Below is a preview of The American Writ of Grievances. It is the first of a set of documents currently being written, and the start of a process we've undertaken here at UniteOrDie.org to step outside of the rhetorical debate and work for actual reform and resolution of grievances. In the coming months we will work towards the goal of writing and introducing actionable legislation. If you're ready to rise above the fray and appeal to the sensibilities of an emerging post-partisan America, we invite you to join and be a part of this process. The American Writ of Grievances...

Seven days after the new fiscal year began, the state of California still appears to be far from a budget solution. Disabled protesters, angry over cuts to vital services, were arrested outside the Capitol on Tuesday; inside, lawmakers bickered about fruits and juices. A war of words developed between Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger and lawmakers over the fruit-related focus of three new bills. "The governor is not against condiments. The governor's not against fruits of any kind," said spokesman Aaron McLear. "But he believes we ought to be focused on solving our budget crisis first and foremost." Assembly bill 606 creates...

Sen. John Ensign's (R-Nev.) parents gave the family of the woman with whom he had an affair gifts totaling $96,000 after they learned of their son's affair, an attorney for the Nevada senator said Thursday. Ensign's parents gave the gifts to Doug and Cindy Hampton and two of their children, in the form of a single check. The gifts were limited to $12,000 per person at most, in order to avoid taxes on gifts, given by each of Ensign's parents. After the senator told his parents about the affair, his parents decided to make the gifts out of concern for...

It's quite simple: Do what is fair and just to your neighbor, be compassionate and loyal in your love, And don't take yourself too seriously— take God seriously... "Do you expect me to overlook obscene wealth you've piled up by cheating and fraud? Do you think I'll tolerate shady deals and...

When Governor Palin went to Kosovo nearly two weeks ago, one key aspect not photographed or video recorded was her elevating the ranks of three soldiers. This video shows the promotion ceremony from a distance with voice-over and is the only multimedia available on this specific event. Promotion ceremony starts at 00:44 and ends in 0:52. Frame grabs were taken from the video, so that this action by Alaska's Commander-in-Chief is preserved. Should better video or photos become available, they will be posted here.

The Federal Reserve can't (or won't) account for $9 trillion dollars which has gone missing and the Senate recently blocked a proposed audit. Why? Watch this video of the Federal Reserve Inspector General telling a Congressional panel she does not know where money is going. The woman is either stupid or lying to Congress. John F. Kennedy (I can't believe he's from the same gene pool as Ted) was on the verge of doing away with the Federal Reserve in 1963, but was assassinated before he got it done. A coincidence? (authorship of the following is unknown): When you look...

After huddling Wednesday with Democrats on the Senate Finance Committee, Chairman Max Baucus told reporters that lawmakers still need to come up with $320 billion over the coming decade in taxes to pay for the health care plan. The remaining cost of the bill would be paid for through savings in Medicare, Medicaid and other programs. All options for raising taxes remain on the table, the Montana Democrat said, including taxing employer-provided health benefits, though that provision appears to lack significant Democratic support. Sen. Kent Conrad, D-North Dakota, who has been involved in negotiations on the bill, said senators are...

A federal case involving a pharmacy refusing to dispense Plan B–aka the “morning after pill”–based on religious objection also has disturbing implications for assisted suicide in that state. A three panel Court of Appeals panel reversed an injunction and sent the case back to the trial court for further consideration. But in finding that Washington regulations requiring pharmacists to carry and dispense all legal drugs and medications is a rule of general applicability–thus precluding religious conscience-based exemptions–it also means that all pharmacists in the state must dispense death to terminally ill patients in Washington who receive lethal prescriptions. From...

An amendment based on Congressman Ron Paul’s House bill to audit the Federal Reserves was blocked by the Senate this week on procedural grounds. Speaking on the Senate floor, Republican Senator Jim DeMint and supporter of an audit said, "allowing the Fed to operate our nation's monetary system in almost complete secrecy leads to abuse, inflation and a lower quality of life." Charles Ortel, managing director with Newport Value Partners, an independent research firm, agrees. "Transparency is the key to any market," he says, noting the Fed doesn't mark-to-market its assets, much of it now consisting of the worst toxic...

With all that’s been said about Governor Sarah Palin’s supposedly “shocking” announcement that she was resigning from office, you might think that everything that needs to be said about this has already been reported. However, as I proved in my documentary which “stars” Palin, when it comes to the most unfairly vilified personality of our time, it is more the rule than the exception that the true story about her gets totally lost in the media translation. Her resignation has been a classic example.----snip----First, let’s make it clear that, despite what MSNBC has implied on numerous occasions, I am NOT...

The fur is really starting to fly, now that the first pet-only airline in the U.S. is taking to the skies. Pet Airways, which will fly from airports in five American cities starting next week -- with plans to expand into Canada next year -- is focused entirely on pet "pawsengers." In fact, human passengers aren't even allowed on the planes, said CTV's travel expert Loren Christie. "It's actually an airline only for pets," Christie told CTV's Canada AM. "It's not just pet friendly, you actually can't fly on this airline unless you're an animal. The only humans allowed on...
