South Carolina hospitals are using a loophole in state law to scoop millions of dollars a year from the pockets of the poorest of patients. It mostly takes place outside the courts and the public eye. A law originally written to help state and local governments collect debts is being used to seize tax refunds from people with past-due medical bills. The S.C. Department of Revenue does the legwork, and the cash flows straight into the coffers of some of the region’s largest health care companies. The payoff is huge. Together, health organizations took at least $92.9 million in more...

“Now it was the Sabbath on that day. So the Jews were saying to the man who was cured, ‘It is the Sabbath, and it is not permissible for you to carry your pallet.’ But he answered them, ‘He who made me well was the one who said to me, “Pick up your pallet and walk.”’ They asked him, ‘Who is the man who said to you, “Pick up your pallet and walk”?’ But the man who was healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had slipped away while there was a crowd in that place” (John 5:9–13)....

A sense of urgency has taken hold of higher education leaders nationwide. Reports of declining community college graduation rates and the lack of skilled workers have led policymakers and college leaders to sound the alarm and vow to do whatever it takes to lower the high rate of “dropouts” and equip students to meet the labor demands of an evolving economy. For example, in a policy brief about non-completing students written for myFutureNC (an organization focused on educational attainment), Anita Brown-Graham and Catherine Moga Bryant describe the “high numbers of non-completers in North Carolina” and argue that “while many enroll,...

If we wanted to, we could make a career out of exposing the Washington establishment media for being nothing more than outright propagandists for the Garbage Party and the anti-American Left. As noted earlier this morning, we pointed out that these people are still pretending like President Trump begged China to investigate Joe Biden and his corrupt coke-snorting son, Hunter, over a sweetheart business deal with a state-owned bank. The president did no such thing, nor did he beg Ukraine to investigate the Bidens ‘or else’ he’d withhold military aid to that country. Both allegations are complete fabrications of what...

[The coming site does not earn anything from ads or clickthroughs. It is purely informational, and message-based. I am unable to reproduce herein its photos and effects, so a clickthrough may be indicated.] ARTICLE: Like one of Captain Kirk’s nemeses, “The Doomsday Machine” — which was a mindless bio-mechanical robot — today’s New Socialist Democrat Party, appears to seek total destruction and consumption of America. Its bits and slivers. Every “normal” person apparently already knows this. I won’t hammer details. I’m here to point out that Captain James T. Kirk is not an exception. Kirk is a born conservative. And...

Harold Bloom, the prodigious literary critic who championed and defended the Western canon in an outpouring of influential books that appeared not only on college syllabuses but also — unusual for an academic — on best-seller lists, died on Monday at a hospital in New Haven. He was 89. His death was confirmed by his wife, Jeanne Bloom, who said he taught his last class at Yale University on Thursday.

A British pedophile who sexually abused nearly 200 Malaysian babies and children before he was given 22 life sentences three years ago was killed in prison Sunday, authorities said. Richard Huckle, 33, was fatally stabbed with a makeshift knife at Full Sutton Prison in York, England, according to multiple local news outlets. The U.K. Ministry of Justice confirmed his death in a statement, but wouldn’t say how he died because an investigation is underway. The freelance photographer and former schoolteacher used his position to gain access to numerous vulnerable children during trips to Malaysia. He was arrested in 2014 after investigators found 20,000...

Donald Trump, an ongoing eruption of self-refuting statements (“I’m a very stable genius” with “a very good brain”), is adding self-impeachment to his repertoire. Spiraling downward in a tightening gyre, his increasingly unhinged public performances (Google the one with Finland’s dumbfounded president looking on) are as alarming as they are embarrassing. His decision regarding Syria and the Kurds was made so flippantly that it has stirred faint flickers of thinking among Congress’ vegetative Republicans.

On Friday’s episode of “The View,” Sen. Rand Paul sparred with Ana Navarro, a regular contributor to the show, about the nature of socialism in Venezuela. “You talk about Venezuela in your new book,” Navarro said, “I get a lot of political ads from the Republican Party. Donald Trump has tweeted this. Many have tweeted this. If you vote for Democrats, they will turn the United States into Venezuela. Do you think that’s a fair statement to make?”

On Sunday, a class was held in Robbinsdale called "Black Boys With Guns." It's a class aimed at breaking social stigma. The course was created to give youth the opportunity to practice their firearm skills while also discussing gun-involved trauma that may have happened to them or someone they love. It's the second time organizers with "Strong Arm Protection" have lead a program of this kind. The team behind this program believes that educating young black youth will help curb gun violence in the greater Minnesota Community. This month, more than a dozen minority boys between 12-19 years old went...
