Princeton Theological Seminary will set aside more than $25 million to pay reparations for its historical ties to slavery, thrusting the seminary to the forefront of a national debate over how America’s should reconcile with its slave-owning past. Calling the payments an act of repentance, President M. Craig Barnes said in a statement Friday the seminary is “committed to telling the truth," even though the seminary itself never owned slaves. Founded in 1812, the seminary benefited from the slave economy through investments in Southern banks and from donors who profited from slavery. Its founding faculty and leaders used slave labor...

Post #13. With so many rats running for president in 2020 it's hard to keep up with who's in and who's out. Hopefully, this post will help. Below is a list of declared candidates, their occupation, the date they dropped from the race (if they did) and misc. notes. This thread will be reposted each week, likely on Monday, with the dropouts from the previous week and newly declared candidates noted. Sorry this is so boring. It's now four weeks and counting since someone dropped out. Newly declared candidates from last week: none, thankfully, but ya never know. Please let...

Transgender cyclist Rachel McKinnon continues to dominate women’s cycling. It has not been an easy ride. Last weekend at the Masters Track Cycling World Championships in Manchester, England, the 37-year-old Canadian first set a world record in qualifying for the 35-39 age category 200-meter sprint, then went on to defend her title in the finals. Her success, however, has been overshadowed by frustrated competitors. In an interview with Sky News, former cycling champion Victoria Hood said, “It is not complicated. The science is there and it says that it is unfair. The male body, which has been through male puberty,...

Nancy Pelosi is dabbling in Middle East policy again. She’s leading a congressional delegation to Jordan to discuss Middle East “peace” and Syria with members of the royal family. This isn’t Pelosi’s first foray into Syrian matters. More than a decade ago, she met with Syria’s Bashar al-Assad. At that time, she pronounced Assad the key bringing peace to the Middle East. “The road to peace is through Damascus,” the dupe Speaker declared. In the years just prior to Pelosi’s visit, the Bush administration had largely succeeded in efforts to isolate Assad, as our European and Arab allies shunned the...

San Francisco’s mayoral campaign took an ugly turn over the weekend that left several community leaders outraged and the incumbent London Breed “shocked” by a personal attack displayed on a billboard in the city’s South of Market neighborhood. The billboard in San Francisco’s SoMa district depicts Mayor London Breed in a red dress and heels with her feet up, holding a cigar in one hand and a stack of money in the other. The message “Stop slavery and human trafficing [sic] in SF” is visible. Shown in a thought bubble coming from the woman are lines of individuals with numbers...

Here at NewsBusters, we have a love/hate relationship with the CBS drama God Friended Me. It can be a faith-friendly show with positive messages, but, like all network television, it has also included a left-wing LGBT agenda. But this Sunday’s episode, “All Those Yesterdays,” proved again why God Friended Me has landed on our “nice” list in the past. When new character Joy (Jessica Lu) joined the “God account” team this season, we learned that she had placed a child in a closed adoption at age 16. The audience discovered a few weeks ago that Joy arrived in New York...

Only days ago, California’s Governor Gavin Newsom signed a new, first of its kind law that will require all tax-payer funded public universities to make chemical abortion available to students. That’s right, the Governor of California has decided it is reasonable to force the taxpayers of California to pay for campus abortions! According to a report from the California’s Department of Finance (which objected to the legislation), “the new policy would cost University of California–system schools somewhere between $4.6 million and $7.8 million to initiate, with additional ongoing costs of $2.2 million to $3.3 million beginning in 2023 to operate...

Canada 2019: Live updates8:01 PM EDT: Riding to watch as the votes start really flowing in from the Maritimes: West Nova, where the Liberals had a 59% chance to hold at the beginning of the night. This riding is the first real bellwether riding as depicted in the Bellwether-o-gram: the model puts the probability of a Liberal plurality conditional on winning West Nova at 90%, and the probability of a Conservative plurality conditional on that at 60%, both of which are way up from their overall probabilities at the start of the evening. For what it’s worth, the Conservative candidate...

(CNN) — House Democrats are facing a time crunch to quickly wrap up their investigation into allegations President Donald Trump abused his office in pushing Ukraine to probe his political rivals, prompting growing expectations that votes on impeaching Trump could slip closer to the end of the year. Some Democrats had hoped that a narrow probe -- focused on whether Trump put on ice efforts to bolster relations with Ukraine and provide US military aid to the country until it carried through with a political favor -- could conclude swiftly, with a potential vote to impeach Trump by Thanksgiving. But...
