Tinder shot to fame as a dating app for tech-savvy single people. Except, as it turns out, a big chunk of its users may not be single after all. That’s according to research firm GlobalWebIndex (GWI), which released some figures on Tinder from its latest survey of more than 47,000 internet users around the world that suggest the app has a wider demographic. In fact, the research claims that 30% of Tinder users surveyed are married, while another 12% are in a relationship. 54% classed themselves as single, while 3% were divorced or widowed.

NOTE TO ADMIN MOD: this is not a commercial solicitation. I have no expectations of selling the item for $37,500. The point is to expose the story. After three false FEC returns, the FEC gave Hillary an immunity agreement and ordered her to file a fourth report. She filed a fourth false report and the crime thus continues. FREEPERS --- please ask questions on the item and allow me to tell the story and further skewer her. I hope this story can make the news. Computer scientists from the University of Warwick are using Twitter to predict the outcome of the UK general election and believe their forecasts could be more accurate than traditional opinion polls. They are working in collaboration with partners in the Department of Journalism at City University London and the Information Technologies Institute (ITI-CERTH, Greece). Together, the team is using an algorithm that harvests political tweets, aggregates various features about every party and then injects this information into conventional polling reports, producing a daily prediction of voting share. With the outcome of the general election in terms of seats more uncertain...

Al Madrigal appeared on Jon Stewart’s satirical Daily Show Wednesday as the “Senior Latino Correspondent,” where he performed a takedown of the leading presidential candidates’ attempts to court Hispanic voters. He called Hillary Clinton’s recent immigration promises “pandering,” and implied that they were an empty echo of Obama’s similar promises in 2008. The scene culminated with a comedic reveal of “El Jebe,” -- A.K.A. former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush -- whose Mexican-American wife, professed love for guacamole and Spanish speaking abilities make him Madrigal’s “Hispanic” candidate. "Most candidates are scrambling to go after Latinos now, but Jeb Bush started his...

Evgeny Buzhinsky has spent much of his professional life with the threat of global nuclear destruction hanging over his head. A lifelong Russian military officer, he earned his PhD in military sciences in 1982, just as the Cold War was entering its most dangerous period, and served in the Soviet general staff during an arms race that several times came perilously close to triggering a nuclear war that neither side wanted. What follows is a partial transcript of our conversation, edited and condensed for clarity.
  • British Election: Implications for Ireland of Tory win less than salubrious

...The prospect of an in-out EU referendum driven by David Cameron's desperate attempts to keep the Conservatives together on Europe while fending off the threat from the UKIP [insert laughter here -- 'Civ] right is a nightmare scenario for the Irish government. Dublin often takes comfort from hiding behind Britannia's skirts in Brussels when the British take all the flak for opposing tax and other financial harmonisations in a belligerent stance that also benefits Ireland. With Nick Clegg trading away yet another of the Lib Dems principles and doing a U-turn on his previous opposition to a referendum, if Cameron...

A Virginia Beach man was arrested within an hour after he allegedly robbed the Townebank at 297 Constitution Drive Monday afternoon. And in the 20 minutes it took for police to find him, he was able to post some incriminating evidence to his Instagram account. Dominyk Antonio Alfonseca, 23, walked into the bank approximately 1:40 p.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money, according to police. He then ran south toward Main Street. About 20 minutes later, at approximately 2:02 p.m., officers in the area of Kellam Road and Columbus Street located Alfonseca and took him into custody. Two...

Let's be honest with ourselves for a second: This is Hillary Clinton's election to lose.On Nov. 8, 2016, Clinton will start — start — with a minimum 247 of the 270 electoral votes she needs to win. If you give her Colorado and Virginia — which many political strategists would, given the Hispanic population in one and the rising influence of the northern-centered population in the other — she'll start with 269. That means Clinton doesn't need Ohio or Florida. She just needs one small state like Iowa, Nevada or New Hampshire to put her over the edge. And because...

