U.S. to transfer fighter jet technology to Brazil for purchase deal www.chinaview.cn 2009-09-10 10:51:56 P RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. administration has agreed to transfer the F-18 Super Hornet fighter jets' technology to Brazil if the Brazilian government chooses to purchase U.S. jets. The U.S. embassy in Brazil made the announcement on Wednesday, two days after the Brazilian government said it is in negotiations with France for the purchase of 36 fighter jets to renovate the Brazilian fleet. The main argument for choosing the French planes was the French government agrees to transfer the jet's technology....

As a curmudgeon who has embraced many of the new technologies of journalism, I want to draw a line. Let’s quit tweet, tweet, tweeting like the birdbrains do. I don’t care what your friend had for lunch. I don’t care how many people are following you through Twitter.com. Or Facebook, for that matter. My intelligence drops just about every time I see a tweet pop up on a web page I frequent. I really like Missouri basketball player Kimmie English. He’s a bright, intelligent, witty kid. He speaks in complete sentences. His expresses opinions clearly in person and I suspect,...

From Obama's teleprompter: Some of people's concerns have grown out of bogus claims spread by those whose only agenda is to kill reform at any cost. The best example is the claim, made not just by radio and cable talk show hosts, but prominent politicians, that we plan to set up panels of bureaucrats with the power to kill off senior citizens. Such a charge would be laughable if it weren't so cynical and irresponsible. It is a lie, plain and simple. There are also those who claim that our reform effort will insure illegal immigrants. This, too, is false...

Project much Mr. President? Whether it’s the nation’s school children or the Congress or the American People President Barry Soetoro enjoys talking down to people. Soetoro scolded Congress and the American people like we were all school children on the first day of school. All I hear is that Democrats need to regain the debate on health care and that was what your speech was about wasn’t it, regaining the debate? If so, with all of the misinformation, scare tactics and ideological warfare that Democrats engage in how dare you get up on your soapbox and wash your hands like...

The "post-partisan" candidate for "change" has conducted his umpteenth ultra-partisan misinformation-fest on ObamaCare. The most egregious distortions and falsehoods are as follows... 7. "Unfortunately, in 34 states, 75 percent of the insurance market is controlled by five or fewer companies. In Alabama, almost 90 percent is controlled by just one company. And without competition, the price of insurance goes up and quality goes down...I just want to hold [insurance companies] accountable." The glaringly obvious (and cost-free) solution to insurance monopolies is to eliminate the government restrictions that make them unavoidable. This is a blatantly dishonest attempt to misrepresent a clearly...

Ah, Democrat hypocrisy. Dost thou know no bounds? We are reminded this morning by Glenn Thrush at Politico: In 2004, Democrats delivered a “Chorus Of Boos” during Bush’s Bush’s State Of The Union when he called for renewal of the Patriot Act., according to the Washington Times. In 2005, Dems howled, hissed and shouted “No!” when Bush pushed for Social Security reform in the SOU: “Foreshadowing the contentiousness of the coming debate, Democrats broke decorum and booed twice,” according to the National Journal. At the time, CNN’s Bill Schneider remarked, “It was unusual. I had never heard it at least at...

...FAIR has a point that illegal immigrants would likely be able to buy insurance on the national health insurance exchange. We don't see anything in the bills that would hinder that. A Congressional Research Service report issued Aug. 25, 2009, confirmed our observation. The House bill "does not contain any restrictions on noncitzens participating in the Exchange—whether the noncitizens are legally or illegally present, or in the United States temporarily or permanently," the report said. But it's worth pointing out that illegal immigrants participating in the exchange would be paying for their insurance like everyone else. That's similar to the...

SAN DIEGO (AP) -- The California Supreme Court will not review a appeals court ruling that wiped out an $86 million judgment against coffee giant Starbucks over tip sharing at its stores in the state. . . . In 2008, a San Diego County Superior Court judge ordered Starbucks Corp. to pay millions in restitution to baristas who had to share their tips with supervisors. In June, the 4th District Court of Appeal reversed that ruling,

With its establishment of Morality Units to supervise proper public behavior, Hamas appears to be going ahead with its goal of enacting Islamic law in Gaza. According to a member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, Kayed Al-Ghoul, Hamas wants to limit women's freedom, prevent contact between men and women, and impose morality restrictions on men. Hamas's Morality Units prohibit women from laughing and talking in public, and want women to go outdoors only when accompanied by a male relative. The following is from the article in the Palestinian daily, Al-Ayyam: Member of...

Let the debate begin. Toyota Motor Corp. began testing an alcohol-detection breathalyzer that can immobilize a vehicle if the driver is wasted. Toyota is testing the device on 30 commercial vehicles in Japan. Mounted on the instrument panel, it locks the truck's ignition if it senses the driver has imbibed too much. The idea is to give companies better control of their fleets.

I urge everyone to contact Representative Joe Wilson's office to offer their support of his actions. The president looks into the camera and to the american people and LIES, and we're supposed to believe that Wilson is in the wrong for calling him out on it? We need MORE of this kind of response, and he should not be apologetic about it. This is the future of the US we're discussing. Civility be damned. The democrats are not constrained by truth, civility, honor, the Consitution, the law, etc. We need MORE Joe Wilson's up there fighting for the good of...

A MAN claims his pet cat is a bit too brainy for his own good and can speak English - a total of seven different words so far, including the F-word. Robert 'RJ' Duncan, of Palmerston, in the Northern Territory says his budgie Picininny can also speak. But when the Northern Territory News first visited the ex-boxer, 34, and his wife Sandra, 32, at their home, the house-bound moggie grumpily declined to comment. Instead he scratched Mr Duncan a few times before bolting to his bedroom and barricading himself in his cupboard. But during a second visit, Mischief was much...

The federal bribery trial of a City of Chicago building inspector opened Wednesday with a prosecutor telling jurors they were not handling a particularly complicated case. "It's all about someone taking money he's not entitled to for official acts with the city," Assistant U.S. Atty. Juliet Sorensen said in her opening statement. On trial is Michael Reese, one of more than two dozen individuals charged in Operation Crooked Code, the investigation of bribery in the city's Buildings and Zoning Departments. Reese, 39, was indicted in December on one count of conspiracy to commit bribery and two counts of making false...

DEAR NAÏVE FOX AND FRIENDS, WITH REFERENCE TO REPUBLICAN JOE WILSON'S "YOU LIE" OUTBURST DURING OBAMA'S CONGRESSIONAL SPEECH OF 09/09/09, I TAKE SERIOUS ISSUE WITH YOU ON YOUR STATEMENT, AND I PARAPHRASE, “JOE WILSON’S OUTBURST OF “YOU LIE” WAS NOT APPROPRIATE DURING OBAMA’S SPEECH LAST EVENING.” I SUPPOSE, HAD YOU BEEN THERE, YOU WOULD HAVE SAID THE SAME THING ABOUT PATRICK HENRY AND THE REST OF OUR FOREFATHERS? Under the umbrella of congressional “decorum” the “established” comportment of behavior is to always show respect for ones opponents, foes or enemies for the purpose of creating an atmosphere conducive to freedom...

It may have been a breach of protocol, and it may have been inappropriate but Rep. Joe Wilson got his point across. When Obama claimed his health care proposal would not cover illegals, Rep. Joe Wilson twice shouted “you lie”. He is right. Not only is the President lying about not paying for illegal aliens health care, he has been caught lying before (SEE VIDEO -Right Column). Senator John McSHAME was quick to try to appease the President and said this on CNN, “There is no place for it in that setting, or any other, and he should apologize for...
