The transcript of the 2017 State of the Union address, as delivered by President Donald Trump: Thank you. Thank you. I have to say, nice building, this Capitol. Nice room. But too old-fashioned, don't you think? I do this all the time. I acquire these rundown old properties, I buy them cheap, I bring in my decorators, we fix it up. More mirrors, more gold trim, a nice statue of me ... we'll have it looking beautiful. Come back next year, you'll be amazed. There's our new First Lady, Melania, up in the balcony. First supermodel in the White House....

There he is, look – sitting on a fridgeful of Italian ready meals. If he looks familiar, that's because he's the same dude who was spotted back in November, chilling next to some crisps. What a bloody life, eh?

Another nod from the left MoveOn, the progressive activist group who once received money from George Soros, has decided to endorse Bernie Sanders for the presidency, giving him yet another accolade from the left wing of the Democratic Party. Unlike some other political groups, MoveOn’s endorsement is decided by a vote of its members, with a 2/3 majority needed for the official nod to be given. MoveOn endorsed Howard Dean in 2004 and Barack Obama in 2008.

The New Year is here, and Planned Parenthood officials might be tempted to pop champagne corks and toast their accomplishments. After all, in some ways 2015 was a banner year for Planned Parenthood. It seemed to have weathered a series of videos showing its senior medical stuff speaking cavalierly and mendaciously about parceling out for sale the organs of late-term babies aborted in its clinics. It evaded a cut-off of non-discretionary dollars in the pre-Christmas omnibus bill adopted by the Republican Congress and shepherded by its new speaker of the House. It even issued a new annual report showing how...

A Tale of Two Shiftys' There is a bigger controversy about to break wide-open that's potentially far more significant than Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell approving Nikki Haley's non-subtle attack on GOP frontrunner Donald Trump. That bigger controversy is the Spanish version of the GOP State of the Union rebuttal containing an "amnesty pledge". As this is written, Governor Nikki Haley is trying to get out ahead of the building expose'. Haley just gave a DC press conference claiming she does not support "amnesty"; however, against her earlier admission of Speaker Ryan and Leader McConnell approving the script - the...

Ted Cruz said on Tuesday that Donald Trump “embodies New York values,†and that Trump’s constant attacks on him are a sign that the businessman is worried about his front-runner status in the race. Cruz made the comment on the Howie Carr Show, after the host asked him about Trump playing Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the USAâ€, a reference to the allegation, recently trumpeted by Trump, that Cruz may be ineligible to serve as president because he was born in Canada.

In late December, an unsigned piece posted on a popular Russian-language blog, headlined “Companions in the Fight,†caused a stir on the Russian Internet by shedding light on a largely unexamined facet of the Russian President Vladimir Putin’s background. While many analysts who try to understand and explain Putin’s worldview tend to focus on his KGB past, the “Companions†article suggests that Putin’s early exposure to the criminal underworld exerted considerable influence in shaping his way of thinking. Putin himself has mentioned how street gangs of his native city of Leningrad, now St. Petersburg, made a mark on his memory....

Speaker Paul Ryan invited the Little Sisters of the Poor to join him as his guests for the State of the Union. But that’s not the only way in which they’re getting a helping hand from Congress. The office of Rep. Diane Black (R-TN) issued a press release with a link to a bipartisan amicus brief signed by 207 members of Congress in support of the Little Sisters of the Poor. The amicus brief was sent to the Supreme Court in support of the Catholic group and other non-profit organizations in the upcoming case of Zubik vs. Burwell. Such groups...

Pro-abrotion presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, fresh from her endorsement from the Planned Parenthood abortion business, is continuing her campaign to push free abortions paid for at taxpayer expense. Clinton is on a campaign to overturn the Hyde Amendment, which has protected American taxpayers from funding abortions since the late 1970s and which has been upheld by the Supreme Court as constitutional. If the federal amendment is reversed, taxpayers will be on the hook for paying for abortions for poor women, who would become eligible for free abortions for any reason. “It is just hard to justify, because if we have...

'Just fed up w objectification of women in media' A sports writer and New York Times best-selling author named Jeff Pearlman was pushed into a quasi-apology after saying, via Twitter, Fox News female correspondents dressed as "hookers," per order of their bosses. He posted, alongside a photo of the female crew of Fox's well-watched "Outnumbered" this text: "Serious question: do women on Fox News get extra money for dressing as hookers? Just embarrassing." In another tweet, Pearlman wrote: "Just fed up w objectification of women in media. It's tired, old, widespread, not cool. #done." As Mediaite found, another named Steve...

That harrowing advice is from The Royal Bank of Scotland, which has warned of a "cataclysmic year" ahead for markets and advised clients to head for the exit. Do not wait. Do not pass go. "Sell everything except high quality bonds," warned Andrew Roberts in a note this week. He said the bank's red flags for 2016 -- falling oil, volatility in China, shrinking world trade, rising debt, weak corporate loans and deflation -- had all been seen in just the first week of trading. "We think investors should be afraid," he said.

It was for years the focus of the abortion wars in the South. The non-descript red brick building in Birmingham once housed the most notorious abortion business in Alabama. In a final post script to decades of pro-life efforts, it was razed to the ground the weekend by new owners who have other – better – plans for the property. Operated by the “Abortion Queen†Diane Derzis, New Woman All Women was a poorly-maintained abortion facility that became well known for shoddy practices and deceptive tactics that kept it operating well beyond its legal ability to do so. A coalition...

The state of Massachusetts offered diversified manufacturer General Electric Co $120 million in grants and other financial incentives to persuade it to move to Boston, with the city kicking in another $25 million in tax relief, officials said on Wednesday. City and state officials regard the move as the linchpin of an effort to redevelop the city's southern waterfront, which has transformed from acres of parking lots to a massive construction site with about a dozen office and apartment towers under construction. "In addition to adding hundreds of high-paying jobs to our state, we look forward to partnering with GE...
