When Democratic front-runner Bernie Sanders couldn't get the math on his healthcare plan to add up in Tuesday night's debate, he just resorted to lying. Sanders came under fire in the debate because he has proposed a plan to offer free insurance to all that would require a net of $32 trillion in new tax revenue, and yet, his proposed tax hikes, as sweeping as they are, would generate only $17.5 trillion, according to his campaign. That's a gap equivalent to about four years of the entire federal budget. In the midst of a contentious back-and-forth, Sanders eventually delivered the...

The Democrats are at their lowest point since the outbreak of the Civil War. Derangement by definition means acting in self-destructive ways, and mass derangement, specifically Trump Derangement Syndrome, is the animating force behind a large share of the thoughts and actions of both leaders and followers of the world’s oldest political party. Put starkly, the crazies have grabbed control and reinforce one another, spinning farther and farther away from the mainstream of American political life. A few vignettes this week illustrate the crisis.

February 25, 2020 268 COMMENTS I believe that Bernie Sanders poses an existential danger to our Republic, so is it incumbent on me to do all that I can to stop him. To that end, after leaving work on Friday, I drove 250+ miles to Las Vegas. Once I arrived, I googled “Nevada Biden Office” and drove to the nearest office, arriving at 9:16 p.m. after they had finished their last class. I spoke to the staffer asking how I could help. She gave me a crash course on how to be a “Precinct Captain.”

RUSH: Thank you again to the Vice President Mike Pence. We have known that the vice president was going to be a guest on the program for a few days, but we had to keep it quiet for security reasons. WeÂ’re more than happy to do that. But heÂ’s just such a genuine person, nice guy. Very serious. I just was looking here. I wish I had a chance to run this by him, but heÂ’s already off to his meeting with Governor DeSantis. But apparently, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was being questioned by a member of Congress, Ted...

We refer, of course, to Atlanta, Georgia-based strategist Robert Cahaly – who landed on the national radar in 2016 after he was one of the only pollsters to correctly predict U.S. president Donald Trump’s upset victory over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. Cahaly has continued to hit the nail on the head ever since (especially in South Carolina), constantly refining his methodology as he generates incisively accurate results year after year, election after election. We have been bombarded in recent days with readers asking us if we had “seen any Cahaly polling” for the Democratic primary. Or whether any “Cahaly numbers”...

WASHINGTON (AP) — A political advocacy group founded by Bernie Sanders entered into a nondisclosure agreement with an African American political consultant that bars her from discussing a lawsuit alleging racial discrimination at the organization and the Vermont senator’s 2016 presidential campaign. The consultant, Tezlyn Figaro, confirmed the existence of the nondisclosure agreement to The Associated Press without providing additional details. The deal is tied to a 2019 lawsuit in which Figaro said she was fired from the Sanders-created political group Our Revolution a year earlier due to her race and in “retaliation for complaining about the organization’s treatment towards...

Billionaire and Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said the coronavirus that has killed at least 2,859 people and infected more than 83,700 globally may be the “once-in-a-century pathogen we’ve been worried about.” “I hope it’s not that bad, but we should assume it will be until we know otherwise,” Gates wrote in an article published Friday in The New England Journal of Medicine. Gates and his wife, Melinda, founded The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in 2000 to help improve world health and combat extreme poverty. The foundation announced Feb. 5 that it would donate $100 million to help find treatments...

... Right now, world trading markets are taking a major hit. Governments are blowing the dust off their old pandemic plans and feeding details to click-hungry press outlets. "We may have to use stadiums for mass quarantines of suspected epidemic cases..." "We have to cancel large events." Apparently, China has a hundred million people in some form of lockdown. There is no doubt that this insanity can continue, regardless of the facts: who cares whether researchers ever really discovered the COV virus; who cares that diagnostic tests are worthless for defining a case of COV; who cares that case numbers...

A reality television star who has made a career out of cutting deals with average citizens decried the "insanity" of Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders's presidential campaign. Pawn Stars host Rick Harrison defended capitalism and backed hard work as the key to success during his second appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. "Bernie Sanders wants to tax me at 90%," Harrison said during a question-and-answer session after his 10-minute speech at the event in National Harbor, Maryland. "Why would I want to open up a business if I'm not going to make any money?" Sanders, a socialist, is...

A little more than two weeks before I planned to meet the feminist theorist Sophie Lewis, her mother died. She had been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer in March, requiring Lewis to travel back and forth between her home in Philadelphia and a hospital in the UK—a journey she technically wasn’t allowed to make due to the pending status of her green card. When her mother passed away in late November, she did so thousands of miles away, while Lewis and her brother sang the Taylor Swift song “Safe and Sound” to her over Skype. Earlier that month, at a...

The head of Michael Bloomberg’s presidential campaign in North Carolina made a homophobic crack in front of a reporter while talking about Pete Buttigieg during a meeting with local preachers. The staffer, James Mitchell, started naming Bloomberg’s rivals: “You have Biden, Sanders, Warren, Butti-Jay,” he said, according to a story written by veteran political reporter Ben Jacobs, which was posted in Medium.com. Mitchell, then gestured toward a minister, Dwayne Walker, and added: “Pastor, you got me saying what you were saying — Butti-Jay,” to laughter in the room. Mitchell added: “He said something different — I’m cleaning it up.” It...

Barring an unexpected change, Tom Brady’s days with the New England Patriots appear to be over. The Hall of Fame quarterback and the only team he has ever played for throughout his legendary NFL career have not been in contact about a new contract. In fact, one person with ‘knowledge of the situation’ told the Boston Herald that the odds of Brady suiting up for the Pats in his 21st season are ‘not looking good.’

“We are on the highest level of alert or highest level of risk assessment in terms of spread and in terms of impact,” said Dr. Mike Ryan, executive director of WHO’s health emergencies program. The group isn’t trying to alarm or scare people, he said. “This is a reality check for every government on the planet: Wake up. Get ready. This virus may be on its way and you need to be ready. You have a duty to your citizens, you have a duty to the world to be ready.” [SNIP] Outside China as of Friday morning, 4,351 cases across...

The Berkeley-IGS poll, overseen by my former office suite-mate pollster Mark DiCamillo, is out with new numbers today showing Bernie Sanders running away with the California primary next week, where 415 delegates are at stake: Sanders is now the choice of 34% of likely voters in the primary, twice the support of Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, his nearest rival who is preferred by 17%. Former New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg receives 12% and former South Bend Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg is at 11%. Further back are former Vice President Joe Biden at 8% and Minnesota Senator Amy Klobuchar at...
