Scientists are reporting what they say is the longest sediment avalanche yet measured in action. It occurred underwater off West Africa, in a deep canyon leading away from the mouth of the Congo River. Something in excess of a cubic kilometre of sand and mud descended into the deep. This colossal flow kept moving for two whole days and ran out for more than 1,100km across the floor of the Atlantic Ocean. The event would have gone unrecorded were it not for the fact that the slide broke two submarine telecommunications cables, slowing the internet and other data traffic between...

[Catholic Caucus] WATCH: Paul VI, Maritain, Alinsky, and the New MassIn this talk, Catholic attorney and author Christopher Ferrara unveils the connections between Pope Paul VI, Jacques Maritain, Saul Alinsky, and the agenda behind the Novus Ordo Missae. Mr. Ferrara gave this presentation at our 2019 Conference, “The New Mass: Fifty Years of Problems”, held in the Chicago area. This lecture is particularly significant in light of recent news about the “imminent reform” of Summorum Pontificum by Pope Francis (see here, here, and here) — that is, an attempt to make access to the Traditional Latin Mass more restricted and difficult....

Israel's parliament the Knesset on Sunday approved a new coalition government, ousting longtime Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and making Naftali Bennett the new head of government. Netanyahu had held the role for 12 years, making him the longest-serving prime minister in Israel's history. The Israeli politician, mired in controversy and charged with corruption, had already failed to form a sustainable government after four elections within just two years. "This is a holiday for the press but a difficult day for millions of citizens of Israel," Netanyahu, who leads the right-wing Likud party, told reporters, according to The Jerusalem Post. "I...

A conversation on Twitter this week resurfaced a Wall Street Journal report from April about big investors getting into real estate, overbidding normal people to do so. “If You Sell a House These Days, the Buyer Might Be a Pension Fund,” the title says. “Yield-chasing investors are snapping up single-family homes, competing with ordinary Americans and driving up prices.” The resulting social media traffic made the article No. 1 on the WSJ website on June 10. “You now have permanent capital competing with a young couple trying to buy a house,” real estate consultant John Burns told the Wall Street...

COLUMBIA, S.C. (FOX 46 CHARLOTTE) – The U.S. District Court of South Carolina denied Friday an injunction filed by two death row inmates scheduled for execution starting next week. Death row inmates Brad Sigmon and Freddie Owens asked the court to find the electric chair to be declared cruel and unusual punishment violating the 8th amendment to the U.S. constitution. The case stems from Governor McMaster adding firing squad to the state’s execution methods except the firing squad is yet to be created and lethal injection is arguably unavailable. So Sigmon and Owens are set to die by the only...

I have been doing my own taxes since 1978 and it has NEVER taken THIS long to get a refund back from the federales. Of course they are blaming it on TrumpRID19, errrrr, I mean Covid. But since hubs has a biz and we experience a "paper loss" and also with Schedule E, investment property we are dumping $$$ into, we are expecting a refund over 6K. Filed on 3/5/21. Website says "processing"...

The Consumer Price Index report for May indicated a 5% increase in consumer prices over May 2020. The report suggests that the United States is on track to experience a 9.0% increase in consumer prices in 2021. That would be the largest annual increase in inflation since 1980, when it was 12.5%. To say that is concerning, especially to those of us who lived through the terrible, dispiriting runaway inflation of the 1970s, is to wildly underestimate how bad the news is. In the 1970s, inflation routinely reached double digits, and it only came under control because of the intense,...

Throughout 2020, the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) paid Western media outlets to push propaganda through positive reporting on China. In countries around the world, media coverage of China was more than twice as likely to be positive than negative during last year. The lack of negative media reports is surprising considering the CCP's covering up the outbreak of the global COVID-19 pandemic which caused millions of deaths, triggered a worldwide recession that contracted the global economy by an estimated 4.4 percent, and drastically altered life for every single human being on the planet.

ABC 33/40 news anchor Christopher Sign passed away in his home over the weekend, according to his family, colleagues and Hoover police. His body was discovered around 8 a.m. Saturday morning. He was 45-years-old. The police department has said that they are investigating the death as a suicide He is the whistleblower who broke the Clinton/Lynch story about their meeting. When the tarmac story came out, it made massive waves internationally as the secret meeting took place during the election — and just days before then-FBI Director James Comey announced the bureau would not recommend charges against Hillary Clinton. After an eight-month absence following his on-screen masturbation in front of fellow employees during a Zoom meeting with New Yorker Magazine colleagues, CNN's longtime chief legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin his been restored to his cable news post. His first "gig" was to be interviewed by anchor Alisyn Camerota on CNN's "Newsroom" program. Camerota's first question was "what the hell were you thinking?" Toobin responded "well, as most people know, the New Yorker is a very pro-masturbation environment. Self pleasuring is the safest form of sex. Toward the tail end of a very boring Zoom meeting I thought why not have...

In a February interview, to allay one of the more significant conflict-of-interest fears voters had regarding President Joe Biden’s nascent administration, Biden said there’d be absolutely no one from his family working in the federal government. The remarks came when a People magazine interviewer brought up the ugly specter of Biden’s son, Hunter, and his work for Ukrainian energy giant Burisma while his father was the Obama administration’s point-man on Ukraine, as well as Hunter’s ties to China. Asked if the president was “putting up guardrails for family and friends, too, to avoid any appearance of wrongdoing,” Biden insisted he...

The terrorists rode on motorcycles to the home in Afghanistan. They wore masks and carried guns. They came upon a little boy, grabbed him by the neck and demanded he bring them bread. If he didn’t, they would harm him and his family, they said. The little boy was 9 years old. He had never seen a gun before. He was scared. He did as they asked. That interaction, decades later, could prove to be a death sentence for Zalmay Niazy — an Iowa Falls man and the little boy in that story. A decade after the day he brought...

So here's my thing. I want to find a doctor I could have a long conversation with, who will do some deep, comprehensive testing to find out what's wrong with me (35, male, falling apart). I ask the nurse practitioner I see for a big, comprehensive blood test to see if there are any other problems with me. She asks "what do you want tested." I say I don't know, because I'm not a medical professional and don't know where to start. It's like a circular conversation. Then she tells me to exercise when I have no energy, and tells...

Earlier in the week I asked the question: What if Proof of 2020 Presidential Election Fraud Develops? In it I mentioned a number of remedies that have been widely talked about from impeachment to a Pentagon coup to rioting in the streets. None of those is an ideal solution. Indeed, the first wouldn’t correct the problem, the second would turn the United States into a third world banana republic and the last would bring about a modern version of the bloody chaos that characterized post revolutionary France. No, an ideal solution would reverse the inauguration of Joe Biden and inaugurate...

the country has seen a wave of gun-related deaths as it reopens amid the coronavirus pandemic. According to data compiled by the Gun Violence Archive for NBC News, firearm deaths increased by 15 percent last month compared to the same period in 2019. Republicans have attributed the rise in violence to progressive efforts to reform and in some cases direct funds away from police departments. But Democrats say gun policies are at the heart of the issue. "At the moment there's so many examples of irresponsible gun ownership, people having easy access to guns. It sort of makes the case,"...
