An international team of scientists said Monday it had joined forces to combat the spread of anti-Semitism online with the help of artificial intelligence. The project Decoding Anti-Semitism includes discourse analysts, computational linguists and historians who will develop a "highly complex, AI-driven approach to identifying online anti-Semitism," the Alfred Landecker Foundation, which supports the project, said in a statement Monday. "In order to prevent more and more users from becoming radicalized on the web, it is important to identify the real dimensions of anti-Semitism - also taking into account the implicit forms that might become more explicit over time," said...

A Tennessee program is now taking donations of whole deer from hunters to feed families in need. Tennessee Wildlife Federation’s Hunters for the Hungry program is in full swing for the 2020 deer season. More than 60 processors in counties throughout the state are now accepting donations of whole deer to help feed local families in need. And this year, the need is greater than ever due to the coronavirus pandemic. “Because of COVID-19, more Tennesseans than ever are having to rely on hunger relief organizations to help feed their families,” said Matt Simcox, Hunters for the Hungry manager. “That’s...

By now only someone living in the most remote reaches of equatorial Africa could not know that Ruth Ginsburg died and that there is now a vacancy at the U.S. Supreme Court . . . right in time for the election chaos the Democrats had already planned to roll out. This will be Donald TrumpÂ’s third USSC appointment. In case you were interested, no, it doesnÂ’t come close to the record for a first-term president. Obviously, George Washington, who named all of the original Supreme Court justices (six) has the record. But William Howard Taft, an otherwise inconsequential president, also named...

Through a bit of remarkable reporting by Lachlan Markay, The Daily Beast has revealed the mysterious life of William B. Crews. Known professionally as an official for the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, the public health agency overseen by Dr. Anthony Fauci, he is also the anonymous managing editor of pro-Trump website Red State. Known there by the pen name “streiff,” he has written a series of harangues attacking Dr. Fauci and the “deep state” over the pandemic response. For the blissfully uninitiated, Redstate holds sway in conservative circles, including with members of Congress and their staffers on...

Senators were set to return to Washington on Monday with a Supreme Court confirmation fight looming, as Republican leaders weighed the timing of a vote to fill the vacancy left by the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. With President Trump vowing to name a replacement by the weekend, Senator Mitch McConnell, Republican of Kentucky and the majority leader, was working behind the scenes to lock up the support he would need to proceed before Inauguration Day — and possibly before the Nov. 3 election.

Minnesota Democrat Rep. Collin Peterson took a swipe at Congresswoman Ilhan Omar saying “she doesn’t belong in our party.” Peterson was addressing past comments in which Omar dismissed the 9/11 terrorist attacks as “some people did something.” He had previously come to her defense. In an April interview, Peterson had explained where Omar might have been coming from. “I think she was trying to say that some people in her community feel like they’re being targeted,” he said. When confronted more recently, the Minnesota Democrat walked back his comments.

The bars and restaurants in Nashville, Tennessee have been open with limited capacity after being forced to closed down for two months from March to May amid the coronavirus pandemic. San Diego County Health Officials, Dr. Wilma Wooten and Supervisor Nathan Fletcher, have been telling San Diego if we open bars and restaurants at full capacity, or for indoor dining, our cases will skyrocket. But, in Nashville, that is not the case. In early August, Dr. Wooten went as far to say as San Diego County was seeing an increase and cases because people were “eating at tables with no...

Former Vice President Joe Biden and President Donald Trump have struck a dead heat in the race for North Carolina, according to a poll released Monday. An Emerson College/Nexstar Media poll of North Carolina likely voters found that 50 percent would vote for Biden, while 49 percent would vote for Trump. With the poll’s 3.6 percent margin of error, this makes the race for North Carolina’s 15 electoral votes a virtual tie. One percent of voters remain undecided. The Emerson College poll in August had Trump leading by two points against Biden, or 48 to 46 percent, with six percent...

Florida counties and cities that cut funding from their police departments could lose out on state funding and grants. Gov. Ron DeSantis put forward a proposal for the Combatting Violence, Disorder and Looting and Law Enforcement Protection Act on Monday, which in part targets communities looking to take part in the “Defund the Police” movement. The act “prohibits state grants or aid to any local government that slashes the budget for law enforcement services.” If passed, it would also increase possible criminal penalties for protestors if gatherings turn violent, result in property damage or cause road blockage. The proposal states...

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán railed against liberal ideology Monday, insisting conservatives must defend schoolchildren from destructive leftist propaganda. There are “irreconcilable differences in education policy” between liberals and conservatives, Mr. Orbán argued in an extended written address, with conservatives focusing on helping children “to be capable of becoming patriots who can carry forward our tried and tested traditions.” The prime minister reserved some of his most pointed language for resisting the left’s push for gender theory in schools.

Jimmy “The Blackface-N-Word-User” Kimmel now has the distinction of holding two television records. In 2018, he drove the Oscars to a all-time ratings low. This year he drove the Emmys to an all-time ratings low. Sunday night’s Emmy telecast, which was hosted by Jimmy “The Blackface-N-Word-User” Kimmel were not just a catastrophe. They were a catastrophe on top of a catastrophe. What I mean is that last year’s Emmy ratings were a catastrophe, and now this year’s are an even bigger catastrophe. Last year, the Emmys hit a record low with just 6.9 million viewers.

The New York Times excoriated CNN in a column Sunday that indicated the liberal network either “amped up outrage and righteousness” with anti-Trump coverage to increase ratings or CNN Worldwide president Jeff Zucker simply wants to destroy the man he helped turn into a star. Times media columnist Ben Smith’s latest piece, “Jeff Zucker Helped Create Donald Trump. That Show May Be Ending,” argues that the bizarre relationship between the TV honcho and the president has left the once-nonpartisan CNN “competing with MSNBC for the same enraged American audience” of anti-Trump viewers. Smith wrote that “Zucker’s professional passion has never...

Two reports of HIV infection occurring despite apparent adequate adherence to PrEP, confirmed by drug level testing, are the first reliably documented cases to be published in peer-reviewed journals since 2018. The most recent case was reported by Dr Matthew Spinelli in Clinical Infectious Diseases. It concerns a 44-year-old gay man in Texas and appears not to be due to poor adherence, but to infection with an HIV virus with an unusual combination of resistance mutations. Two characteristics of the case make it hard to argue against this being a genuine case of PrEP breakthrough. Firstly, samples of blood and...

There are no locks in sports betting. Always remember that. Even when the team you’re betting on has a 15-point lead in the fourth quarter, they can still blow it. And that’s how we come to one of the worst beats you’ll ever hear about. With seven minutes left on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons led the Dallas Cowboys 39-24. Their odds on the in-game line was -3333. Someone bet $35,000 to win $1,050 on the Falcons’ moneyline, according to BetMGM. Oh, no.
