The Supreme Court on Friday agreed to review an appeals court ruling finding the Trump administration's efforts to expedite the removal of asylum seekers at the border unconstitutional. The administration had asked the Supreme Court to review the Ninth Circuit's decision that would give detained migrants the right to make their claims in federal court. Developing...

NASHVILLE, Tenn.--A new study from researchers at Texas A&M University finds Tennessee's abortion waiting period law has reduced the number of abortions by 6%. Passed in 2015 under then Governor Bill Haslam, the law sets a 48 hour waiting period before undergoing the procedure. The law has been challenged in federal court by abortion clinics which argue it provides no benefits and causes a burden to women. Focusing on the Tennessee law, the new study found while abortions overall decreased, the waiting period caused a 38% increase in the number of second-trimester abortions. The study also found the waiting period...

ST. LOUIS – Missouri officials are asking St. Louis police to provide security for an upcoming hearing on the state’s effort to end the abortion license for a St. Louis clinic. Both sides of the abortion issue have held vigils and protests over the licensing of Missouri’s only abortion clinic, which continues to offer abortion services while the case is pending. The next hearing is Oct. 28 at a state office building in downtown St. Louis. Administrative Hearing Commission staff attorney Ranada Vinyard told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that officials have been in contact with police because of the high-profile...

Women living in states with more restrictive policies on abortion are turning to online sources for medications that can be used to induce the procedure, a study published Thursday found. The study in the American Journal of Public Health examined data from a European online service called Women on Web. The service mails women early in their pregnancy two drugs — mifepristone and misoprostol — after a doctor reviews an online form filled out by the women. The women can then take the pills at home, without having to go to a clinic or other abortion provider. Over a period...

Former Ohio Gov. John Kasich (R) told CNN Friday that President Trump should be impeached after acting Chief of Staff Mick Mulvaney said the Trump administration had frozen military aid as leverage to get Ukraine to investigate a conspiracy theory about a DNC server. "To me, it's totally inappropriate. It's an abuse of power. Now I know that there are presidents that will withhold aid because they have policy differences, but this is not a policy difference. So my view is that — look, I fought with people on the air about 'Is there a quid pro quo?' and 'Does...

Louisiana could become the first state not to have legal abortion access since the procedure was legalized in 1973. Depending on the outcome of an upcoming Supreme Court case next spring, the state could see abortion access effectively eliminated, even though Roe v. Wade — the case that legalized the procedure — would stay intact. Louisiana's "Unsafe Abortion Protection Act" is at the heart of the Supreme Court case. The law, not currently in effect, would require doctors performing abortions to have admitting privileges at a nearby hospital. Supporters of the law say the regulation would assist with "continuity of...

Dive Brief: Illinois State Sen. Martin Sandoval has resigned from his position as chair of the State Senate's Transportation Committee amid a federal fraud and corruption investigation related to state construction work, the Associated Press reported. The Democratic senator is still listed as a member of the committee, however, as of Oct. 15. The move came after the details of a federal search warrant revealed that the FBI last month combed Sandoval's offices and home for information related to architect Cesar Santoy; Santoy's architecture firm, Studio ARQ; red-light camera program company SafeSpeed; lobbyists; construction companies; and employees of the Illinois...

Much of the discussion has seemed like an egg-centered debate: soft or hard, but it won't be over easy. A soft Brexit means staying closely aligned with the EU on trade, and is favored by Britons who oppose leaving. Hard means a clean break, and that could cost an estimated 9% of GDP cumulatively, along with 450,000 jobs. Pro tip: If a Brexit discussion gets too detailed, scare the other party off by insisting that a hard exit would "force the BOE back to the ZLB with more QE." Just in case your bluff is called, that's Bank of England,...

HARTLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- It's a place where thousands of families go every year to celebrate fall. After running the orchard for more than 50 years, the Spicer family has learned that you only pick apples when they are perfectly ripe. As harvest time nears, they check the apples every few days. On Sunday, October 6, the apples in the farm’s supplemental orchard on...

Jacksonville, FL – In an all-too-frequent scene at abortion facilities in America, an ambulance was spotted at the Women’s Choice of Jacksonville abortion facility in Jacksonville, Florida, on Friday, September 27, 2019. Operation Rescue obtained the 911 recording and CAD transcript, both of which were heavily and unnecessarily redacted. An employee of a Women’s Choice of Jacksonville phoned 911 at 1:07 p.m. for emergency assistance with a patient. A fire unit and ambulance were dispatched. The Jacksonville Fire Department covered all information about why city emergency services were summoned under a shrill screeching sound that blocked out the conversation between...

The hashtag #BedBugSummit trended on Twitter Friday due to allegations of past infestation at President Trump’s resort in Doral, Fla. The news resurfaced following the announcement that the U.S. will host next year’s Group of Seven (G-7) summit at the Trump property. In the day after White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney told reporters that the 2020 G-7 summit would take place at Trump National Doral, nearly 30,000 tweets had been sent using the hashtag. Holly Figueroa O’Reilly, a songwriter and founder of the Blue Wave Crowdsource — an organization that aims to support Democratic candidates — tweeted...

The Trump administration should have handled the conflict between Turkey and Syria with more careful consideration, Rep. Dan Crenshaw, R-Texas, said Friday. Appearing on "America's Newsroom" with host Sandra Smith, the former Navy SEAL said, "When America leaves, we create a vacuum. And, when we create a vacuum, we create chaos. And, that's what we're seeing right now."

President Donald Trump appeared alongside one of his allies in the luxury world to help open a Louis Vuitton (LV) workshop in rural Texas. The opening marked the first luxury brand to seemingly align itself with the controversial president, though LV leaders at the appearance wouldn't claim any formal association with Trump. Bernard Arnault, the CEO of Louis Vuitton's parent company LVMH, is a French billionaire who is the third richest person in the world and has had business interests wrapped up with Trump's presidency before. Though the legendary French company has workshops in California, Trump has touted the Texas...

In Democratic circles, there have been whispers for years that Hunter Biden could become a liability for his father. Questions about the younger Biden's overseas business dealings in Ukraine and China as well as his checkered past at home -- he dated his brother's widow, used cocaine, bought crack and allegedly spent so much money in strip clubs and on prostitutes that his family couldn't pay their bills -- has made him an easy target for President Trump.

As disgraced movie and culture critic Sonny Bunch has noted, environmentalists make good movie villains because they want to make your life worse. Climate cultists hate humanity and feel guilty for being part of it, so they want you to stop living your daily life in 2019. They feel human progress is a mistake. They hate all the things we've built. They scold us for driving to work, and now they're even trying to stop us from taking electric trains to work. These miserable misanthropes even hate food. Food! They're ashamed of eating things that taste good, so they want...

Full title: "‘Fun Times In Beijing’: Hunter Biden Received $700,000 From Company That Held Stake In Chinese Investment Firm" * Numerous news reports have asserted Hunter Biden received $50,000 a month from the Ukrainian natural gas company Burisma, but available records do not support that claim. * But the son of former Vice President Joe Biden did receive over $700,000 in payments from a capital management company called Rosemont Seneca Bohai, which obtained a 20% equity stake in BHR Partners, a Chinese investment firm.
