I think I really do love all of these dunces we laughingly refer to as celebrities. The latest "absolutely awesome talent" that's in quotes, is this Sarah Silverman person. Apparently she did a sketch in black face 12 years ago and now she's being called out for her mortal sin against mankind. It really is heartening to see the very leftists that she is supposedly in league with turn on her and then rip her to shreds. More fun than the Roman coliseum at its height of glory. So many, many other stars have been so-called "called out" for past...

The crisis in Hong Kong appears to be careening towards a devastating climax. With China’s government now using rhetoric reminiscent of what preceded the Tiananmen Square massacre in June 1989, Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protesters – and, indeed, its democracy – could well be in grave danger. For more than two months, Hong Kong has been beset by protests. Triggered by a proposed law to allow the extradition of criminal suspects to mainland China, the demonstrations have since developed into broader calls to safeguard – or, perhaps more accurately, restore – the semi-autonomous territory’s democracy, including by strengthening state (especially police)...

Whoever came up with the phrase “useful idiots†— it’s often credited to Lenin, but there’s no evidence he ever said it — was on to something. There are times when dangerous political movements derive important support from people who will, if these movements achieve and hold power, be among their biggest victims. Certainly I found myself thinking of the phrase when I read about the Trump fund-raiser held at the Hamptons home of Stephen Ross, chairman of a company that holds controlling stakes in Equinox and SoulCycle. Most reporting on the Ross event has focused on the possible adverse effects on his business empire:...

Among the many consequences of Donald Trump’s ascendancy in modern American politics is a renewed and deepened hostility for the press, not only among his far-right base, but within the general electorate. In recent decades, trust in media has plummeted from a high of 72% who had a great deal or fair amount of trust in 1976, thanks in large part to Watergate coverage, down to a historic low of 32% in 2016. Trust has ticked back up to 45% in 2018 and, among Democrats, is actually the highest it’s been in 20 years. You might not know it to...

I pray that God will give me His words and that through His words we...
