“LET ME underscore the importance of the United States continuing to lead in the Middle East, North Africa and around the world,” Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton said Wednesday in testimony to Congress. “When America is absent, especially from unstable environments, there are consequences. Extremism takes root, our interests suffer and our security at home is threatened.” The outgoing secretary’s statements were particularly striking when compared with President Obama’s inaugural address Monday, which promised to end “a decade of war” in favor of nation-building at home, and with the White House’s current approach to Mali. ...White House policymakers argue...

Once again I am here to sing the praises of Walmart. Over the years I have done so on many occasions. Many misguided souls take the other side. They blame Walmart for ruining mom and pop grocery stores, mom and pop hardware stores, etc. Not me, I praise cheaper prices. Moreover, it's what consumers voted for with there hard-earned dollars. If anyone wants to pay more for stuff, all they have to do is shop at a mom and pop hardware store, grocery store, or pharmacy. Most don't because they want a bargain. Today, I have good news. Walmart-style competition...

Less than an hour after Sen. Saxby Chambliss’s (R-Ga.) surprise announcement that he would not seek a third term next year, there was one name on the lips of most conservative activists in the Peach State: Tom Price. Less than a month after he lost a bid for chairman of the House Republican Conference, five-term Rep. and physician Price (lifetime American Conservative Union rating: 97.60 percent) has a fresh opportunity to move up. Where Chambliss disappointed conservatives with his role as part of the “Gang of Six” seeking compromise with the White House on spending and taxation and faithful votes...

From leaving behind adult diapers, to letting breast milk leak down from over-head bins and using ped eggs to file down foot calluses - Keagle revealed that working at 30,000 feet isn't nearly as glamorous as it seems. Keagle, who has two decades of experience in the air, reached out to her vast network of fellow flight attendants to...

President Obama violated the Constitution when he bypassed the Senate to fill vacancies on a labor relations panel, a federal appeals court panel ruled Friday. A three-judge panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit said that Obama did not have the power to make three recess appointments last year to the National Labor Relations Board. The unanimous decision is an embarrassing setback for the president, who made the appointments after Senate Republicans spent months blocking his choices for an agency they contended was biased in favor of unions. The ruling also throws into question Obama's recess...

Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) has introduced a bill to repeal the "Gun-Free School Zones Act" of 1990 (updated in 1995) on the grounds that mass shootings at schools have increased five-fold since its passage. The "Safe Schools Act of 2013" (H.R.35), co-sponsored by Rep Broun, Paul C. [GA-10] notes that the 1990 "gun-free" law has made schools unsafe because "shooters now know that they can victimize American school campuses with no fear that victims will be armed." Stockman's bill notes that there have been 10 school shootings killing at least four people each in the 22 years since the "gun-free"...

Allahpundit wrote Wednesday that Rand Paul is working hard to differentiate from his father's brand, but --- wow. Breitbart's Ben Shapiro asked Paul the Younger about aid to Israel, which Paul says he'd like to eliminate only after eliminating all foreign aid --- and that the effort should start with nations where the people "burn the American flag," and perhaps Israel last. If President, Paul pledges to send a message that American troops will intervene on Israel's behalf if attacked, regardless of aid decisions, using the NATO formulation:CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul took what...

I don't know if part of the rationale for yesterday's kinda-sort out-of-left-field announcement that the Pentagon is lifting the ban on women serving in direct combat is supposed to be some kind of barrier-breaking, legacy-building last hurrah for Leon Panetta, but if that's the case, I'm not sure that that legacy will be a very positive one. There's been no dearth of criticism for the idea from veterans, including from one former Republican Congressman Allen West: However, to make the insidious policy decision that we shall now open up combat billets to women is something completely different. GI Jane was...

HARTFORD -- The prosecutor investigating the Newtown school massacre told a new panel Thursday not to expect a final report on the Dec. 14 slaughter anytime soon. Danbury State's Attorney Stephen J. Sedensky III announced that while no criminal prosecution seems likely to emerge from the mass murder and suicide, he wants to suppress much of the evidence from the public anyway. "This is an ongoing criminal investigation, for which I have obtained extensions of time from the Superior Court to keep documents sealed, so that the investigation may continue unencumbered by distractions," Sedensky said. "The rules of professional responsibility...

Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif., told MSNBC’s Al Sharpton Wednesday night she was “infuriated” during Sen. Rand Paul’s questioning of Sec. Hillary Clinton and even left the hearing room. “When I heard him say those words, I walked out of the hearing room, and listened to him from behind the stage, because I was so infuriated at what that man said,” Ms Boxer said. Mr Paul said it was “inexcusable” for the State Department to ignore the Benghazi cables. “Had I been president at the time, and I found that you did not read the cables from Benghazi, you did not...

Where can one look to find the ultimate hypocrisy today? One would think we could look to current politicians, among whom there is plenty of hypocrisy to go around. Or we could look to Al Gore, who preaches “green,” but makes more than $100 million from the “black gold” of Qatar. In selling Current TV, Gore’s failed television network, to Al Jazeera, he merely confirmed what nearly everyone knew about him: that the only green he believes in is the color of money. But to find the ultimate hypocrisy, we need only look a little further—for if you guessed it...
