Congress plans to question about two dozen federal agencies on whether they were using backdoored Juniper network security appliances. In December, Juniper Networks said it had discovered unauthorized code added to ScreenOS, the operating system that runs on its NetScreen network firewalls. The rogue code, which remained undetected for two years or more, could have allowed remote attackers to gain administrative access to vulnerable devices or to decrypt VPN connections. The U.S. House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform wants to determine the impact that this issue had on government organizations and how those organizations responded to the incident. The...

A 1994 illegal immigrant has been picked by Google and Fox to deliver a question to the GOP 2016 candidates in Thursday's Iowa debate. The choice was likely intended to hit Donald Trump, whose proposed immigration reform is opposed by many company executives, including executives in Google and Fox. But any question on immigration will also hit the other GOP candidates, who are trying to balance the competing demands of business donors for more wage-cutting legal and illegal immigration, versus the voters' overwhelming demand for increased wages and salaries. The questioner, Dulce Candy, is a young, well-spoken, attractive and successful...

Is Trump already turning to the general election? Based on the CNN commentators all thinking it was a smart move, seems like Trump is going after independents and Democrats (union members and blacks who support him). CNN also bashing Fox for the personal attack (allegedly from Ailes). Fox is on all-out Trump war mode with Megyn and even Hannity piling on.

The occupation of a remote wildlife refuge turned violent yesterday when federal agents stopped two vehicles carrying protesters to a town hall meeting in John Day, Oregon. Victoria Sharp, a passenger in one of those vehicles, has reported that federal agents opened fire on the group without provocation after conflicting and confusing demands for the protesters to surrender. Sharp reported that shots were first fired at Ryan Payne as he complied with orders to show his hands out of the window of the vehicle in which she was riding, but that the shots missed. Payne was calling for police to...

HOUSTON, Texas - Today, the Cruz for President Campaign released an updated leadership team that reflects the consistent grassroots growth and strength that has been a hallmark of their efforts in Iowa and across the nation. The team, including 130 Iowa pastors, 12 state legislators, and 260 county chairs and co-chairs, encompasses a broad cross-section of the conservative movement in the state.“This campaign is about standing for principle and coalescing conservatives to work together to fight for our shared values,†said Cruz. “The grassroots army that has come together here in Iowa is being replicated all across the country. The members...

The Japanese lettuce production company Spread believes the farmers of the future will be robots. So much so that Spread is creating the world's first farm manned entirely by robots. Instead of relying on human farmers, the indoor Vegetable Factory will employ robots that can harvest 30,000 heads of lettuce every day. Don't expect a bunch of humanoid robots to roam the halls, however; the robots look more like conveyor belts with arms. They'll plant seeds, water plants, and trim lettuce heads after harvest in the Kyoto, Japan farm. "The use of machines and technology has been improving agriculture in...

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Wednesday once again criticized what he called Israel's "stifling occupation" of Palestinians, just one day after appearing to express sympathy for Palestinian Arab terrorists. The UN chief made clear that he would not retreat from his remarks directed at Israel a day earlier, AFP reported. UN diplomats said privately that Ban had upped the pressure on Prime MInister Binyamin Netanyahu in a final bid to revive hopes for peace before he steps down as secretary-general at the end of the year. "After nearly 50 years of occupation -- after decades of waiting for the fulfilment...

Average Subsidy Cost Increasing Because of how far enrollment was below initial projections, I wrote the following on November 19: “While the aggregate subsidy amount will go down, the average subsidy amount will likely increase because of higher than expected premiums and a higher percentage of the subsidized enrollees having lower income and thus qualifying for larger subsidies than CBO anticipated.†According to CBO, this will likely be the case in 2016.

"If you ever doubt that C. S. Lewis was gifted with a prophetic voice, you need look no further for correction than Prince Caspian. In the story, you may remember, Narnia is in a desperate situation. The Telmarines have taken over, and the citizens of Narnia have been persecuted, silenced, and driven into hiding. When Prince Caspian—a Telmarine himself, but one who sympathizes with the Narnian cause—joins forces with them, this leads to a fresh round of attacks from the other Telmarines and their king, Miraz. The Narnians try to summon help by using Queen Susan’s horn—and they are successful,...

Commemorates International Holocaust Remembrance DayHOUSTON, Texas - Today Presidential Candidate Ted Cruz released the following statement in honor of International Holocaust Remembrance Day."Today the world remembers the greatest atrocity in human history. The utter horror of the Holocaust must never be forgotten. We mourn for the millions of people who lost their lives and the families who lost their loved ones. And we honor the heroism of the Jewish people - and all those who were persecuted - their courage will always reverberate throughout the world."Just last week, it was reported that the Israeli citizen and Holocaust survivor Yisrael Kristal...

... Maybe Trump will hold that lead over the next few days, who knows? As a perpetual reminder, Rick Santorum trailed in Iowa by 15 points a week before he won the caucuses in 2012, so it's very smart to assume that things could change dramatically. But polling often does a poor job of predicting one of the most important aspects of what will happen on the night of the caucuses: Who will turn out and for whom. I've been on a bit of a kick to this effect for a few days now, but I can't reinforce it enough....

Nobody wants to take your guns. That's what most mainstream pro-gun control Democrats say ad nauseam at various rallies. There's also the "I support the Second Amendment, but…" that advocates of gun control say prior to offering some pie-in-the-sky policy proposals that usually venture into bans on so-called assault rifles, limiting magazine sizes, or an all-out ban on semi-automatic firearms. That's essentially a gun ban. Both Hillary Clinton and President Barack Obama have praised the Australian-model of gun control, which the National Rifle Association decided to explain at length in a recent video. It deals with gun buybacks, confiscation, and bans....

If anyone wonders why Donald Trump has been like Teflon throughout this election cycle, it's because he's a brilliant strategist when it comes to manipulating the media, his supporters, and even his detractors. Skipping the debate may turn out to be his coup de grâce against the competition. Donald Trump knows that whether or not he attends the Fox News Iowa debate, he’s probably going to lose the state. He knows this because he’s proven to be a master at campaign strategy, albeit an unconventional one. Most of us expected his early missteps to be indicators that he would fade...

U.S. Rep. Mark Meadows on Wednesday endorsed Ted Cruz for president, calling the Texas senator "the best-positioned leader to restore power to the people and uphold the Constitution." "We are approaching a historic election that has the potential to fundamentally change our nation as we know it. Ted Cruz is the principled, conservative leader we need in the White House," Meadows said in a news release. "On issue after issue, Cruz has told the truth and done what he said he was going to do. It may not make him a lot of friends in Washington, but it is exactly...