Hillary Clinton, just three weeks after blasting "unaccountable money" and calling for a campaign finance overhaul, reportedly met with potential donors to a super PAC backing her White House campaign Wednesday -- the first such face-to-face meetings held by a Democratic presidential candidate. The Wall Street Journal reported that Clinton met with a small group of potential donors to Priorities USA Action Wednesday in San Francisco. Campaign officials told the paper that she will take part in more such meetings, including one planned to take place in Los Angeles on Thursday. SNIP Jeff Bechdel, spokesman for the conservative America Rising...

It's interesting and important to note that former Fed Chairman Alan Greenspan's comment about a stock market potentially built upon "irrational exuberance" did not coincide with a drop in the markets. In fact, it took years before the truly irrational stock market, built upon the emerging web technology world, fell apart. But comments this week by the current Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen that equity "are quite high" reminded many of a more muted version of Greenspan's observations years earlier. In the case of Greenspan, his comments were more speculative and were rooted in the theoretical of what could happen...

University of Rhode Island campus police will start carrying guns Friday, making it the final public university in the nation to arm its officers. The move to arm police came after a false alarm in 2013, when some students in a lecture hall thought they heard someone say they had a gun, setting off a panic on URI’s bucolic campus in South Kingstown. While campus police arrived at the scene in less than a minute, it took about five minutes for armed police from South Kingstown to arrive. No gun was ever found. […] A student government survey of URI...

One hundred and fifty House Democrats have now signed a letter expressing strong support for President Obama’s ongoing negotiations with Iran over its nuclear program, I’ve learned, improving the chances that an eventual nuclear deal could survive the Congressional oversight process. The 150 Democratic signatories — which include Dem leaders like Nancy Pelosi and Chris Van Hollen — are significant. Here’s why: If a deal is reached that looks like the recently-announced framework, and the GOP-controlled Congress votes to disapprove of it, it’s now more likely that there will be enough House Democrats to sustain Obama’s veto of that disapproval...

According to a CNN news report, the FBI sent a bulletin to Garland police three hours before a terrorist attack on Pamela Geller's "draw Muhammad" cartoon event. The FBI's warning included a picture of Elton Simpson, one of the suspects who was killed, as well as his license plate number. Police were told that Simpson had expressed interest in the event and that his social media posts were linked to ISIS. According to CNN's Evan Perez, the FBI stated that it had no indication that Simpson was planning an attack or that he was on his way to the...

The Baltimore police investigation into the death of a black man from injuries sustained in police custody fails to support some charges filed by the city prosecutor, CNN reported on Thursday. Citing officials briefed on the separate probes by prosecutor Marilyn Mosby and police into the death of Freddie Gray, the television news network said the lack of support for charges from the police findings could allow lawyers representing the officers to undercut the prosecution. Gray, 25, sustained spinal injuries after being arrested, and his death on April 19 sparked protests and a day of arson and looting in the...

A man suspected of vandalizing the St. Cloud Islamic Center had regularly attended prayer services there, St. Cloud Police said. The incident was reported at 4:48 a.m. Thursday on the 300 block of Fifth Avenue South in St. Cloud. It happened while prayer services were taking place inside. The front door window of the Islamic Center and a window of a nearby car were broken, police said. Witnesses chased a man and detained him for police. Officers determined that the windows had been broken with a basketball-sized plaster ball that is artwork. The suspect made the piece and obtained it...

Liberals have been the biggest losers in the Baltimore Blame Game. For a week they've been saying a lot of stupid things about the cause of the riots in Baltimore. -- They said the wild night of rioting, looting and burning by young black men was caused by Freddie Gray's death, which was supposedly yet another example of our country's racist policing methods even though three of the six cops indicted were black. -- They said the rioting in Baltimore was caused by the inner-city's bad economy or the shortage of jobs that'll pay high school dropouts with no...

You know one thing that’s great about the Apple Watch? People often don’t realize it’s a smartwatch. I discovered this while visiting the Normandy American Cemetery at Omaha Beach in Normandy, France when I asked the guard at the security checkpoint if he minded if I kept my Apple Watch on while walking through the metal detector. He didn’t seem to notice this wasn’t a typical watch, one that mostly shows you a black display instead of the actual time, and he let me pass through without putting the device into the plastic tray. But the Apple Watch, of...
