Israel has once again reminded us that we should thank our lucky stars that the Jewish state is on our side. In the “What Have You Done For Us Lately” Department, Israel has just completed tests of its new high-power laser system that, installed on a civilian aircraft, can shoot down drones. It promises to be what is called a game-changer. An investigative report on a 2018 mass shooting during a Ventura County bar’s “Country College Night” found the likely motive of the military veteran who carried out the attack was disdain for civilians and especially college students, a newspaper said. The investigators’ report said Long had attended California State University, Northridge, where a group of students learned of his military service and made disrespectful comments to him. Friends and associates of Long told detectives that some students expressed the opinion that people who join the military deserved to be shot and killed. The report stated that a friend of Long...

Potatoes tend to be a dieting no-no for people laying off of starchy foods and carbohydrates. In that same light, French fries often fall into the “junk food” category as eaters cover them in ketchup and salt. Now, a new study finds this popular vegetable may be getting a bum rap. Researchers from Purdue University say eating more potatoes can actually help keep blood pressure under control better than taking certain supplements.

New claims for unemployment benefits fell sharply last week, the Department of Labor said Thursday. Initial jobless claims declined to 364,000 for the week ended June 26, a decline of 51,000 from the previous week. Economists polled by Econoday had estimated 395,000 new claims. This is the lowest level of claims since March 14, 2020, just before pandemic lockdowns forced millions of Americans out of work. The 4-week moving average of claims, which smoothes out week-to-week volatility, was 392,750, a decrease of 6,000 from the previous week’s revised average. This is the lowest level for this average since March 14,...

Human fecal matter uncovered from a lake in Guatemala reveals the Maya population living in the ancient city of Itzan declined during four different periods over the course of 3,300 years - and climate change was to blame. A team of scientists led by McGill University found the fecal matter in sediments in Laguna Itzan, which confirmed droughts plagued the area from 90 to 280 AD, 730 to 900 AD and 1350 to 950 BC, all of which saw the Maya population drop. The team also determined there was a very wet period from 400 to 210 BC, 'something which...

The Democratic congresswoman says she has always been somebody who 'understands how words can be harmful and hurtful to people.' We believe her.The Jews can never seem to live up to Rep. Ilhan Omar’s (D., Minn.) exacting standards. The Minnesota congresswoman’s latest broadside came Tuesday afternoon, when she told CNN’s Jake Tapper that her Jewish Democratic colleagues "haven’t been partners in justice" and have yet to apologize for their allegedly Islamophobic comments.Omar’s statement came after Tapper asked whether she regrets her comments last month comparing the United States and Israel with terrorist organizations like Hamas and the Taliban. Her answer was...

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) has picked amnesty advocate Rep. John Katko (R-NY) to lead a team of GOP legislators that will “focus on solutions to secure our borders.” “John Katko is the typical corporate Republican,” said one person active in the immigration debate. He added: He speaks a great game on illegal immigration, and is sorrowfully bad on legal immigration to the United States. He has never found a guest worker program he does not support, he’s never found a legal immigration program he does not think should be expanded, and I don’t think that he considers immigration...

MORE ON: POLLS To celebrate or not: Americans weigh risks for July 4 Inflation concerns soar with 85% ‘somewhat concerned’ about rising costs: poll DeSantis edges out Trump in 2024 straw poll, Tucker Carlson rules out bid NYC mayoral campaigns have vastly different estimates of voter turnout A new poll shows that 69 percent of voters believe America is the greatest country to live in — but that sentiment has fallen 15 percentage points in the past decade. In 2011, 84 percent of respondents said the US was the greatest, and 83 percent echoed that sentiment in 2015, a Fox...

What do Covid lockdowns, energy re-dependence in “pursuit” of the chimera of “green” energy, BLM/Antifa/OFA "mostly peaceful" protests, and decriminalization of low-level crimes have in common with open borders, reversing Trump’s Middle East peace advances, and 70 years of wars we refuse to win all have in common? Chaos. Why? Because when chaos serves the State, the State will encourage chaos. What do those who work in government want? More government. What’s the most government? A police state. What do you get when you have day after week after month after year of riots, murders, lockdowns and lawlessness? Voters demanding...

This weekend, the Tolkien Society is hosting a virtual Summer Seminar, a short academic conference on a theme pertaining to scholarship about J.R.R. Tolkien, the British scholar and author of The Lord of the Rings. This year, most of the seminar has taken a clear turn for the “woke” — complete with multiple papers on LGBT themes and “anti-racism,” a movement inspired by Marxist critical race theory. The Tolkien Society invited academics and others to submit papers to present at the seminar, specifically encouraging the “theme of diversity” and representation. “While interest in the topic of diversity has steadily grown...

The 7,000-word piece is an earlobe-licking valentine...The really interesting thing is to compare this cover story of Dr Jill with the cover story that Vogue ran of the last FLOTUS, Melania Trump.Ha, ha, ha. Just kidding. There was no cover story of Melania in Vogue or, as far as I know, any other major women’s magazine, during her time as first lady. Melania, a former model, is elegant and, to continue to speak plainly, gorgeous. She does not have an advanced degree in education from the University of Delaware, it’s true. She has not written a dissertation on ‘Student Retention...
