"Tell me not, in mournful numbers, Life is but an empty dream! For the soul is dead that slumbers, And things are not what they seem. Life is real! Life is earnest! And the grave is not its goal; Dust thou art, to dust returnest,] Was not spoken of the soul. Not enjoyment, and not sorrow, Is our destined end or way; But to act, that each to-morrow Find us farther than to-day. Art is long, and Time is fleeting, And our hearts, though stout and brave, Still, like muffled drums, are beating Funeral marches to the grave. In the...

Two children were struck by stray bullets and killed inside their home Tuesday night in Trenton, New Jersey. The shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. on Mulberry Street. Police say the brothers, 16-year-old Gustavo Perez and 8-year-old Johnny Perez, were on the second floor when the shooting began. Trenton’s mayor and police director called for unity and for more police action. “The short end is that we just don’t know what happened. Police are piecing that together, but we really need to gather as a community,” Mayor Reed Gusciora said. “I am demanding my officers to stop riding past crime,” Trenton...

With 6,209,849 ballots cast, the GOP dominates the early vote. 53% GOP to 37% DEM. About 44% of all registered voters have voted. Youth vote as a percentage collapses to 11% of total votes from 19% in 2016. Recent polls have suggested DJT and Biden are tied. These are not accurate given the over 6,000,000 sample of actual voter data. https://www.toptradeguru.com/news/elections-2020/results/texas-early-ballot-returns-shows-polls-are-wrong/

Oldest Roman body armour found in Germany Archaeologists have discovered the oldest and most complete Roman body armour at the site of the Battle of the Teutoburg Forest in Kalkriese, Germany. Before this find, the earliest known examples of Roman lorica segmentata — iron plate sections tied together — were found in Corbridge, UK, and date to the 2nd century. Those were fragments. WASHINGTON -- Supreme Court nominee Amy Coney Barrett won crucial backing Saturday when one of the last Republican holdouts announced her support for President Donald Trump's pick ahead of a confirmation vote expected Monday. Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska, said during Saturday’s session that while she opposed her party’s decision to push ahead with the nomination process so close to the Nov. 3 presidential election, she supported the federal judge who is on track to lock in a conservative court majority for years to come...

VATICAN CITY, October 24, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) ― Just a few hours ago, a group of young Catholics gathered in St. Peter’s Square in Rome, asking Pope Francis “for clarity on same-sex unions.” In a documentary released earlier this week, the Holy Father had expressed his support for homosexual civil unions. Led by Alexander Tschugguel, known as the Pachamama dunker, the young people of Austria’s St. Boniface Institute gathered in St. Peter’s Square today with a...

“Cuties” turned out to be ugly for Netflix. The streaming service has watched subscription cancellations skyrocket by 800% after the French coming-of-age film triggered a boycott in early September, analyses show. Within two days of the movie’s premiere, #CancelNetflix became the top trending topic on Twitter and a petition on Change.org garnered hundreds of thousands of signatures. Netflix’s chief financial officer Spence Neumann didn’t mention “Cuties” in a third-quarter earnings call this week, instead focusing on the first half of the year, when coronavirus lockdowns nationwide drove subscriptions. Neumann told investors the company “came pretty close” to meeting its membership...

With Murkowski's Announcement, Amy Coney Barrett's SCOTUS Confirmation Is Assured Okay, I might have overreacted toward Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), but her vote to not enter an executive session in the Senate regarding the Supreme Court nomination of Judge Amy Coney Barrett should have raised red flags for everyone at the time. This is the weak sauce caucus, folks. Sens. Mitt Romney (R-UT), Lisa Murkowski, and Susan Collins (R-ME) are the three amigos when it comes to making trouble within our ranks in the Senate.

(New Zealand) Bishops endorse civil unions stand by Pope Francis Pope Francis was widely quoted this week supporting same-sex civil unions –– which have been available in Aotearoa New Zealand since 26 April 2005. This is a comment on the pope's statement by Bishop Patrick Dunn, Bishop of Auckland and President of the NZ Catholic Bishops’ Conference: “I endorse the reported comments of Pope Francis. I know that he is anxious for LGBTQ people to know that they are valued members of the family of the Church as they are of their own families. We want their happiness, and for...

The goal was allegedly to obtain contracts for projects across the country, the New York Post reported. Jim Biden, Joe Biden's brother, allegedly sent a memo on May 15, 2017 to Hunter and three other partners about a limited liability company (LLC). A friend emailed this to me. Don't know how truthful/accurate it is. ********************************************************* Preparing to say goodbye... a message from Clint Eastwood My Twilight Years at 90 ... If you realize each day is a gift, you may be near my age. As I enjoy my twilight years, I am often struck by the inevitability that the party must end. There will come a clear, cold morning when there isn't any "more." No more hugs, no more special moments to celebrate together, no more phone calls just to chat. It seems to me that one of the important things to...

Murder hornets from the first nest discovered on US soil have been successfully sucked out of a tree cavity and placed on ice after experts located the nest in Washington state this week by attaching radio trackers to the bugs. The so-called murder hornets, known for their potentially fatal sting to humans and their ability to wipe out an entire bee hive in a matter of hours, were vacuumed out of the tree into a long plastic tube before being killed, marking the culmination of a complex removal process Saturday morning.

Credit the group One Million Moms with spurring me to brave covid-19-struck Washington, D.C., and make a beeline to the grocery store to purchase some Oreo cookies. I could do no less in light of a scurrilous campaign the organization has launched against Oreo and its parent company, Mondelez International. Not to be confused with the Million Mom March gun-safety organization, OneMillionMoms.com is an online ministry of the American Family Association, a self-described “conservative, pro-family” organization based in Tupelo, Miss. One Million Moms is out of sorts because Oreo has joined with the nonprofit PFLAG — an organization of supportive...
