Like the KGB, the woke know that everyone has a breaking point. They are trained to push their victims until they snap. In the Soviet Union, we learned to silently endure official meetings, eyes glued to the floor, heavy sighs suppressed, hoping for some fresh air and a smoke when it was all over. The state seemed indestructible. But when it became possible to speak the truth again in the mid-’80s, the whole rotten apparatus quickly collapsed. The woke have no winning arguments: contra their assertions, white skin does not confer guilt, America was founded in 1776, and there are...

"Behold, the Bridegroom comes at midnight, and blessed is the servant whom He shall find watching; and again, unworthy is the servant whom He shall find heedless. Beware, therefore, O my soul, do not be weighed down with sleep, lest you be given up to death and lest you be shut out of the Kingdom. But rouse yourself crying: Holy, holy, holy, art Thou, O our God. Through the Theotokos, have mercy on us."+ Troparion of Bridegroom Matins The services of the first few days of Orthodox Holy Week have a collective theme of judgment. The centerpiece of those days...

We all have bad moments. Plenty of us also have moments that just look bad when taken out of context. These instances used to break the surface of public attention only briefly, if at all. When they lingered, they did so only as painful personal memories. But over the past decade, all that has changed. “Cancellation” has become a regular occurrence, and the threat of it hangs over us all. High-quality video cameras are everywhere, and anything can be recorded. Thanks to social media, even the most trivial interaction can be captured and broadcast to the world. So you lose...

Rep. Liz Cheney (R-Wyo.) and House GOP leadership do not appear to have mended fences as the party tries to put on a unified front. In fact, the relationship is "very near a breaking point," Punchbowl News' Jake Sherman writes, adding that in all his years covering the House "this is about as bad as it's gotten." House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) appeared to suggest in a recent Politico interview that Cheney, the GOP conference chair who has remained vocal in her criticism of former President Donald Trump in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, should try...

It’s no different than an emissions test by Volkswagen passing an emissions test on a diesel car.” Brakey also told the War Room the elites “built a computer that they knew would cheat.”

U.S. health officials say fully vaccinated Americans don’t need to wear masks outdoors anymore unless they are in a big crowd of strangers, and those who are unvaccinated can go without a face covering outside in some cases, too. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released the updated guidance Tuesday in yet another carefully calibrated step on the road back to normal from the coronavirus outbreak that has killed over 570,000 people in U.S. For most of the past year, the CDC had been advising Americans to wear masks outdoors if they are within 6 feet of each other....

Longtime Democrat strategist James Carville told Vox on Tuesday that "wokeness is a problem" for the party "and we all know it." Carville added that despite success in the 2020 elections, Democrats have a "messaging problem." "If we’re just talking about [President Joe Biden] Biden, it’s very difficult to find something to complain about," Carville said. "And to me his biggest attribute is that he’s not into 'faculty lounge’ politics." Carville explained. "You ever get the sense that people in faculty lounges in fancy colleges use a different language than ordinary people?," he said. "They come up with a word...

n 1948, a scar running west to east began to appear across the center of The Bronx. It was the construction of the Cross Bronx Expressway, one of the many ill-conceived works of Robert Moses, and it would leave an indelible mark on our borough. The highway, which would eventually become one of America’s most congested, tore communities in half. White neighborhoods and communities of color were affected, but the Black and Latino community bears the brunt of its legacy years later — with devastating health consequences. It’s past time to rectify the mistake of Moses’s monstrosity. Ed García Conde...
