Former VP Joe Biden bizarrely suggested that Donald Trump was holding-up relief efforts to “put his signature on a physical check.” “No American should have to wait a single minute so Donald Trump can put his signature on a physical check,” said Biden. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) expressed his disgust at “Trump’s unpresidential response to my criticism of his failures. Rather than graciously acknowledge his deficiencies and resign from office, he defended his leadership during the COVID-19 crisis, corrected my so-called inaccuracies, and called me a bad senator.” Trump rebutted the Senator’s criticisms by pointing out that “his demand that I appoint a ‘czar’ to lead us in this crisis conveniently ignores the fact that Vice-President Pence has already been appointed to head up our effort and that Rear Admiral John Polowczyk is in charge of purchasing and distributing medical supplies....

Kentucky officials are warning residents of fake coronavirus testing sites in the Louisville area, according to the Louisville Courier Journal. Medical marketing companies offering coronavirus tests, including one that promises results in 24 hours, have charged people up to $250 per test. "It's a scam," Metro Council President David James told local broadcaster WDRB. "They would test somebody and use the same gloves they used on the person before. They get your $240 dollars plus they can turn in fake Medicaid claims."

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) - Police broke up a gathering of about 50 protesters outside of a Charlotte abortion clinic on Saturday. Eight people who refused to leave the premise at the Preferred Women’s Health Center on Latrobe Drive were arrested. Police said the gathering of 50 people violated the mass gatherings in the North Carolina Stay at Home Order. All of the participants were asked to leave, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg police. After an initial request for compliance, 12 people who were in violation refused to leave and were issued a citation for Violation of Emergency Prohibitions and Restrictions under NCGS...

We live very close to the Louisiana state line. So close, that to get to a small Texas town south of us, the shortest way is to go through a part of Louisiana. On a trip to that small town south of us today, my wife encountered several Texas DPS officers on US 84 stopping out of state cars with Louisiana tags. It appears governor Abbot is enforcing the ban on non-essential people coming from Louisiana to Texas.

The night had been particularly tough. Patient after patient had to be intubated and put on a ventilator to breathe. At one point, three “codes” — emergency interventions when someone is on the brink of death — occurred at once. Dr. Joshua Rosenberg, a critical care doctor, arrived the next morning at the Brooklyn Hospital Center. Within hours, he was racing down the stairwell from the main intensive care unit on the sixth floor to a temporary one on the third, where he passed one of his favorite medical students. “Shouldn’t you be home?” he asked, registering surprise. Clinical rotations...

A few days ago we revealed how Zoom's end-to-end encryption is not actually what users would expect from such kind of encryption as the company still had the ability to access the calls taking place. Followed by that news, SpaceX issued a statement that they are banning the use of Zoom, and their workers will now rely on emails, texts, and phone calls to conduct any business. Needless to say, Zoom was already in hot waters as the service is now being used all over the world because of the work from home situation, and in these dire times, a...

Video at link, end of article. Every day, the White House Coronavirus Task Force briefs the nation on the Wuhan coronavirus, the federal government's response to the virus and the next steps that we, as a nation, must take. It seems like one continual question comes up: why doesn't President Donald Trump issue a national stay-at-home order, otherwise referred to as a national lockdown? The president addressed that very issue during Saturday's briefing. "Mr. President, you said you want to see as few lives lost as possible in the pandemic, but there are still eight governors, all Republicans, who have...

President Donald Trump fired off a laundry list of grievances at his daily White House press conference with the coronavirus task force Saturday, bashing Rep. Adam Schiff, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo, former Vice President Joe Biden, and the Ukraine whistleblower. The wild diatribe was kicked off by a reporter asking Trump about his firing of Michael Atkinson, the intelligence community inspector general who told Congress about the whistleblower complaint regarding Trump’s phone call with Ukraine, ultimately leading to his impeachment. “I thought he did a terrible job,” Trump said. “Absolutely terrible.” Trump proceeded to falsely claim the Ukraine whistleblower...

Nevada Governor Steve Sisolak, Democrat, had a kneejerk reaction to President Trump's optimism about a malaria drug that might be an effective treatment for the Wuhan coronavirus. Trump was hopeful about the drug, so anti-Trump Democrats like Sisolak were against it. Gov. Sisolak banned (hydroxy)chloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19, ostensibly over concern of hoarders stockpiling the medicine and causing shortages for patients who use the drug for other ailments like Lupus and Rheumatoid Arthritis. But while the governor restricted the public from receiving the potentially life-saving drug, Nevada's Department of Corrections began stockpiling the drug for prisoners. (Via 360...

The U.S. recession is here. How long it will last will depend on the course of a viral pandemic that could still kill hundreds of thousands of Americans, and has most of the country under lockdowns aimed at slowing the infection's spread. But how quickly the world's biggest economy will recover will depend on how much aid the government gives it, and how effectively it can be used to stem what are already millions of job losses, Fed officials said on Thursday. "One thing we know from 2008, when you had millions and millions and millions of Americans losing their...

It was only a couple of weeks ago when the Finnish prime minister Sanna Marin, accompanied by Minister of Social Affairs and Health Aino-Kaisa Pekonen, Minister of Family Affairs and Social Services Krista Kiuru, and Minister of Finance Katri Kulmuni marched into a press conference and announced that there is no epidemic in Finland and not much needed to be done. At the time, there were only two confirmed cases of Covid-19 in the country. Last Thursday, the same ministers walked in again in the same order to announce that now the epidemic in Finland can not be stopped,...

  • ‘Staggering and unprecedented’ budget shortfall forecast for City of Ithaca

Early projections show the City of Ithaca is due to have a budget shortfall of anywhere between $9 and $20 million dollars resulting from the COVID-19 shutdown. Mayor Myrick made the statement during a Thursday meeting of Ithaca’s Urban Renewal Agency. With the city’s total budget at $73 million dollars, highest estimates could mean a shortfall of nearly 28%. Myrick calls the numbers staggering and unprecedented. He says the only way the city can survive is with federal assistance. Calculations from the City Controllers office account for a lack of sales revenue, and parking fees among other items.

The final voyage of the Coral Princess to PortMiami on Saturday morning was a race against time to get urgent care for multiple passengers suffering from the new coronavirus. Two people had already died — including a woman from South Carolina on Friday night — while last-minute negotiations shifted the cruise ship from its first-choice destination, Port Everglades in Fort Lauderdale. Officials quickly devised a plan signed just before the ship docked: Take nearly 1,000 healthy travelers — screened and wearing masks — directly to Miami International Airport for flights home; bring four extremely sick passengers (including at least one...

(CNN) The coronavirus pandemic has challenged Christian churches to find socially distant ways to launch Holy Week on Palm Sunday. Also known as Passion Sunday, the day recounts the biblical story of Jesus' triumphant arrival in Jerusalem before his crucifixion, with palm leaves and clothing laid in his path. It comes on the last Sunday of Lent and first day of Holy Week. Before the deadly pandemic's social distancing guidelines altered life across America, Christians often celebrated with processions and the distribution of palm leaves. So faith leaders throughout the country have come up with new ways to observe the...
