It may be that the best book that will ever be written about today’s progressive mind-set was published in 1941. That in The Red Decade author Eugene Lyons was, in fact, describing the Communist-dominated American Left of the Depression-wracked 1930s and 1940s makes his observations even more meaningful, for it is sobering to be confronted with how little has been gained by hard experience. The celebration of feelings over reason? The certainty of moral virtue? The disdain for tradition and the revising of history for ideological ends? The embrace of the latest definition of correct thought? Lyons was one of...

SEOUL, South Korea – President Donald Trump sent North Korean leader Kim Jong Un an "excellent" letter, the North's state-run news agency reported Sunday, quoting Kim as saying he would "seriously contemplate it." The White House declined to confirm that Trump had sent a letter to Kim. It comes as nuclear talks between the U.S. and North Korea broke down after the failed summit between Kim and Trump in February in Vietnam....

"We cannot provide a space that is inclusive of all and also allow support for open white supremacy. Support of the Trump administration is undeniably support for white supremacy." Ravelry, a community website for knitters, crocheters, and other textile fans, has banned all content supporting President Trump and his administration in what it described as a stand against white supremacy. In a statement posted to their website, the administrators wrote that posts, projects, patterns, and profiles supporting the president are no longer allowed. The site is the most popular online forum for knitting fans and counts millions of users, as...

Think of all the things a microphone can pick up: voices, noises, whispers, conversations, arguments, confessions – even people alone, in a room, mumbling to themselves. Think of all the things you say in a private space, all the weird things you do. Once those sounds have been saved, that data can be stored, edited, and manipulated and shared. Now, think of all the things a camera can see, record, save, and share with who knows who. Speaking of, if you're in a vacation rental, there's no guarantee hidden cameras are not in play. Smart devices can work miracles, obeying...

U.S. National Security Advisor John Bolton on Sunday defended President Trump's move to order, then cancel a strike on Iran. "Neither Iran nor any other hostile actor should mistake U.S. prudence and discretion for weakness," Bolton said. "No one has granted them a hunting license in the Middle East." He spoke in Jerusalem alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Bolton said he is in the Middle East for previously scheduled meetings with Israeli and Russian security advisors. And he warned Iran that the U.S. remains a formidable adversary. "Our military is rebuilt, new and ready to go," Bolton said....

‘White privilege’ survey posted in mostly minority school in Manhattan The “three Rs” at this school are reading, ‘riting and resentment. A survey on “white privilege” was posted in a Manhattan school with virtually no white students — raising questions about what, besides stirred-up outrage, is being taught. The two-page “White Privilege Exercise” was spotted earlier this month inside the Life Sciences Secondary School amid the ongoing controversy over Schools Chancellor Richard Carranza’s racial-diversity initiatives. City Councilman Joseph Borelli (R-Staten Island) said a city worker last week sent him photos of the questionnaire stapled to a hallway bulletin board near...

As he sensed the crowd flagging, Donald Trump switched gears to the all-important question of his re-election slogan. Should the insurgent turned incumbent stick with “Make America great again” (Maga), which he characterised as “probably and possibly the greatest theme in the history of politics”? Or should he switch to “Keep America great”? It was the latter that that turned the stadium into a cauldron of noise. “Ah, I’m sorry, Maga Country, but that wasn’t too close,” the president said on Tuesday night. “I thought you had it won, and then I heard this cheer. My eardrums will never been...

FULL TITLE: Iran likely at 'inflection point,' launching attacks to change 'status quo,' Defense Intelligence Agency director tells Fox News EXCLUSIVE – Iran is likely at "an inflection point," and the recent attacks on tankers and the downing of a U.S. surveillance drone appear to be part of an effort to change "the status quo," the director of the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) told Fox News exclusively. "I'd say that they're probably at an inflection point right now," the director, Lt. Gen. Robert Ashley Jr., explained in his first national TV interview as the leader of the nearly 17-thousand strong...

Prime Minister Scott Morrison was right: his shock election win last month was a “miracle”. See how it’s already changed our culture. Start with the most obvious example. Before the election, ABC managing director David Anderson claimed not to see that our national broadcaster had been hijacked by the Left: “I don’t see any evidence to say we’re biased.” But with the Coalition government re-elected, a miracle! The ABC boss’s vision was healed. Now he admits: “The perspective of views that we represent is something that we could improve on.” Others in our intelligentsia have also had their vision miraculously...

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded to President Donald Trump’s decision to delay the deportations of a few hundred recent illegal migrants by asking for a nationwide amnesty for millions of migrants living in the United States. “Mr. President, delay is welcome,” she tweeted, adding, “Time is needed for comprehensive immigration reform.” In recent weeks, Democrats have been stepping up their calls for “comprehensive immigration reform,” usually by praising the 2013 “Gang of Eight” amnesty and cheap-labor bill. Democrat’s use of “comprehensive immigration reform” is shorthand for a political deal that would promise better border security for Americans in exchange for...

Michigan Republican Party officials were disappointed to find “F*** ICE” written on the side of their headquarters in Lansing this weekend. Party officials discovered the graffiti Saturday evening and reported the incident to police, said Michigan Republican Party Communications Director Tony Zammit. Cameras captured a person vandalizing the building in the early hours between Friday night and Saturday morning, but Zammit said police can’t identify a suspect based on the footage alone. Police are seeking additional information from the public, he said. Zammit said the vandalism is considered to be an attack on MIGOP Chair Laura Cox, who is a...

A town hall featuring South Bend, Ind., Mayor Pete Buttigieg devolved into chaos Sunday as the city struggled to respond to a deadly police-involved shooting last week. In his opening remarks, the 37-year-old Buttigieg, a Democrat and candidate for president, said he would send a letter to the Justice Department requesting that its civil rights division look into the June 16 shooting of 54-year-old Eric Logan, who was black. The mayor added that he would notify the local prosecutor that he'd like an independent investigator appointed.

Earlier this month, a jury awarded Gibson’s Bakery $11 million following a month-long trial stemming from the bakery’s lawsuit against Oberlin College and Vice President and Dean of Students Meredith Raimondo. Then, last Thursday, it added $33 million in punitive damages. This stunning decision — which strikes a serious blow against free speech on college campuses across the country — has garnered significant attention in major media outlets such as CNN and The New York Times, as well as on social media and various personal blogs. The tension between the College and Gibson’s began in November 2016, when three Black...

Maybe if he'd been born a boomer or a millennial, and grown up with the generational message that you can be whatever you want to be and things will work out, Zack Bauders, 21, would've given more thought to making a living as a professional photographer, like his father. He's certainly got the talent. His work includes a great action shot he snapped of former Navy quarterback Keenan Reynold, mid-stride, his arm cocked for the throw. He also took a moody picture of a nighttime meteor shower over a mountain and a stream, and contributed regularly to local magazines in his...

Today is June 23, 2019, making it the 30th anniversary of Tim Burton’s Batman. [snip] Looking back at its success, I maintain that Batman, not Star Wars (and certainly not Jaws), is the movie most responsible for the current Hollywood blockbuster. [snip] First, somewhat obviously, it showed Hollywood that they could make a film, a non-sequel film no-less, that could be a presumed guaranteed moneymaker by virtue of its source material. Sure, it wasn’t the first Hollywood blockbuster whose popularity partially stemmed from a book or a play. Think Gone with the Wind, Ben-Hur, The Godfather or Jaws. But Batman’s...
