. Jim Banks (R-ID) stated during...

With the coronavirus making a massive reappearance in the country, Israel finds itself deep within the realm of uncertainty, doubt and conflicting information. From the start of the epidemic, there has been no such confusion among the experts themselves, who are torn between the latest data dump from the Health Ministry, data in the field, data from the nation's hospitals, and divergent information coming in from the UK. On Tuesday, Ynet reported that the team for handling pandemics was given disturbing data on the possibility of a significant reduction in the vaccines' ability to protect from infection and serious illness,...

German Health Minister Jens Spahn is planning compulsory coronavirus tests for travelers entering the country, regardless of where they travel from, Funke Media Group reported on Tuesday. The ministry is aiming for “an expansion of test requirements upon entry as quickly as possible,” according to a document seen by the media group. The goal is to curb the recent rapid rise in infections, especially with the highly contagious delta variant. Currently, air passengers and people entering from high-risk areas are obliged to provide a negative test or proof that they have been fully vaccinated or have recovered from an infection....

Trusting Science Is Not the Same as Critical Thinking Experiments with participants given fake science Shows that those who “trust science” can be gullible July 27, 2021 | David F. Coppedge Like most psychologists in academia, those at the University of Pennsylvania tend to promote the consensus on matters like vaccination and mask-wearing. But they also realize that trusting science is not enough. Without critical thinking, people who claim to “trust science” can be gullible. And if they repeat stories that are false, their too-trusting nature can spread pseudoscience. Three psychologists at UPenn decided to test this by feeding fake...

The newly renamed Cleveland Guardians aren’t the only Guardians in town. When the Cleveland Indians announced their name change last week, the move was met with a mixed reaction among baseball fans. It also raised a red flag with a local roller derby team named the… Cleveland Guardians. That could spell trouble for the baseball club, as their neighbors on skates are the owners of the clevelandguardians.com domain, as well as social media monikers it might be interested in — @ClevelandGuardians on Instagram and Facebook.

Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) is stalling the confirmation hearing of President Biden’s pick to run U.S. Customs and Border Protection over questions about the federal government’s role in quelling protests in his home state.[snip]But Wyden says his committee will not hold the confirmation hearing until the Departments of Homeland Security and Justice answer questions about the federal agents deployed by the Trump administration to Portland, a liberal stronghold in the Pacific Northwest.

“I do eat quite a bit of sugar right before I shoot,” she says. Tucker is a 20-year-old American silver medalist here who has become one of the fastest rising stars in rifle shooting while breaking one of the sport’s biggest taboos. She hypes herself up on candy exactly when she’s not supposed to. It isn’t especially difficult to understand why shooters abstain from caffeine and sugar when they compete. They’re vices that can make people jittery. That’s a potential disaster for people who need to handle a gun with pinpoint precision. ...“A typical rifle shooter would look at you...

Police said they “stopped several cars to find young people who admit to playing this game.” “This (is) a dangerous and potentially deadly game to play,” Roxboro police said in the post. “There is nothing funny about this game. Over the course of the pandemic, Washington allotted a lot of money to help tenants who couldn’t keep up with the rent: $46.6 billion. That’s almost twice as much as, and on top of, what the government usually spends each year helping low-income renters through the Housing Choice Voucher Program, better known as Section 8. The number was at least in the right ballpark to cover the payments missed by the country’s roughly 43 million renter households, many of whom lost jobs when the economy contracted last year. But a safety net only works if you can get it set...

Texas reported 4,320 COVID-19-related hospitalizations on Saturday, a high not seen since mid-March, when the state’s numbers began trending downward. The total marks an increase of over 1,000 hospitalizations from the prior week, when the state reported just shy of 3,000. Last week, the state’s health commissioner noted a 150 percent increase in COVID-19 hospitalizations between June 27 and July 20. Dr. John Hellerstedt, the commissioner of the department of state health services, noted that the delta variant makes up most new cases in Texas. He urged residents who haven’t yet received a COVID-19 vaccine to seek out the shot.
