The presidential campaign of Alan Keyes has totally collapsed in Iowa. On November 29th, the Iowa Campaign Chairman, Ron Granzow, resigned his post in response to the incompetence shown by the national campaign manager in building and sustaining a grass-roots organization. Also, the banckrupt campaign hadn't provided Granzow his monthly salary since May. This resignation came on the heels of the resignation of the Iowa Vice Chairman and recent polls which show that Keyes' support in Iowa has declined significantly since the August Straw Poll in Ames.

WTO summit ends in failure Saturday, December 4, 1999 By MICHAEL PAULSON and ROBERT McCLURE, SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER REPORTERS The world's trade ministers last night abandoned their effort to launch a new round of global trade negotiations, bringing an ugly conclusion to an ugly week. The meeting of the World Trade Organization, hampered throughout the week by sometimes violent protests, broke up just before 10 p.m. when delegates from 135 nations said they could not agree on an agenda for future trade talks. "Essentially, they just could not get the work done," said WTO spokesman Keith Rockwell. The defeat for the ...

Talk about reverse descrimination! Our 4 year old granddaughter attends a Pre-K in Port Jefferson. The parents were told that there would be no Halloween or Thanksgiving parties because there are foreign children and religions that do not celebrate these American holidays. I'm sure if American children were in another country, celebrations would not be cancelled to accomodate them. We're allowing these groups to take advantage at our expense. At last glance, this is America. This could have been a learning experience for the other children.

NEW YORK (Reuters) - Some New Yorkers got rid of their hostility toward Mayor Rudolph Giuliani on Saturday by hurling what appeared to be elephant dung at a portrait of his face depicted as the Madonna in Washington Square Park. For almost three hours, about 200 New Yorkers, young and old, made a $1 donation each to homeless people. Each was given a latex glove and allowed to toss dung it at the mayor's portrait as a protest against the police search and seizure of the apartment of a graffiti writer this week. On Wednesday, the apartment of Stephen Powers, ...

The following was a letter written by Sam Houston back when Texas was still a nation (and a great one at that) in response to a challenge to a duel by the individual addressed (enjoy): My dear Yancey Quimper, I have before me your challenge to a duel. My seconds will await yours and we shall fight at the spot and time they elect. Since I am the challenged party, I shall demand horse pistols at five feet. However, I have been much challenged of late and at present have twenty-two duels scheduled ahead of yours. I calculate that I ...

THE BATTLE IN SEATTLE If things at last week's World Trade Organization (WTO) meeting in Seattle went like the 1993 Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meeting, the VHF/UHF radio frequency energy level in that city raised a few thousand times. At the APEC meeting, leaders of about 15 nations gathered in Seattle to discuss the future of trade and security issues involving the United States and various Pacific countries. And, as one might imagine, some of that information could be worth quite a lot to various large multinational business contributors to the Clinton campaign fund and the Democratic Party coffers. ...

Published in The Orlando Sentinel on December 5, 1999. Reparations seem to be the hot topic these days. There is a move afoot to pay reparations to American blacks for the alleged injury of slavery, which, of course, no living American has experienced. I'm against reparations in principle, especially those that are sought 50 to 100 years after the fact. I don't believe in making great-grandsons pay for someone else's sins. American blacks should step back and quit listening to all the people who are telling them to feel sorry for themselves. As a group, American blacks are, without ...
