BIARRITZ, France — Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif made a surprise visit to the city hosting the Group of Seven summit Sunday, a move that caught President Trump off-guard and added another element of tension to the meeting of world economic leaders. Zarif's arrival in Biarritz appeared to be a covert initiative by French President Emmanuel Macron, a senior European official said, and other leaders were not informed ahead of time. There was no immediate plan for the Iranian foreign minister to meet anyone other than French officials, officials said.

There is an interesting line in the 1619 Project that many would have perhaps glossed over because they have heard it so many times. It is this: The United States is a nation founded on both an ideal and a lie. Our Declaration of Independence, approved on July 4, 1776, proclaims that "all men are created equal" and "endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights." But the white men who drafted those words did not believe them to be true for the hundreds of thousands of black people in their midst. No, no, don't gloss past this. Stop right...

Renowned Yale computer scientist David Gelernter claims that he is abandoning Charles Darwin’s theory of evolution. Gelernter, who formerly served as a fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, published a column earlier this year detailing his move away from evolutionary theory. The column, which was titled “Giving Up Darwin,” provides Gelernter’s arguments against Darwinism. Darwin’s theory predicts that new life forms evolve gradually from old ones in a constantly branching, spreading tree of life. Those brave new Cambrian creatures must therefore have had Precambrian predecessors, similar but not quite as fancy and sophisticated. They could not have all blown out...

Work crews in Arizona and New Mexico forged ahead Friday with construction of taller border fencing funded through a national emergency declaration by President Trump. The work on his hallmark campaign promise involves mostly replacement fencing along a 46-mile stretch of desert west of Santa Teresa, New Mexico, and on 2 miles of Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona (the first of the 63 miles contracted there with DoD money)... Workers broke ground between Columbus and Santa Teresa — small towns near ports of entry along the border between New Mexico and the state of Chihuahua, Mexico. In Arizona,...

The parts — sights, stocks, muzzles, buffer kits and grips — arrived in three shipments and had a combined value of more than $378,000... The parts arrived over a period of three months and were bound for a legitimate US-based gun parts seller and distributor... Islamic State jihadi asks to be freed so he can keep other Muslims from “making the same mistake that I did” AUG 24, 2019 4:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER “I accidentally joined a mafia in Iraq and Syria, maybe not a mafia, but a very bad group of people, thinking they are Muslims. If I had learned Islam properly, If I had understood I would have learned that these were a very bad group of people. I wouldn’t have been in the situation that I’m in.” This kind of talk is music to the ears of Western leaders, but once...

[Catholic Caucus] The Papacy in Jesuitical Captivity: Archbishop Viganò and the “60-Year-Old Plan” Editor’s Introduction: One year ago today (Aug. 25, 2018), Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò, former apostolic nuncio to the United States (2011-2016), made history by publishing his explosive testimony concerning ex-Cardinal Theodore McCarrick’s decades of homosexual predation and abuse, indicting over a dozen high-ranking prelates – including Pope Francis himself – as being guilty of covering up McCarrick’s notorious sexual deviancy. Archbishop Viganò referred to such prelates in his 11-page testimony as belonging to “the homosexual current in favor of subverting Catholic doctrine on homosexuality,” describing “[t]hese homosexual...

Virginia: Imam prays that Allah would “grant victory to his servants, the mujahideen, wherever they are” AUG 25, 2019 11:00 AM BY ROBERT SPENCER All the regimes against which the imam Shaker Elsayed rails are non-Sharia regimes. And when he asks Allah to grant victory to the mujahideen, he doesn’t have an interior spiritual struggle in mind, as is made clear when he says: “The door to freedom is stained red with the blood of all the hands that have knocked on it.” “Fairfax, VA Imam Shaker Elsayed: Arab Regimes Collaborate with Israel; We Must Remove Arab Governments by Any...

When CNN's Brian Stelter isn't worrying about whether or not Sean Spicer's foxtrot around ABC's dancefloor will cause lasting damage to America's social fabric, he's bringing guests on 'Reliable Sources' to sound off cockamamie psychological theories around President Donald J. Germany: Muslim migrants insult woman, start brawl because they thought her skirt was too short AUG 24, 2019 1:00 PM BY ROBERT SPENCER The principle is always and everywhere the same: in Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Islamic sensibilities. And in non-Muslim countries, one must conform one’s behavior to suit Islamic sensibilities. “Brawl in Duisburg because a woman’s skirt was too short,” translated from “Schlägerei in Duisburg, weil Rock einer Frau zu kurz war,” by Sinan Sat, Waz, August 22, 2019 (thanks to Searchlight Germany): Duisburg. “Cultural differences” were the trigger for a brawl in the...

Liberal Reaction to Death of Koch Prominent liberals exploded in vicious joy at the news that Koch had died. Perhaps the worst reaction was Bill Maher, who said, "F‑‑‑ him...I'm glad he's dead, and I hope the end was painful." An outlier? Hardly. His audience roared its approval. Bette Midler got in on the act, wishing his brother were also dead. She echoed Maher's profanity-bomb language and directed it at Kay Cole James, the black American leader of the Heritage Foundation, showing once again that no insult directed toward a minority is too vile when it comes from a liberal....

Former Obama CIA Director and current MSNBC contributor John Brennan is believed by some to be the architect of the Russia-Collusion sham. He now claims he doesn’t know much about the topic! John Brennan is said to be the mastermind of the coup to remove President Trump from office. Much of this sham started with the still unproven conspiracy that Hillary Clinton’s emails were stolen by Russia. Once the emails were stolen, they were supposedly used by Russia to damage the US election and Hillary Clinton. For example, we first hear of “dirt on Hillary” meaning Hillary’s leaked emails in...
