WASHINGTON, D.C., July 10, 2009 (LifeSiteNews.com) - About one out of four children aborted early in America are killed by the abortion pill rather than a surgical procedure, according to an Associated Press report. The report concerns a Planned Parenthood study published in Thursday's New England Journal of Medicine touting the improved safety of a drug used in abortions that is now dissolved orally instead of vaginally - the latter being a technique that is more prone to causing severe and sometimes fatal infections. The chemical abortion method consists of first distributing mifepristone, also known as RU-486, which kills the child...

The first thing to note about the financial crisis is that the federal government never had any business intervening in the personal decision of whether you want to own a home. There is no rational economic argument, or any argument I know of, that says the market of buying and selling homes is imperfect in some way, requiring government action. Construction firms have plenty of incentive to build homes and sell them. People who have the wherewithal have plenty of incentive to buy homes if they so choose. For the government to intrude into homeownership was an off-budget, nontransparent, backdoor...

Rep. Anna Eshoo (D-CA) claims secret activities occurred under the watch of former Vice President Dick Cheney. Rep. Eshoo says she can't think of a better way to spend the money of taxpayers than to investigate if Cheney ran a secret assassination ring. "This must be investigated," Eshoo said.

Michael Jackson's family is locked in a stubborn battle over what to do with the King of Pop's remains — a dispute that highlights decades of feuding. In 2002, Jackson completed a will leaving his estate to his children and granting custody of the kids — Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and “Blanket,” 7 — to his mother. But it appears Jackson did not stipulate his wishes for the disposition of his remains. In accordance with California law, if Jackson did not provide clear, specific directions for burial, control over his remains would go to his next of kin...

Remember that Department of Homeland Security Report warning people to "watch out" for returning veterans as well as those who oppose government policy on guns, abortion, immigration, states' rights, etc. Well hows this for scary? Florida Congressman Alcee Hasting put an amendment on the defense bill that would allow the White House categorize political opponents as hate groups, throw them in jail. It gets worse, Hastings is also sponsoring a bill that will build prison camps to house these political opponents. Holy Cow, This is America:

When I last wrote about Thistlerose Pet Cemetery and Crematory in 2008, the owners and their lawyer were promising the so-called final resting grounds would not be disturbed, even though the property in Greendale was for sale. Well, forget all that. Get the shovels back out.In a notice displayed at Thistlerose, they're already referring to it as the "former" cemetery. The anticipated closing date for the sale is July 30. "You have until July 24, 2009, to arrange for the removal of the remains of your pet and any memorial marker. If the remains and any marker are not removed...

From Commander Fitzpatrick's site... "Shifty volunteered for the airborne in WWII and served with Easy Company of the 506Th Parachute Infantry Regiment, part of the 101st Airborne Infantry. If you've seen Band of Brothers on HBO or the History Channel, you know Shifty. His character appears in all 10 episodes, and Shifty himself is interviewed in several of them. I met Shifty in the Philadelphia airport several years ago. I didn't know who he was at the time. I just saw an elderly gentleman having trouble reading his ticket. I offered to help, assured him that he was at the...

The Zip Codes were ranked based primarily on the concentration of affluent retirees (and people nearing retirement age) as well as relative cost of living. But sunny days, the home price forecast for 2010, and the number of nearby amenities including golf courses, hospitals, theaters, museums, religious institutions, shopping centers, and airports, were also factored in. The 2010 housing forecast is Cyberhomes' projected home price change from Jan. 1, 2010 to Dec. 31. 2010. The cost of living index compares cost of living among Zips with "100" being average, 200 being twice the average, and 50 being half the average...

In a piece titled, "Finding the Limits of U.S. Power," Alan Cowell of the New York Times notes: "But, diplomatically, the unfinished business lies in North Korea and Iran — twin beacons of nuclear ambition casting a baleful, contrary light onto the frontiers of America’s ability to impose its will on those who see nuclear technology as a portal to respect and influence that would otherwise elude them. And perhaps, in a backhanded way, the real puzzle lies not so much in America’s deployment of power as in the acknowledgment of its limits." In fact, the real puzzle lies more...

