Fungus that draws gold from its surroundings has been discovered in Western Australia, stunning scientists who say it could signal new deposits. Found near Boddington, south of Perth, the strain of the Fusarium oxysporum fungus attaches gold to its strands by dissolving and precipitating particles from the environment. There may be a biological advantage in doing so, as the gold-coated fungus was found to grow larger and spread faster than those that don’t interact with the precious metal. “Fungi are well-known for playing an essential role in the degradation and recycling of organic material, such as leaves and bark, as...

This being Memorial Day, I was real proud of myself because the first thing I thought to do when I got up out of bed was to put up the flag in front of my house. Then I got online went to Twitter, and the first thing I saw was a thread by Texas Congressman Dan Crenshaw, himself a Navy SEAL and veteran of three deployments to Afghanistan, remembering his fellow SEALs who did not make the trip home. I was going to write something myself this morning, but after seeing this I figure you donÂ’t really need anything from...

Time Magazine columnist Ian Bremmer on Sunday tweeted a quote from President Donald Trump about North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un that quickly went viral — but it wasn’t real. “President Trump in Tokyo: ‘Kim Jong Un is smarter and would make a better President than Sleepy Joe Biden.'” Bremmer wrote on Twitter. While Trump did praise the North Korean dictator’s insult of former Vice President Joe Biden, the president never said what Bremmer quoted him saying — because Bremmer made it up. -- Please see link for full article. Wow. Time Magazine actually PAYS someone to do this.

TOKYO — President Donald Trump said Monday that he is not "personally" bothered by recent short-range missile tests that North Korea conducted this month, breaking with Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is hosting the president on four-day state visit full of pageantry. Standing beside Trump at a news conference after hours of talks, Abe disagreed with the U.S. president, saying the missile tests violated U.S. Security Council resolutions and were "of great regret." Abe, who has forged a strong friendship with Trump and agrees with him on many issues, is concerned because the short-range missiles pose a threat to...

"Never in the field of human conflict was so much owed by so many to so few." —Winston Churchill As we do on this day each year, we pause to remember the men and women who died fighting for our freedom. We stand by humbly, gratefully, silently, to honor their sacrifice. We remember…We mourn for those lost…And we mourn for those they’ve left behind…As we reflect once again on the the steep price of freedom.By all means, enjoy your picnics, parades and celebrations today – it is a holiday after all. But do pause to remember and honor all the...

Democrats are failing the Barr exam. While Bill Barr grapples with the cerebral acrobatics of time-tested law, Democrats clown around in the political circus. Barr functions in the real world. Dems live in partisan bubbles that float inside fragile anti-Trump echo chambers. The two worlds are clashing. When the House Judiciary Committee voted to hold Barr in contempt of Congress and threatened to do the same to former White House Counsel Donald McGahn after his no-show on Tuesday, they screamed to the world that they’re not serious people. Barr is dead serious. And he smells a rat.“I’ve been trying to get...

President Donald Trump on Thursday granted Attorney General William Barr the authority to declassify information relevant to the investigation into how spying on the Trump campaign started in 2016. Former CIA Director John Brennan appeared on MSNBC's "All in with Chris Hayes" to discuss the decision. According to Brennan, Barr investigating the origins of the Russia probe is "outrageous." "How big a deal do you read the portion of the executive order last night that appears to give [Attorney General William] Barr the unilateral authority to declassify?" Hayes asked. "Well, I see it as a very, very serious and outrageous...

You can find this little fun word game, to combat early dementia and senility in us baby boomers, in several daily publications. The way it works is a letter stands for another letter. For example: AXYDLBAAXR is LONGFELLOW (does not apply to today's cryptogram). Beware, the game is very addictive. If this is...

A crusty old Army Sergeant Major found himself at a gala event hosted by a local liberal arts college. There was no shortage of extremely young idealistic ladies in attendance, one of whom approached the Sergeant Major for conversation. "Excuse me, Sergeant Major, but you seem to be a very serious man. Is something bothering you?" "Negative, ma'am. Just serious by nature." The young lady looked at his awards and decorations and said, "It looks like you have seen a lot of action" "Yes, ma'am, a lot of action." The young lady, tiring of trying to start up a conversation,...

Former Republican Congressman Steve Stockman is fighting back against The Swamp. He was targeted by powerful Democrats and wrongly convicted of misusing nonprofit funds. Corrupt, left-leaning prosecutors in the Department of Justice went after him because he called for the arrest of the IRS’s Lois Lerner, was the first to expose Obama’s ransom payment for Bowe Bergdahl, and aggressively rooted out corruption under both Bill Clinton’s and Barack Obama’s presidencies. He made the Drudge Report during his most recent term in office more than any other House member. The reality is, Stockman complied with very complex, technical laws — but...

Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden has attempted a bipartisan message, pledging to bridge the deep divide in the country and reject the anger that he says is motivating some in his party. He asserted: "If the American people want a president to add to our division, to lead with a clenched fist, closed hand and a hard heart, to demonize the opponents and spew hatred -- they don't need me. They already have a president who does just that." He realizes that many special interest Democrats don't like his "centrist" approach: "Some say Democrats don't want to hear about unity....

Among the many stories of encounters between different cultures, the meeting of Zoroastrianism and Islam may be one of the most dramatic. After many centuries in which it was the dominant religion of the ancient Iranian states and after having achieved the status of official religion in the Sassanid Empire (224-651 AD), Zoroastrian teaching was practically driven from its homeland and replaced by the religion of Muhammad. The number of Zoroastrians in modern Iran today does not exceed forty thousand..... and total number worldwide is reckoned to be less than 120,000. It is difficult to describe the fate of Zoroastrianism...

"Visitors ran for cover. News media piled into vehicles together. The streets flooded. Trees as old as the cemetery itself broke at the trunk and came crashing down. But America's Regiment endured," the Third U.S. Infantry Regiment posted on Facebook, with photos. .. The Third Regiment, or Old Guard, plants flags at Arlington National Cemetery on the Thursday before the holiday as part of a tradition called "flags in." President Trump participated Thursday in placing flags at headstones before departing on a flight for a four-day visit to Japan. On Saturday, the U.S. Army tweeted out the photo of the...

Iraq offered to mediate in the crisis between its two key allies, the United States and Iran, amid escalating Middle East tensions and as Tehran's nuclear deal with world powers steadily unravels. Iraqi foreign minister, Mohammed al-Hakim, made the offer Sunday during a joint news conference in Baghdad with visiting Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif. "We are trying to help and to be mediators," said al-Hakim, adding that Baghdad "will work to reach a satisfactory solution" while stressing that Iraq stands against unilateral steps taken by Washington.

George Orwell’s socialist tyrants worked hard to impose what he called “doublethink,†but today’s left can’t even manage singlethink. Our bloated, soft and lazy elite no longer bothers to try to fool us with consistent, coherent lies – it is too busy reacting to the actions of one solitary hero who knows how to play these blue city geeks like Keith Richards knows how to play a guitar, only with less Jack Daniels. Now that I have Nancy Pelosi’s attention…That hero is President Donald Trump, who I hope is president forever because watching him use his narrative jiu jitsu on...
