The decision to offer New York women up to $10,000 to donate their eggs for stem cell research, payable by taxpayers, is "incredibly irresponsible and immoral," critics told FOXNews.com. New York's decision to offer women in the state up to $10,000 to donate their eggs for stem cell research, payable by taxpayers, is "incredibly irresponsible and immoral," critics told FOXNews.com. Wendy Wright, president of Concerned Women for America, said the move -- the first of its kind nationwide -- treats women as "commodities, almost like cows" and could lead to cash-strapped women in other states to partake in similar programs....

Task Force Chosin, Afghanistan SNIPPET: "More coalition soldiers have died in July than in any previous month in the nine-year war in Afghanistan." L SNIPPET: "Strangely, our military leaders rarely talk about the battles here. They urge shooting less and drinking more cups of tea with village elders. This is the new face of war—counterinsurgency defined as nation-building, an idealistic blend of development aid and John Locke philosophy. Our generals say that the war is “80% non-kinetic.”" SNIPPET: "War is not complicated. You have to separate the guerrilla forces from the population and kill them until they no longer want...

With one bombshell already having been dropped at the BlackHat Conference (that most implementations of SSL are configured to give up everything including logins, credit cards, etc.), researchers dropped another one today when they demonstrated how the SMS infrastructures of GSM-flavored operators such as AT&T (NYSE: T) and T-Mobile are hackable to the point that cell phones can be hacked and their users can be tricked into divulging confidential information. By the time you read this, there will probably be some videos of the hacks posted to YouTube. But the net net is that there are different SMS message types....

KANGAROO numbers could explode due to a Russian ban on roo meat exports from Australia, farm leaders say. Queensland farm body AgForce has warned of an environmental disaster and threats to the viability of regional communities. Russia suspended meat imports from about 24 Australian processing plants on the basis of new health standards. The move, to start next month, affects all kangaroo meat exports, as well as some beef, sheep meat and other game meat. AgForce sheep and wool president Brent Finlay said kangaroo harvesting and exporting would not be viable without the Russian market, which takes about 70 per...

An expert on Apple Macintosh security on Wednesday said he had uncovered a way hackers could take over the computers and warned that the machines could soon see more hacker attention. Computers using Apple Inc.'s Mac operating system haven't been an attractive target for hacker activity because of the relatively small share of the market they represent. About 1 in 10 computers use it. That benign neglect from hackers has been a selling point for the Mac until now, leading many owners to believe they don't need the security software required on computers using Microsoft Corp.'s (NASDAQ:MSFT) Windows operating system....