The Associated Press is proposing that publishers attach descriptive tags to news articles online in hopes of taming the free-for-all of news and information on the Web and generating more traffic for established media brands. Tags identifying the author, publisher and other information — as well as any usage restrictions publishers hope to place on copyright-protected materials — would be packaged with each news article in a way that search engines can more easily identify. By doing so, the AP hopes to make it easier for readers to find articles from more established news providers amid the ever-expanding pool of...

From July 16 through July 22, 1994, pieces of an object designated as Comet P/Shoemaker-Levy 9 collided with Jupiter. This is the first collision of two solar system bodies ever to be observed, and the effects of the comet impacts on Jupiter's atmosphere have been simply spectacular and beyond expectations. Comet Shoemaker-Levy 9 consisted of at least 21 discernable fragments with diameters estimated at up to 2 kilometers.

The biggest event of the year in Laguna Niguel, Calif., is coming up on Saturday, but Mayor Robert Ming has a message for those planning to attend: Keep your pants on. For 30 years, the town has played host to an affair dubbed "Moon Over Amtrak." Crowds line Camino Capistrano, a road that runs along the railroad tracks, and pass the day dropping their trousers every time a train rolls by...

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Californians will have fewer places to redeem IOUs issued by the cash-strapped state after Friday. At least three major banks, Wells Fargo (WFC, Fortune 500), JPMorgan Chase (JPM, Fortune 500) and Bank of America (BAC, Fortune 500), will stop accepting the IOUs, as they'd previously announced. More than 60 credit unions, however, will continue to accept the paper.

As cap-and-trade advocates tie their knickers in knots over so-called "global warming," Mother Nature refuses to cooperate. Earth's temperatures continue a chill that began 11 years ago. As global cooling accelerates, global-warmists kick, scream, and push their pet theory -- just like little kids who cover their ears and stomp their feet when older children tell them not to bother waiting up for Santa Claus on Christmas Eve. Consider how the globe cooled last month: -- June in Manhattan averaged 67.5 degrees Fahrenheit, 3.7 degrees below normal -- the coldest average since 1958. The National Weather Service stated July 1:...

(CNN) -- Pakistan's military has declared that not only is it in contact with Afghan Taliban leader Mullah Mohammed Omar but that it can bring him and other commanders to the negotiating table with the United States. The acknowledgment of on-going communication with Taliban forces using sanctuary in Pakistan to launch military strikes against U.S. troops in neighboring Afghanistan is part of a new diplomatic overture to help the Obama administration find an end to the long-running conflict. In a CNN exclusive interview, Pakistan military spokesman Maj. Gen. Athar Abbas said in return for any role as a broker between the...

State Sen. George Runner is stepping down as chairman of the Senate Republican Caucus, the Flash Report reported today. The 57-year-old Lancaster lawmaker told his 14 GOP colleagues that he will leave the post at the end of this month, according to the blog, written by state GOP official Jon Fleischman. Runner said that resigning the chairmanship will allow the post to be held by someone who is not seeking higher office and, at the same time, trying to qualify and pass a statewide ballot measure.

Why are Democratic lawmakers so eager to shield the Federal Reserve Board from public scrutiny? After Sen. Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) used a procedural trick in the U.S. Senate to torpedo a longshot legislative bid that would have had the Government Accountability Office (GAO) audit the Fed, Sen. Jim DeMint (R-South Carolina) expressed his disappointment on the "Glenn Beck Program": Frankly, a lot of us here in this country and around the world, are concerned that we're going to destroy the American dollar and the worldwide reserve currency. DeMint told substitute host Judge Andrew Napolitano that If we could get the Federal Reserve under control, it would make it more difficult for...
