Ask a Republican elected official in Utah if they're endorsing a second term for the sitting president of their own party and the answer should be obvious, shouldn't it? Apparently not if the president running for re-election is Donald Trump. Sen. Mitt Romney, R-Utah, answered that question from CNN's Jake Tapper recently by joking he wasn't ready to say yet if he's going to write in the name of his wife, Ann, in the 2020 presidential election, as he did in 2016.

60-year-old had suffered an ascending aortic dissection, a potentially fatal rupture in the inner wall of the major artery that pumps blood away from the heart to the rest of the body. As a result, he quickly needed surgery to repair the tear. But the man’s underlying lung problems, particularly his chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), would complicate the procedure in an unexpected way. In order to reach his heart, the doctors had to crack open his sternum—the bone smack in the middle of our chest. But the man’s right lung was stuck to the sternum, with bits of damaged...

RUSH: More on the California Democrat convention and the booing of John Hickenlooper. The former governor of Colorado gets booed off the stage, practically, for simply saying heading in the direction of socialism is not… Not “heading in the direction.” Socialism is not the answer. The people in California didn’t want to hear that. California’s Democrats… California, politically, is a socialist state now — and I say that in the meaning of the term ideologically. Of course, that encompasses attitudinal and behavioral and everything else. From all intents and purposes, California is a socialist state. So let’s examine just some...

MSNBC's "The Rachel Maddow Show" has been hit with a serious one-two punch. One day after finishing May with its worst ratings since Donald Trump took office, the lefty pundit's eponymous program faced a Vanity Fair bombshell report that the New York Times didn’t want its reporters appearing on Maddow's show, not because her ratings were down, but because she was too far left, even for them. The New York Times had reportedly blocked its reporters from appearing on “Maddow” because the program is too partisan, with one insider from the Grey Lady's newsroom agreeing, telling Fox News “it rubs...

Over the weekend, another ranking Democrat, Rep. James Clyburn of South Carolina, appeared to placate the Donkey Party’s increasingly radicalized and Marxist base by intimating POTUS Donald Trump likely will be impeached by the House “at some point.” The Hill reported: When Tapper asked Clyburn if he thought Democrats would launch impeachment proceedings against Trump, he said “yes, that’s exactly what I feel.” “What Nancy Pelosi is trying to do, and the rest of us in the House of Representatives, is developing a process to efficiently move on this issue so when we get to the vote, something she calls...

RUSH: It was just last week I went through the process again of explaining how the left and how the media do not understand Donald Trump and do not make one slight effort, not the slightest effort to understand him. They persist in purposely misunderstanding and misrepresenting Donald Trump. And we’re just lucky that we have somebody in the face of all this who fires back. You know what I saw? Do you know what Trump’s approval numbers are in the U.K., which is where he is right now? It’s been kind of funny to watch these videos of Trump...

One of the more unfortunate effects of the Trump-Russia investigation — and there have been many — is the weakening of traditional standards of argument and proof in the public debate over allegations that the Trump campaign conspired with Russia to fix the 2016 election. (Just for the record: It didn't.) In particular, angry disputes about the president have done terrible harm to the principle that an investigator, be it a journalist or a prosecutor, should meet at least some standard of proof before leveling an accusation. Two examples. First is the so-called Steele dossier, the collection of wild allegations...

A copy of the final, 1,200-page report — and its 231 "calls for justice" — is available here.

South Carolina Methodists convening in Greenville for their five-day annual conference will consider petitions aimed at settling a rift within the United Methodist Church over whether to allow same-sex marriage and gay clergy. In February, the rule-making body of the Church affirmed and strengthened the denomination’s bans on “self-avowed practicing” gay clergy and same-sex marriage. Just more than half of the church’s 822 global delegates voted to uphold the bans, ending a special conference in a seemingly irreconcilable split. That decision came about after an alternative plan was narrowly shot down at the global conference that would have allowed local...
