Jackson Family Feud: Where Will Michael Be Buried?
Fox News ^ | July 10, 2009

Michael Jackson's family is locked in a stubborn battle over what to do with the King of Pop's remains — a dispute that highlights decades of feuding.

In 2002, Jackson completed a will leaving his estate to his children and granting custody of the kids — Prince Michael, 12, Paris, 11, and “Blanket,” 7 — to his mother. But it appears Jackson did not stipulate his wishes for the disposition of his remains.

In accordance with California law, if Jackson did not provide clear, specific directions for burial, control over his remains would go to his next of kin — in this case, his parents. But Joe and Katherine Jackson appear to be of very different minds about Michael's final resting place.

According to the New York Post, Joe Jackson and Michael’s brother Jermaine are adamant that the pop icon should be buried at his Neverland ranch in Santa Barbara, mainly because the family could earn millions from a Graceland-like museum at the site. But it is illegal to bury a body on private property in California.

With toxicology tests incomplete and Jackson’s brain still in the hands of state investigators, Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter said there were no plans to bury the body yet.

Why Arlington National Cemetery, of course!

Look for this woman to propose a national monument for MJ on the Mall...

Minor point, but: Why on earth is it illegal to bury a body on private property in CA? Surely folks in outlying areas, several hours or more from any sort of town (think of a prospecting camp), would routinely bury their dead anywhere (respectfully) nearby?

I could see a law requiring PROPER and NON-SECRET burial, but ... jeesh.

Seems my state’s venture into silly regulations started early.

Cut him up and let everyone have a piece to put in their living room shrines.

I they had a lick of sense, they'd have him cremated, and enclose a few micrograms of the ash into millions of glass memorial pendants.

100,000,000 pendants at $100.00 per pendant.

Not bad. Not bad at all...

Okay, let’s see to it that MJ is buried on public property.

How about putting him in at Hollywood and Vine?

Why not ship him back to the Arab country that he was living in after his trial. After all he is a Muslim. On second thought pedophiles apparently are welcomed from the very beginning, so send him to Mecca.

An old Japanese custom is to cremate and divide the ashes among the squabbling next of kin when no agreement can be reached.

An old Sioux custom is to leave the body to nature on a scaffold platform erected on a remote hilltop. The family who desires to do so can return years later to gather the bones in a sacred bundle. By this time, the animosities are thought to have decayed as much as the remains.

Either solution would be appropriate here.

Typical. Like the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. “family” who plays games with the great one’s speeches, writings and film footage, to make maximum dollar, so we see the Jackson clan being equally greedy and churlish.

Last night on “So You Think You Can Dance”, an American Idol type competition for dancers, they said they had wanted to have them dance to Michael’s songs, some of which are great dance numbers, but “the family” would not release them for use. Probably because it was the Fox company that Obama trashes at every turn.

I am so proud of the State of California (whichever bureaucrat it was) who would not allow Michael to be buried in the back yard at Neverland. That would have just given the property to his family - whether his estate could afford it or not. The neighbors did NOT want him there.

Yes, but I wouldn’t be surprised if permission is granted for MJ to be buried at Neverland...and it becomes Graceland on the west coast. There’s too much money to be made for a lot of people for it not to happen.
